Chapter 45 - Ch.22 Something Blue

Chapter 22 — Something Blue (Breakups, Beginnings & Big Moves)

Ted Mosby believed weddings were about new starts.

Robin Scherbatsky believed weddings were about compromise.

And Ivar Scherbatsky? He believed weddings were about endings — because sometimes, you had to cut ties before you could build new ones.

The Toast

At the reception, Ted raised his glass.

"To Marshall and Lily — proof that sometimes love actually works."

The gang cheered. Robin forced a smile.

Megan whispered to Yvonne, "This feels… heavy."

Yvonne smirked. "Correction: foreshadowing."

The Breakup Reveal

Later, in a quiet corner, Robin whispered to Ted:

"We have to tell them."

Ted nodded, his smile fading. "Yeah. They deserve to know."

The gang gathered, expecting a sweet moment.

Robin sighed. "Ted and I… we broke up."

The table froze.

Marshall blinked. "What? But—"

Lily gasped. "Why?"

Ted stammered, "We just… want different things."

Robin added softly, "It doesn't mean we don't care. It just… doesn't fit."

Silence hung heavy.

Ivar's Move

After the shock, Robin found Ivar outside, cigarette in hand though he never smoked it, just letting it burn in the night air.

She slumped beside him. "Well… that's it. Another failure."

"Correction," Ivar said. "Not failure. Transition."

Robin scoffed. "Into what? My career's stalling, my love life's a joke—"

Ivar handed her an envelope.

Inside: a Northern Star Entertainment contract. Anchor position. Bigger platform. Global reach.

Robin stared, wide-eyed. "This is… huge."

"You want more than scraps," Ivar said. "So stop eating at small tables."

---

Megan & Yvonne

Inside, Megan and Yvonne teased Barney mercilessly, half-distracting the group while Ivar and Robin spoke.

Megan whispered: "You think she'll take it?"

Yvonne smirked. "Correction: she already has."

---

Robin's Choice

Later, Robin returned to the table, her eyes brighter than before. She didn't say anything, not yet — but she looked at Ivar with a silent nod.

He raised his glass.

Because sometimes new beginnings didn't wait for the right moment. They forced their way in, right when you thought you'd lost everything.

---

Closing Beat

By the end of the night:

Ted nursed heartbreak, hiding it with forced smiles.

Robin found the spark of something bigger.

Marshall and Lily danced like nothing else in the world mattered.

Barney pretended to flirt his way through the pain.

Megan and Yvonne toasted to chaos.

And Ivar? He sat calm, watching the pieces fall where he'd nudged them.

Because endings weren't failures.

They were foundations.
