Chapter 6 – Two Lonely Souls
Silvia returned to the Demon Lord's castle that night, the vision of the golden goddess burned into her mind.
The halls of her home were vast and cold, carved from obsidian stone and lit with flickering crimson torches. Demons bowed when she passed, not out of affection, but fear. She was the Demon Lord's heir—the blood of destruction incarnate.
But none of them spoke to her.
None dared approach the girl who carried the cursed inheritance of her father.
And so Silvia lived in silence, locked behind layers of etiquette, expectation, and invisible chains.
At night, she would sit by her window, staring out into the world beyond the castle walls.
She wondered what it would be like to talk to someone without them trembling. To laugh without it echoing against empty halls. To have a friend.
But demons weren't meant to have friends. They were meant to conquer.
And then—she met her.
It was days later, on the outer fields of the Demon Territory. Silvia had been allowed to walk the grounds under the watch of guards, though they kept their distance.
There, beneath the shade of an old, gnarled tree, she spotted a girl sitting alone.
White dress. Silver hair. Eyes that seemed too soft, too lost, for this harsh land.
Aurora.
Silvia paused, studying her. There was nothing divine about her appearance—fragile, almost pitiful. She looked… abandoned.
"...Who are you?" Silvia asked, her voice carrying the authority of her bloodline.
Aurora startled, clutching the hem of her dress nervously. "I-I… I'm just a traveler."
The demon guards stiffened, ready to remove the intruder, but Silvia lifted her hand. "Leave her."
The guards hesitated, then obeyed, retreating.
Silvia walked closer, her crimson eyes narrowing. "You're not from here. Why sit in my father's lands?"
Aurora lowered her gaze, unsure what excuse the System would allow her to weave. Her voice came out soft, trembling: "Because… I need to go somewhere ."
Something in those words struck Silvia deep.
She sat beside Aurora without another word, the grass crunching under her boots. For a long while, Silvia chatted with her about her self because of her loneliness. Like two lost sisters, side by side.
Finally, Silvia spoke, her tone quieter.
"I don't have anyone either."
Aurora blinked, surprised. "You… don't?"
Silvia gave a small, bitter smile. "Locked away in a castle. Watched by eyes that fear me. Called heir to a throne I never asked for. But not once… not once have I had someone who looks at me without trembling."
Aurora's heart softened. For all the strength in Silvia's voice, there was loneliness deeper than any wound.
Carefully, Aurora extended her hand. "Then… maybe we can be friends?"
Silvia stared at that hand. Delicate. Unthreatening. Offered without fear.
For the first time in her life, Silvia reached out, her clawed fingers brushing against Aurora's palm. She gripped it lightly, as if afraid the fragile girl would vanish.
Her crimson eyes softened. "...Yes. Friends."
Neither of them knew then how much this bond would change everything.
One girl hiding divinity sealed within her.
The other, the daughter of the Demon Lord, starved for connection.
