Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Convention; Bombshells

"Get them into the hover cars! We'll stay behind and deal with this pest." The guard who threw the car at Tomas said.

He was a huge man, one who stood at seven feet tall, with broad shoulders. From his spine to his shoulders, to his arms, everything had been replaced with bionic components.

As the man turned around to face Tomas, the skin across his chest and neck began to harden, growing denser to the point where it looked as though they would impede his movement.

"We should be able to deal with him in two minutes or thereabout."

"From the Idra he's been emitting, he's just a Seeding Egomaniac. We're stronger are the stronger Seeds." The huge man said.

His partner's arms soon morphed into blades.

"Just a Seeding? Don't regret your words." Tomas grinned, excited that he could finally take out some of his annoyance on someone rather than chasing after them.

"Step back, Blade. I'll deal with him alone." The huge man said.

"This is not the time to indulge in such challenges, Crane."

"Doesn't matter if you come at me together. I'll take both your lives." Tomas charged at them without an ounce of fear in his heart.

At the same time, Crane crossed his bionic arms before drawing them back. The moment he stretched his arms to the limit of his arc, twin jet propulsion ignited from his elbows, propelling him forward with a speed faster than Tomas's.

By the corner, Blade also moved, tailing right behind Crane.

Tomas's grin became even wilder at the sight of this. "Come on!" He cried out in excitement. Suddenly, the black metallic substance engulfed his entire body, turning him into a man of dark steel.

He braced his shoulders, intending to collide with Crane. Tomas didn't even think of dodging. It was a thing of pride for.

"Anvil!" Tomas shouted when Crane was a few inches before him. His chant was like a spell that anchored his body to the ground. To the point where it seemed like the gravity around his body had changed. His figure became three times heavier than it was.

Bang!

Crane slammed into him head-on.

At first, he thought the young man was conceited, moreover, with his hardened skin, he didn't think much of coming to much harm. However, after clashing, the impact was catastrophic. Crane felt his bones break.

Blood spilled out of his body from different openings.

It was as though he used jet propulsion to charge at a metal wall.

Without giving him much time to catch his breath, Tomas drove a steel fist into his face while also slapping to the side, hitting Blade's sword-like hand.

Chink!

His morphed hand broke in two before he flew off.

Tomas was just about to indulge when he saw two SUVs take off the ground. "Oh shit! They're getting away with the scientists in two separate SUVs. Both black." He said into his comms.

Shit, did I mess up?

Just when he thought that he had failed at his job, from the corner of his eye, from one of the windows of the top floor, a blue shot out the glass, melting right through its corner. And then another, and then a third.

Before he could figure out what was happening, a familiar figure burst through the window falling straight down towards one of the escaping SUVs.

It was Narvel.

Tomas was stunned. This normie worm is crazier than I thought. A fall from there is suicide, that's eight floors. Although he thought this, his face was filled with smiles.

He seemed to like this type of recklessness.

Narvel didn't even think much about how he was going to land. The SUV was all he had in his sights. He spread his arms out, adjusting himself mid-air.

In a few seconds, he landed on the hood of the SUV, causing it to swerve. The scientists within the vehicles screamed their lungs out.

Crash!

The windscreen broke and Narvel forced his way into the car, quickly using his firearm to dispose of the two assassins seated at the front of the car. He opened the driver's door and pushed the dead assassin out of the vehicle.

Just when he started to think of how to deal with the second SUV, Narvel another person flew out another window of the top floor.

It was Armand.

With a halo of two shades over his head. One side blue and the other blood red.

"Arrgh!!" Armand cried out as he reached for the edge of the SUV. He caught the back of the car and pulled it with him.

Boom!

The ground below caved in as he landed with a car held up over his head. At the same time, the ratio of red on his halo overwhelmed the blue side for a short while before readjusting.

Armand began panting as he let out turbid air from his lungs. Obviously, the feat he just achieved took a lot from him.

Once again, Tomas was shocked. Not only was Armand as crazy as Narvel, but he also had the strength to back that craziness.

I should avoid annoying the captain any further. He thought.

Seeing that the other SUV had been captured, Narvel relaxed a bit and drove the hover car back to the ground.

As he approached the ground, the halo over Armand's head seemed to charge up some more and his face morphed into fury, but that only lasted a short moment before Armand suppressed the urge to charge at Narvel and break a few of his bones.

For an Egomaniac with Wrath as his awakening Catalyst, he has quite a reign over his wrath. Narvel thought as he smirked and landed the car.

He was well aware that Armand wanted to beat him up, however, he didn't seem to be scared. Especially after witnessing the inhuman strength and durability that his captain displayed.

"Come out the car this instance and explain yourself!" Armand ordered.

Narvel stepped out of the vehicle and looked around the parking lot. Apart from him, Armand, Tomas, and the scientist, there was no one else in the parking lot.

That's weird. Will people choose to escape danger on foot over their vehicles?

More importantly, he was checking to see if he could sight any other cars on the road or in the air. He was searching for the woman whom he overheard on the transmission.

"Are you deaf?" Armand asked, still waiting for his explanation.

"This isn't the time for that," Narvel dismissed his question. "Big boy, how many cars did you see leaving the parking lot when you got here?"

Armand was about to interrupt, however, the moment he heard the question, his mind began working.

This normie is a psycho, he's still not afraid of the captain. "Too many to count."

"Then why are there still this many cars in the parking lot? Surely people wouldn't want to run all the way to safety. It's abnormal." Narvel countered.

"Maybe they're dead," Tomas said.

"Impossible, there are still screams coming from the building. Many are still alive. They've been surrounded and trapped inside the building." Armand said.

"A hostage situation?" Tomas asked, a bit confused.

"Unreasonable, unnecessary and too messy…" Narvel dismissed as he went to one of the cars still parked in the lot.

Both his captain and teammate looked at him and wondered what he was up to again. Before they could say anything, they saw Narvel lying on the ground, checking under the car. He got up and checked other vehicles.

"We have another problem… actually, a lot of problems."

Armand went to the closest car and checked it the same way Narvel checked the rest. His expression morphed into shock.

"And this is only the parking lot outside. There must be more bombs underneath the cars in the basement parking lot." Narvel voiced out.

"What! Bombs!? Are they trying to bring the entire building down?" Tomas suddenly forgave Narvel for ordering him to chase after the scientists. He felt that being outside was better than being inside.

Armand remained silent. He kept on glancing at Narvel, curious to find out what the boy knew. The boy's right, though, this isn't the right time for this. "We've got to evacuate the building as fast as possible." He uttered.

"We!?" Tomas exclaimed. "I'm bulletproof, not bomb proof."

"Well, you signed up for this type of life when you chose to join the police force."

"Fuck no, I joined the bounty hunter's division for a reason. I don't wanna save anybody's weak ass. Let's just wait for reinforcements."

"It'll be too late by then. They're taking too much time to respond… moreover, there should have been a lot of officers stationed outside the convention, and yet, there's no sign of any of them at the moment." Narvel said.

Armand looked at Narvel, agreeing with him for the second time tonight.

"So you want us to head back into the building?" Suddenly, Nyla's voice reached their ears. She too had made her way to the parking lot, alongside Sera.

"Fine by me," Sera said, scanning the area. "Wait… where's Agnar?"
