Chapter 5 - the emergency summit and a dragon’s disguise

Heart racing in his ears, the library was no longer a safe place, it was a a stage for ignis theatrics stage.

With his still exposed ears his face all flush from running , kaelan tail swayed violently behind him as he run , a painful reminder of his humiliation.

He burst out of the main doors into the cool afternoon air even so he still keep running, he need to get away not just from the library but from this insane guy too!, kaelan felt haunted and hunted, he doesn't go to the dorm : ignis knew where that was and it was another problem to run from!, instead, he made for a obscure and rarely use campus building ,his internal storm raging.

He finally found an empty, dark lecture hall, slamming the door shut behind him. He leaned against it, panting

His droopy cat ears straight back up twitching and swiveling around trying to assess the empty room. "Stop it!, you absurd piece of biological fiction" kaelan slap them down, flat on his head. He was exasperated as he sat on the floor, he pull his knees to his chest , and buried his head in his fold arms, his tail wrapped around his leg uncontrollably on it own accord.

His entire worldview was shattered piece by piece, his precious rigid control had been utterly destroyed by one tall, crimson-haired man, his stress overwhelmed him mentally, physically and even emotionally , he sigh wearily.

He needs help. Not from police ( of course not) because what would he explain to them?, that a handsome man magically put a tail onto me?! ,No! Of course not , he need council of war.

He run his neck and wearily pull out his phone and dial his friends most trusted friends (…) ,

An hour as passed and his trusted friends were there, kaelan tiny single room feel bless without ignis presence ( thanks God) .

Tamsin, kaelan's best friend was perched on an chair, her silver-tipped fox tail drape elegantly over her side, she was a full shifter after all ( yeah of course) but one kaelan had learn to ignore, out of sheer necessity of course , they had long established friendship.

She was calm and logical, and now staring at kaelan elegant tail tapping softly against the floor .

Marcus , his other friend who's also a troublemaker…, a solidly no shifter, a simple human paramedic student who had seen far too much to been surprised , sat on the floor and look at kaelan fluffy droop ears.

Kaelan still wearing his oversized hoodie take it off feeling gradually hot . " so let me get this straight" Marcus begins, running a hand through his hair. " this ignis guy or something, have no fangs, no tails , no ears and certainly no visible traits—just walk up and told you he was magic and now you have the BEST DAMN TAIL AND EARS IVE EVER SEEN!" Marcus try touching kaelan ears .

Kaelan slap his hand away . " they are not 'damn good!' They are an abomination and an insult to my personality!" Kaelan hiss and snapped at him . " I spend my entire life saying that this was all nonsense, and now, I'm…this" he point at his tails and ears with a self disgusted expression . " IT A CURSE! It have to be a CURSE!" Kaelan says clearly frustrated.

Tamsin kneel down near kaelan and gently raise her tail it wrap around kaelen tail , he look her curious of what she is doing the she touch it , he freeze but let her touch it . " Booh I couldn't touch it but her she can!" Marcus put his both thumbs down, he get out more like a side character doing that.

Kaelan and tamsin didn't mind him . "It does feels real though!," Tamsin says, her voice soft . " and I'm clearly sure that shifter traits don't just appear or fully grown overnight , this has to be a powerful magic. You were right about this one…at least" she says softly and sigh, " you have been targeted with something REAL!" Marcus scream loudly happily finding this normal.

Kaelan felt his face tighten with frustration " SHUT UP Marcus!,…, so am I stuck like this?, for the rest of my life?" He lay down and curl on himself " I'm stuck like this? Stuck looking like some ridiculous fluffy cat cosplay idiot"

Marcus start laughing " oh man you got a sassy mouth there! The cat takes well with your sassy and sarcasm personality!" Marcus says laughing, kaelan glare at him then he force himself to stop " I'm sorry, I'm sorry I…hahaha I just can't contain my laugh!, you look gorgeous!" Marcus says laughing and while his tears away then place a reassuring hand on kaelen shoulder. " did you finish laughing!" Kaelan tail tapped back and forth on the floor.

Then Tamsin sigh and shake her head, I'm in front of two idiot, no one better than the other!,

" first we gotta figure it out , first step : we gotta find out who he is really that ignis!" Marcus says

" you told us that he is a dragon guy or something?" Tamsin add her tail wagging even if she have a calm expression but her excitement is on a other level.

" yeah that what he told me too!" Kaelan lay back down on the floor he look at the ceiling up .

Time goes on as kaelan discussed with his friends, and meanwhile in that time ignis had gone back to his realm , he changed to a classic red kimono and sit lazily on his throne.

He watched kaelan —his exasperated pet

his entertaining cynic—through a shimmering portal of pure gold magic. He saw Kaelan surrounded by his friends, his ears flat, his massive tail drooping in an attitude of sulky defeat.

A slow and profoundly satisfied smirk spread across his face . " He's beautiful when he's enraged and flustered," Ignis murmured to the ancient, scaled attendant beside him. "The way those little ears twitch with fury... remarkable." Ignis imagination running wild with the most disgusting love making scenes " just imagining him sobbing , his droopy ears and a twitching tail at each trust!" He lick lips and smirk.

The attendant merely bowed, knowing better than to comment on the King's bizarre new fascination.

The attendant close their mouth and just stays quiet each time they look at each other's attendants they have a confused expression on.

Ignis finally terminated the spell that allowed him to view Kaelan's dorm, the golden light dissolving into smoke. He stood, stretching his enormous frame. The heavy, crimson and gold-embroidered robes of the Dragon King felt constricting.

"Right," Ignis announced, a new plan forming in his mind. "The tailored suits and the grand pronouncements were too much. It only cemented his belief that I'm just an over-dramatic, wealthy eccentric. And the tail was an excellent catalyst for his disbelief, but it only amplified his anger."

He walked over to a massive, black chest carved with fire-breathing serpents. He opened it and pulled out a simple pile of clothes: plain, dark jeans; a grey, non-designer hoodie; and a cheap, canvas backpack. He shed his royal robes, revealing his powerful, scaled form beneath—though the scales immediately retreated under his skin, leaving him looking like a very large, very handsome human man.

He ran a hand through his hair " too recognizable!" He pulled a simple leather tie from a drawer and, with a few practiced motions, pulled the thick, fiery hair back into a tight, low knot at the nape of his neck, making his sharp features look less regal and more rugged.

He looked down at the casual clothes with a look of livid disdain, but quickly replaced it with a determined grin.

"If he wants to believe in normal, I shall be devastatingly normal," Ignis decided. "A new student. Quiet. Understated. And much, much closer to his personal space.

He pulled on the simple clothes, taking one last look at his reflection—the transformation was effective. He looked like an impossibly good-looking graduate student, certainly not a Dragon King. ( of course,) (I rolled my eye)

With a powerful wave of his hand, Ignis opened a temporary portal back to the human realm, this time aiming for the ground floor of Kaelan's apartment building.

"Let's try this again, Kaelan,"Ignis chuckled, stepping through the shimmering doorway. "The King is ready to play your game."
