Chapter 4 - Birth of a Demon (2)

"Fine.. come at me!" Raziel roared, exploding towards the charging creatures.

The next one minute felt like the longest to Raziel. Every part of his body flashed with killing intent, battling the group of creatures trying to bring him down. He wasn't going to let them.

Yes... He was going to kill them! He would defy this cursed fate placed upon him.

His arms landed on the eyes of one of the creatures, leaving a pulsating withered flower in its place. His sword flashed, cutting through flesh and tendons of another Demic spawn, bringing it down.

His body was riddled with injuries, his chest had sunken in, just from the sheer strength from one of the spawns colliding into him.

His breath came out in short rasps, yet he kept on fighting. His hand found it way into the mouth of one of the creatures, the mark of devour instantly forming within, stacking as much as he could before his hand was ruthlessly torn apart from its socket.

Raziel paid no attention to it. Nor did he allow the pain to affect his action. He swung his sword with his one good hand, plunging it into the chest of one of the creatures that had leapt towards him, causing it to collapse on him.

Raziel struggled, pushing his sword deeper and piercing through its heart. Though finally dead, Raziel was trapped in its weight, left in a dangerous situation where he was open for attack.

Gritting his teeth, he placed his hand on the body of the creature. "As long as I have enough energy, I'll be able to heal from whatever injuries sustained." He just had to ensure his vitals were protected.

But none came. The area was covered in a strange stillness.

The creature before him finally dissolved into motes of energy seeping into his body. Struggling to his feet, he noticed the remaining beasts slumped on the ground, flailing at their skin as if trying to gouge out something.

Pain. They felt their insides crumbling apart by an unseen force.

Raziel eyes finally landed on the last beast, the one which he had struck down with his sword. The abomination was wounded, its spine jutting out with blood flowing down like a stream.

"I bet you're regretting your actions now." He muttered, slowly making his way across the field.

The creature let out a muffled shriek, swinging his paws at Raziel. But they lacked their once devastating strength.

Easily gliding around it, he effortlessly plunged his sword in the middle of its eyes.

His hand soon rested on the creature still body. Raziel scanned the area as his innate ability activated instantly.

Their deadly battle had wrecked a large part of the jungle.

Ahhh. Exhaling softly, he felt a storm of energy enter his body. The creatures behind him had finally been devoured, replenishing his depleted energy.

The creature before him soon turned into motes of light also, entering his body.

Exhaling softly, Raziel stared at the stump of his left hand, which was slowly regrowing.

I guess the regeneration skill is still too low to knit back flesh and bone in the blink of an eye." Also, the amplifier skill had long been deactivated.

Leaning on a nearby rock, his mind went through his previous actions since his awakening. Just from battling and devouring a couple of monsters, he had grown instantly.

'But not enough.' He thought. Hell, he was still at the bottom of the barrel.

As he rested, he ensured he was the only one within the area. 'I better get moving before more of those creatures come.' Just as he rose, patting his body, he suddenly stopped in his tracks, his eyes staring into the distance.

"Ohh. This is gonna cause quite some headache." He muttered, though he couldn't hide the dangerous glint in his eyes.

With his perception now unlocked, he was more attuned to his surroundings and was able to hear the rustling of leaves caused by a group of figures, just within the range of entering into the destroyed area.

...

Deep within the jungle, two figures slowly made their way forward.

"Can't believe we were sent here just because of that cursed thing." One of them spat out, a guy with a mohawk style.

"There is no doubt about it. He's supposed to be dead by now. His body already torn into shreds by those damn creatures. Haha."

Cladded in long grey robes, they marched forward, stepping on twigs and talking loudly without a single care about the jungle teeming with Demics. By the way they moved, they were quite confident in their strength.

"They aren't hidding their aura either." Raziel muttered, leaning on the rock. Judging by their aura, they were most likely in the Inner realm.

"Should I start with them?" Shaking his head, he stared at the night sky.

"No, I won't be able to take out one talk less about the two."

He needed a plan.

Activating the camouflage skill, Raziel quickly moved from his previous spot and headed towards a row of trees with large branches.

Climbing quickly to the top, he watched the figures from the darkness.

"How are we going to locate that bastard body?" The second guy muttered with a frown.

"What? Are you expecting to come up with his body. Hahaha. You truly are funny." The mohawk guy said, stopping beside his partner.

Raziel watched them with alert eyes. He knew that although they were just at the Inner realm, their strength wasn't to be joked with.

But he couldn't let go of this opportunity. Devouring them would boost his strength greatly.

"Maybe... that would work." Resting softly on the bark of a tree, a plan slowly took form in his head.
