¨'Outskirts of Tingen City.

The morning sun was bright, shining on the house with a dark red chimney. The lawn in front of the house appeared lush green and vibrant under the sunlight. The window of the second-floor bedroom was open, and sunlight streamed in, casting a golden glow on the desk by the window. A notebook, open on the desk, was illuminated, its writing clearly visible.

The notebook read:

"Siris Arepis and Haynes Vanst, members of the Aurora Order residing in Tingen City, followed the orders of Ms. M, a high-ranking member of the Aurora Order, and successfully located a semi-Lunatic youth named Luze Longdaoer. He seemed to carry the aura of the True Creator. Following orders, the two tricked and temporarily controlled him and his sister, awaiting further instructions from Ms. M."

"However, Ms. M underestimated Lu Ze's danger. As Siris spent day and night with Lu Ze, Lu Ze's aura quickly influenced Siris, a Secrets Supplicant. His perception became increasingly distorted, eventually leading to complete madness. He decided to kill Lu Ze, using him as a blood sacrifice to pray for the True Creator's descent. How mad, but all of this is logical."

"Siris successfully killed Lu Ze, but his ritual will fail. He will completely lose control until he is killed by the arriving Nighthawks team. Dunn Smith, who leads the team, will be subtly contaminated by the out-of-control Siris."

(The next few lines of writing were crossed out. Below them were a few hastily written lines.)

"Incredible! Illogical! Luze Longdaoer was not killed by Siris. On the contrary, he killed Siris and consumed the precipitated Beyonder characteristic, becoming a Sequence 9 Secrets Supplicant."

"But the situation is not yet irreversible! The letter Siris wrote containing Lu Ze's secret was accidentally burned. Dunn does not know of Lu Ze's danger. The police station has Aurora Order informants embedded within it. He coincidentally learned of Siris's death and urgently informed Haynes that very night."

"Cornered, Haynes gambled everything and decided to perform the mad blood sacrifice ritual. This was forbidden knowledge previously bestowed by Ms. M as a reward for them, but due to its extremely low success rate, Haynes had never used it. But tonight, his ritual will very fortunately succeed."

"The successful Haynes, following the information provided by the mole in the police station, arrived at the Blackthorn Security Company. He just happened to avoid the Nighthawks team heading to his house because their chosen routes were different, making it perfectly reasonable that they would not meet."

"Haynes infiltrated when the Nighthawks' defenses were weakest. He will devour Lu Ze, creating immense chaos."

(Again, large sections of crossed-out writing. Beneath the writing, a classical quill pen floated above the notebook, writing freely despite not being dipped in ink.)

"Damn Luze Longdaoer! He has once again illogically survived! The evil god's ravings actually have no effect on him; he carries a deeper secret."

"He is just like that annoying Klein Moretti, constantly disrupting Ince Zangwill's plans."

Just then, a slightly pale hand grasped the quill pen, and solemnly starting a new line, wrote:

"But it doesn't matter, Ince Zangwill still has many opportunities."

————

The next morning, inside the Blackthorn Security Company's lounge.

The rustling sound of things being rummaged through woke Lu Ze. He sat up and saw his sister, Cecilia, with her back to him, organizing a tattered suitcase. Outside, in the main hall, constant noise erupted, a chaotic mix of voices and the sounds of furniture being moved.

Oh, right, so much happened last night.

His consciousness slowly cleared, and Lu Ze recalled yesterday's events. Accidental death, transmigration, his sister, cultists, an evil god, and the Nighthawks, a mad ritual. After Haynes' death, his remains slowly precipitated a small black orb. Upon seeing it, Lu Ze immediately recognized it as the item Siris had forced him to consume—the so-called Secrets Supplicant Sequence Beyonder Potion. After this, Dunn arranged for him to return to the lounge to sleep, while he continued to investigate the case.

Speaking of which, I killed two people last night.

Lu Ze lowered his head, looking at his palms. His hands were fair and slender, completely different from how they looked, stained with blood, last night.

Haynes's roar yesterday had injured his nose and ears, but upon waking, neither place felt uncomfortable nor was bleeding anymore. This made him slightly question his physical condition.

To his surprise, he felt no guilt or discomfort. Was it because the Secrets Supplicant Potion had twisted his perception, making him ruthless?

No, Lu Ze recalled, his original personality was somewhat unpleasant, extremely petty, and vindictive. Moreover, there was nothing to be emotional about; the other party was going to kill him, so his death was purely deserved. Instead of caring about the lives of those Lunatic cultists, it was more important to focus on his convenient sister.

He turned his gaze back to his sister.

Cecilia hadn't noticed Lu Ze was awake and was still organizing the suitcase. Inside were a few clean but simple clothes, socks, some scraps of fabric and needles, a few ceramic bowls, wooden spoons, a small amount of pence coins, a few pills wrapped in paper, and some miscellaneous items. This was the siblings' entire current possession.

This suitcase had been left at Siris's house and, due to the need to preserve the crime scene, was not allowed to be taken away at the time. Cecilia had thrown a huge tantrum over this until Haynes was also apprehended and the incident concluded. Only then did Lu Ze proactively mention it to Dunn and retrieve it from the police.

The police officer who delivered the suitcase late at night was very displeased because there was nothing of value inside. He couldn't understand why Cecilia insisted on getting a broken suitcase back immediately, and he was very annoyed about having to run an errand late at night, so he just threw down the suitcase and left.

The police officer couldn't understand, but Lu Ze could somewhat comprehend his sister's thoughts.

—It's merely the obsession of the poor; after all, this was all their family's property. For the impoverished, perhaps one less piece of clothing or a few missed meals could be the cause of death. To survive, they must desperately cling to everything they possess.

"It's still here, that's great!"

Lu Ze heard Cecilia's joyful voice and looked up, finding her pulling a small brush from a crevice in the suitcase.

Ah, I think I've seen this before.

Related memories automatically surfaced in his mind, and Lu Ze remembered. That was the tool his sister used for work.

Ever since their parents died, the two siblings had lost their livelihood. The meager pension couldn't fully support them both, and young Cecilia had to take on the burden of earning money.

But in such an era, there weren't many ways for a delicate girl to earn money, especially since Lu Ze, who often went mad, needed constant care. Finally, Cecilia chose to work as a subcontractor for a match factory, gluing matchboxes at home every day. Filling one basket of matchboxes earned a little over two pence; she could probably glue two or three baskets a day, and with the pension, the siblings barely managed to get by for a few years.

So, the former Lu Ze, whenever he was lucid, would often see such a scene: his sister sitting sideways by his bed, her cute little face serious, skillfully gluing matchboxes with that small brush. When she noticed Lu Ze was awake, she would put down what she was doing, flash him a happy smile, and busy herself caring for him.

"Lu Ze, you're awake!"

Just as Lu Ze was enveloped by past memories, Cecilia finally noticed he was awake and turned to smile at him.

Lu Ze saw that brilliant smile, and a feeling of warmth and guilt suddenly surged within him. He suddenly understood why the former Lu Ze could grit his teeth and persevere for so many years in the evil god's mad illusions—perhaps it was to awaken again and return to reality, to see that lovely smiling face waiting for him.
