It was Wednesday, the middle of our week in paradise, and I had made a terrible mistake.
I stared at the itinerary on Yichen's phone, specifically at the item I had confidently selected over breakfast: Option C: Jungle Expedition.
In my head, it had looked like a scene from a movie. Sunlight filtering through trees, colorful birds singing melodies, maybe a cute monkey or two throwing fruit at us playfully. We would walk hand-in-hand, looking rugged and adventurous, discovering hidden waterfalls.
The reality was... stickier. And louder. And had significantly more legs.
"Are you sure we're going the right way?" I asked, my voice pitching up slightly as I swatted a fern away from my face. "Because I'm pretty sure I just saw a spider the size of my fist wearing a hat."
