Chapter 6 - Setting Plans in Motion

It only took a few minutes for them to be able to get back to the apartment. When they got there, Michael quickly went back to his room, before coming out with $10.

The fare was supposed to be about $3.5 but since he had already promised that he was going to pay triple, he had to do that. It was just that, the amount that he had on him was way lower than what he was supposed to pay.

"Brat, what is the meaning of this? We agreed that you are going to triple the fare, so, why are you only paying double?" The bearded taxi driver asked, his expression turning fierce.

Michael could only smile helplessly at that. He had carried $8 with him when he was going to work, which he had left back in the office.

The other $10 was what he had left in the apartment, which was why he giving it to the driver.

Slightly embarrassed, Michael said, "Well, I wanted to take my ID, so that you can take me to the bank, that is where I will pay the rest of the money. It is why I told you that I will double the fare for you to take me to the bank."

The taxi driver seemed to get angry, but then, he thought, he had only wasted a little time, and had gotten a bit of extra cash. Well, he was only missing 50 cents, which was not that much.

After taking a deep breath, the taxi driver looked at Michael deeply. Finally, he seemed to have made a decision and said, "Okay, let's go. But, I hope you keep your word. Otherwise…"

Even though he did not finish what he was saying, Michael understood, this was a threat. Still, he did not really take it that seriously.

In any case, it was not as if he was planning to go against his word. Secondly, what could this guy do to him if he decided not to pay the extra?

Regardless, he went ahead and picked up his ID card, before the two of them left the apartment once again. They hid it back to the place where the car was parked, before the driver asked for the destination.

Michael quickly mentioned the branch of the bank that he was heading to. So, the driver drove there.

The location of the bank was quite a distance away from where he resided, taking about 20 minutes in order to get there.

Upon arrival, Michael quickly got out of the car, then entered into the bank. He directly joined a line that led to the teller, which was not long, only having three people.

After a little while, it was his turn to be served.

"I would like to withdraw $1,000." Michael stated the purpose of his visit.

The man behind the counter was slightly surprised that Michael had such an amount of money in the bank. In his mind, he could not help but click, 'Never judge the book by its cover.'

The clothes that Michael was wearing, despite them being presentable, they were extremely cheap. For someone who had $1,000 in their bank account, should they not dress any better?

But still, due to the work etiquette, he still went ahead to serve the customer. Additionally, he did not believe that someone would just come over to withdraw such a huge amount of money if they did not have that money in their account.

That was unless they wanted to cause trouble, which he did not believe that someone would come to do at the bank, considering that there were police officers available just outside the bank.

"Please fill this form." The bank teller said as he handed Michael a form.

It was not a big document, which allowed Michael to be able to fill the required details within just a minute. After that, he handed over his ID card, before he waited.

The bank teller accessed Michael's account, and when he saw the balance within the account, he was immediately dumbfounded.

He looked at the screen In front of him, before looking at Michael, before gazing back at the screen.

He just could not believe that this kid, who was so shabbily dressed, was actually so rich. This was quite a surprise, but having experienced a lot of things from working at the bank, the teller still went ahead and processed the transaction.

A little while later, Michael received the money. He received 9 $100 bills, and the other$100 bill was divided into smaller amounts.

Michael finally felt relieved. His balance might say that he had over $100,000, but, it was always reassuring to have the cash that he could touch.

Since he had already completed what had brought in here, he headed towards the exit of the bank. When he got to the taxi driver, he handed him the $20 bill, before thanking him, then turned around and headed back into the bank.

The taxi driver was left dumbfounded, looking at the $20 bill in his hand. This amount was way above what Michael needed to pay.

But by the time that he wanted to say something, Michael had already disappeared into the bank, leaving the driver speechless.

He thought about the place that Michael was living, and his ability to just spend $20 for fare. No matter how much he thought about it, it just felt unbelievable.

In the end, he shook his head, before driving away. In any case, it was not as if it was his money that was being spent.

On the other hand, when Michael got back inside the bank, he headed straight towards another counter. He had another intention, which was, to create another account.

This account that had a balance of $100,000 was something that Dante knew about. Since he had decided to break ties with the gangsters, he had to do it thoroughly.

The procedure of opening a bank account was quite lengthy as compared to withdrawing the money. But even then, in less than an hour, every procedure had been completed.

Michael then went ahead and transferred the over $98,000 to the new account, before he asked the previous account to be locked.

With this out of the way, it was finally time for him to go ahead and deal with another pressing issue. Which was, he needed a phone, another SIM card, then do some shopping, to get a source of SP.

There was quite a number of shops that could be found in the surrounding area, which needed Michael to only walk for a little while.

He entered Into a store, immediately being welcomed by one of the salespersons.

"Good morning sir, how would you like me to assist you?" A sales lady approached Michael just after he entered the store.

Despite the clothes that Michael was wearing, he was not ignored, though, the sales lady believed that Michael was just here to do some window shopping.

"I would like to buy a phone. Any recommendations for a phone whose price ranges between $150 to $200." Michael stated his requirements.

If he wanted a very high-end phone, he could just buy it within the store. In fact, it would be even better if he just bought a laptop, as that would be more convenient.

It was just that, he could not buy a very cheap phone, considering the plans that he was having in his mind. So, at least, the phone had to be decent enough in order to meet most of the needs that he had.

The sales lady was left stunned by Michael's words. She looked at him once again, as if she wanted to confirm what he had said was not a joke.

But, looking at his expression, it seemed that he was extremely serious. So, despite the doubts that she was having in her heart about what Michael had said, she still did what her job needed her to do.

With a polite smile on her face, she said, "We do have several of them. I don't know what your requirements on the phone are."

Just some simple requirements, "I want the Display to be about 6.4-6.6″ Full HD+ (1080p), a storage of at least 128 GB and 6 GB RAM."

"We have some of them here. Please, this way." The sales lady responded as she led the way.

Michael followed towards one side of the store. There, the lady showed different types of phones to Michael, before finally, Michael made a decision.

He bought a phone that was priced at $189. And when he took out several hundred dollar bills, the lady was even more shocked.

After making the payment, Michael went to a retail store located not far away from where they were. This store could sell SIM cards, and Michael was able to complete the procedure within just a few minutes.

No, with a new phone and SIM card, there was another thing that he needed to deal with. So, he headed straight towards a real estate agency that he knew about.

Despite him working for the gangsters, it was not as if he was completely limited in terms of freedom. Once in a while, he would visit the other parts of the city, and he happened to see a real estate agency back when he was coming to the bank to open an account.

Just a few minutes later, he arrived at the real estate agency. One of the agents approached him, "Good morning day, how may I offer my assistance?"

"I would like to rent a house." Michael stated the purpose of his visit.
