Chapter 5 - Knowledge ?

After a day of travel, Elias finally learned that Master Zorak's destination was a Wizard Academy called Lilith's House.

This Wizard Academy was very far away, requiring at least two months of sailing across the sea.

"Before we reach Zelato Harbor, we still have to visit two cities. During this time, if you have any basic questions, I can answer them for you once for free."

On the small path with a group of seven, Master Zorak slowly spoke.

After a day of observation, Elias found that among the six Wizard Apprentices, the one closest to this Great Master was Kellen.

However, it was only natural; this fellow had practically become Master Zorak's servant, bustling about, serving the Wizard comfortably, and had received several benefits bestowed by the Wizard.

However, this fellow was disliked by the other five Wizard Apprentices.

Because his disdain and arrogance towards the other Wizard Apprentices were clearly visible on his face, looking at others with contempt, as if he was a cut above the other Wizard Apprentices.

"Great Master, you are truly magnificent. Just the day before yesterday, some parts of the Meditation Guidance you taught me were too profound and obscure, and I still haven't understood them..."

Kellen carried a large bundle full of the Wizard's miscellaneous items. Being closest to the Wizard, he could be the first to ask the Wizard for guidance.

Alden, who also wanted to ask the Wizard a question, cursed under his breath, "Bastard, what a slave-like demeanor."

Pursing his lips, Alden silently followed behind.

Jasper Thorne walked further back with his sister Jessa Thorne, watching the two in front vying to get close to the Great Master to ask questions, and said disdainfully, "Hmph, two fools with no Wizard talent. When we reach the Wizard Academy, and I become a Great Wizard, they'll all be nothing but pawns for me."

His sister Jessa Thorne, on the other hand, remained silent, seemingly a girl with no opinions of her own.

Elias did not rush forward to ask the Wizard questions, because Elias had two questions he truly wanted to know, but the Wizard only allowed one question per person.

What caught Elias's attention even more was the word "free" when the Wizard spoke to everyone.

In other words, once they arrived at the Wizard Academy, would Wizard Apprentices have to pay to ask Formal Wizards questions?

To cherish this free opportunity, Elias thought for a moment and focused his gaze on Lady Serina, who was sulking at the very back of the team.

Lady Serina was the daughter of Biser City's City Lord, but she was forced by the City Lord to go to Lilith's House. She was the only one among the six Wizard Apprentices who was not voluntarily becoming a Wizard Apprentice.

Perhaps she knew more about the Wizard Academy than the others.

Elias's most interesting questions at this moment were two: what was the Wizard World truly like, and what was the reason Wizards could master mysterious magic and Wizardry?

The second question seemed a bit profound, but regarding the first question, this City Lord's daughter surely knew something.

Thus, Elias quietly moved closer to Lady Serina.

"The Wizard World?"

Lady Serina, who was in sorrow, glanced at Elias in surprise.

When Elias had just approached, Serina, having experienced too much, thought Elias wanted to get close to her. After all, such things were common among nobles, and as the City Lord's daughter, she had unknowingly experienced countless seemingly accidental encounters since childhood.

However, while Serina disliked nobles who tried to get close, she disliked commoners of lower status even more. Under normal circumstances, Lady Serina would never have given Elias a good look, but thinking about the life she was about to face...

Biting her lip,Serina's delicate face showed sadness as she looked at Elias, who was full of yearning and longing, and sighed.

"Actually, the Wizard Continent is not as wonderful as you imagine. First of all, any status you currently possess is useless in the Wizard Continent, because you might never be able to return for the rest of your life."

Elias was greatly shocked. Never able to return for the rest of his life?

Was he going to be imprisoned!?

Seeing that Elias seemed to be misunderstanding, Serina said softly, "Anyway, before becoming a Formal Wizard, we will forever live in a place called the Wizard Continent. It is an incredibly vast area; don't try to imagine how big it is, it's simply much larger than you can imagine. There, Wizards are supreme beings, or rather, the power Wizards wield is supreme..."

Half a day later, Elias was deeply shocked by everything Serina said. If the Wizard World was truly as Lady Serina described, it was probably not as wonderful as he had imagined.

"In short, in the Wizard World, if you have no power, no magic stone, and no background, you had best remain low-key forever and do what you are supposed to do, otherwise death will be a perfectly normal occurrence."

 Serina said coldly.

Elias swallowed, and after a long moment, he finally began to slowly accept this cruel reality, even hesitating whether he should withdraw.

After all, the Wizard World Serina described was truly terrifying; human lives seemed worthless, and there were no noble lords to restrain these Wizards.

A Little Wizard Apprentice like himself might be casually erased from this world by some powerful Wizard someday.

He was just a commoner who had never seen anything of the world.

Seeing Elias's frightened expression, Serina didn't want to strike him down further and shook her head.

"Of course, the Wizard Continent is not as terrifying as you imagine. The Wizard Continent has its own operating rules, and those who master these operating rules are the Saint Towers that possess unimaginable power."

Silently following the team forward, after a long silence, Elias finally looked up, his gaze firm.

If he truly retreated due to fear, although he might return to Biser City to live a comfortable life, he would also lose the only chance to truly see this marvelous world!

Moreover, thinking of Elder Varus's face at the Viscount's Mansion, and how he and Master Hemlock were bullied by those knights, and now that he was a Wizard Apprentice, even the high and mighty City Lord had to treat him well—the difference between them...

Seeing Elias's gaze firm up,Serina then sneered.

"Hmph hmph, luckily you made the right choice. I dare to bet that if you dared to tell Great Master Zorak about quitting, he wouldn't have time to send you back. He would definitely just get rid of you casually. Hmm, look, like over there."

Elias and Serina were already at the very back of the team. Following Lady Serina's Oriented, Elias was instantly horrified.

Just ahead of the team, seven or eight bodies of ragged bandits, armed with axes and scimitars, lay sprawled, their eyes filled with fear. Master Zorak had acted so quickly that Elias hadn't even realized their group was under attack before most of the enemies were dead.

Boom!

A seven-to-eight-meter-tall red-eyed frog fell from the Sky, landing directly on the last fleeing bandit in the distance.

With a "splat," the bandit became a mixture of flesh and blood. Jasper Thorne, who was asking Master Zorak a question nearby, was completely stunned, his legs trembling uncontrollably.

Elias also felt his legs go weak. He didn't need to look to know that his face must be terribly pale, no better than Jasper Thorne's at the front of the team.

Lady Serina, on the other hand, although her face was also pale, remained relatively composed.

Goo-goo-goo...

The frog shrunk again and hopped onto Master Zorak's hand. Master Zorak continued to lead the team as if nothing had happened.

About an hour later, Elias stood respectfully beside Master Zorak, asking a question.

"The principle behind a Wizard's mastery of Wizardry and magic power? Hmm, that's a good question."

Master Zorak actually praised Elias, then added, "Very good!"

Elias looked at Master Zorak with some surprise.

"I have guided many Wizard Apprentices, and over ninety percent of them asked me to teach them killing Wizardry, neglecting the essence of a Wizard. The remaining ten percent asked all sorts of random, disorganized questions. There hasn't been a single question that saw through the essence like yours."

See through the essence? What essence did he see through?

Elias was puzzled.

Master Zorak then directly threw a book to Elias.

"To answer your question with the words of a Great Wizard: Give me infinite knowledge, and I will use myself as a fulcrum to pry open the Endless World. Therefore, for a Wizard, true power lies in the knowledge they possess and their own magic power. However, in the end, you will find that the source of all a Wizard's power is still the knowledge they possess."

Master Zorak pointed to the book in Elias's hand and said, "This book, Meditation Guidance, is my gift to you. It contains some of my past insights."

Elias held Meditation Guidance blankly, an incredulous expression in his eyes.

"Using one's own magic power as a fulcrum, and infinite knowledge as a lever, to pry open the Endless World? Since both one's own magic power and the knowledge one possesses are the foundation of a Wizard's power, why would Master Zorak say that knowledge is the source of all a Wizard's power?"

One question after another appeared, leaving Elias a bit bewildered.

However, seeing that Master Zorak had already walked away, seemingly only answering one question per person and not intending to waste more words, Elias no longer dared to chase after him to ask.

Elias, however, did not realize that these successive questions, if answered, would be the knowledge of the Wizard World.
