The figure clutching the book escaped Colossus's pursuit with astonishing speed, surprising him somewhat. Without giving it much thought, he desperately chased after it, but no matter what, it seemed to always maintain a certain distance.
The longer he ran now, the tastier the food would taste later.
Finally, the figure suddenly turned into a room and quickly shut the door tightly.
Colossus roared, slamming his fist into the door, shattering it with a roar. He burst into the room in an instant. However, what he saw before him was an unusually spacious and empty space, somewhat disorienting.
The room's size was beyond Colossus's imagination. There were no walls or furniture, only a smooth metal floor. It reminded him of the X-Men's Danger Room, a virtual environment simulation, but this one seemed even more real and authentic.
At that moment, a bullet struck Colossus's metal forehead with a sharp, resounding thud. However, to Colossus, it was just a light touch, harmless.
"Who?!"
A figure materialized from thin air in the corner of the room, a gray book at his feet. He clutched a gun in his left hand and an oversized black travel bag at his back. He smiled at Colossus.
Colossus laughed wildly, drool dripping. "Dude, you think bullets can hurt me? You've walked right into my mouth!" He flung his massive metal hands forward and lunged.
Ethan stared at Colossus lunging at him, coldly raising his gun and firing. The high-caliber bullets slammed into Colossus's body, but were deflected by his sturdy frame.
The more bullets he fired, the more frantic Colossus's voice grew.
"Hahahaha, that's hilarious! Are you trying to make me laugh to death? Don't resist! This thing can't even tickle me. I'll be merciful and kill you first."
Just as Colossus was only a dozen meters away from Ethan, a small piece of the metal floor in front of him suddenly rose. The metal plate floated smoothly in the air, like a wide stepping stone.
He sheathed his gun and lightly stepped onto it, leaping several meters high. The desperately sprinting Colossus was caught off guard and crashed directly into the wall.
Meanwhile, Ethan flicked his pistol lightly and swiftly flung it away. Before the pure metal figure could react, the pistol exploded near him with a loud bang, engulfing him in flames.
Colossus's speed in his transformed form was even slower than his human form, one of his few drawbacks.
This gun, of course, wasn't the one the system had given him, but a gadget he'd taken from the equipment department on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Helicarrier. There was nothing they couldn't explode.
Ethan walked off into the distance, pulling a massive rifle from the large travel bag behind him. The barrel was as clear as crystal, a mysterious red substance hissing and flowing within.
"Shit!" Colossus gasped, shaking his head as he pulled it free from the wall. His silver eyes glared resentfully at the figure standing in the distance.
"Come here."
"Ahhhhh, I'm going to eat you. I'm going to kill you!" Colossus roared furiously, his momentum increasing as he lunged at Ethan.
Ethan gripped his rifle tightly, his gaze fixed on the approaching zombies. "I've been thinking about something—"
He squeezed the trigger, and the rifle hummed. A dark red laser shot from the muzzle, hurtling straight towards Colossus's eye.
Before the iron-clad warrior could even close his eyelids, the laser pierced through his eyeball, mercilessly destroying his brain tissue.
"Argh!"
Colossus, brainless, collapsed to the ground, sliding towards Ethan, blood streaming from all his orifices, leaving a long trail of blood in his wake.
Ethan gently lifted his foot, letting the massive mass of metal slide past him. "—If even your eyeballs are made of metal, how can you see?"
Sheathing his gun, he turned his gaze toward the distant air and nodded slightly. At the same moment, the Invisible Woman emerged from the void, offering Ethan a forced smile.
She had been the one who had secretly lifted the ground to give Ethan leverage. The two hadn't discussed this beforehand, but she certainly possessed this tactical prowess.
This was where Ethan had previously tested his body data; the wreckage had long been swept away by the Doom robots.
The moment the three zombies entered Doom Castle, they were spotted by Doom. He then used a spell long inscribed on the wall to disorient the three mortals. Upon receiving this information, Ethan volunteered to deal with Colossus.
The Invisible Woman happened to be nearby and stepped forward to offer assistance.
"How did you know his eyes were so fragile? Logan doesn't even seem to know about it," Susan said, glancing at Colossus's corpse. She picked up the Book of the Dead and handed it to Ethan.
Ethan smiled and said nothing.
He couldn't tell Invisible Woman that Colossus from Earth-1610 had been manipulated for the same reason, could he? It was truly humiliating for one of Earth's most famous mutants to be frightened paralyzed by Falcon with a small pistol.
In most universes, Colossus's eyes are their most vulnerable part, but their surface, like his body, is a silvery-white color, making people subconsciously overlook this weakness.
Furthermore, the reason Ethan used this specially crafted SHIELD laser rifle instead of a pistol wasn't because he wasn't confident in his marksmanship, but because the Ultimate Universe's Colossus didn't dare gamble on whether his eyes could block a bullet, just as he didn't dare gamble on the power of a pistol bullet.
"Any news from Doom? Did he say how long it would take before the teleportation started?"
Ethan asked as they left the training room.
"He said it was faster than expected, and the first wave of teleportation would start in just over thirty minutes. Of course, he also emphasized that the people of Latveria must go first."
"Really, we are the superheroes, and he looks like he's afraid that we'll run away."
Susan shook her head helplessly. Didn't Doom even trust her?
"Look at it from a bright side, at least he didn't show any disregard for human life." Ethan shrugged.
The Invisible Woman pressed the headset on her ear, turned her head and said to Ethan, "Luke Cage and Red Tank were also dealt with."
Ethan raised his eyebrows and asked curiously, "Oh? How did they do it?"
The Invisible Woman frowned slightly and replied, "Cage was completely burned to ashes by the humanoid. As for Red Tank, Scarlet Witch sent him to California."
"But I heard that Wanda exhausted herself and collapsed. I don't know when she will wake up."
