It's common knowledge: fire plus ice equals an explosion!
The moment Sakura Haruno activated her Devil Fruit power, Itachi Uchiha sensed a deadly threat from another world. Without a second's hesitation, he chained three Body Flicker Techniques, putting hundreds of meters between them.
Boom!
Flames erupted, and a scorching heatwave swept through the area.
The blast's impact helped Sakura break free from Itachi's genjutsu, Demonic Illusion: Shackling Stakes.
"Phew, finally free," she muttered, stretching her limbs. In an explosion that could've killed an adult ninja, Sakura walked away with just a few scratches.
Pirate world physiques are something else, huh?
Her Observation Haki spread out, forming a sonic imaging map of the forest in her mind. Her vision stretched, darting through the shadowed trees until she locked onto Itachi, crouching in the distance.
Sakura stomped the ground, her body blurring into an afterimage with a whoosh.
"Found you!"
Her crimson, delicate face appeared right in front of Itachi as she closed the distance. Her fist swung, encased in harsh frost, sending a cascade of ice spikes raining down.
"You have a bloodline limit too? No… you're a first-generation bloodline awakener!" Itachi quickly pieced together what he knew about Sakura, reaching a conclusion.
To fend off the ice spikes, he rapidly formed hand signs.
Earth Style: Mud Wall
Four earthen walls rose, swiftly sealing at the top.
Outside, ice pelted the structure like hail, the sound of shattering ice echoing as the walls trembled under the assault.
"Huff… huff!" Inside, Itachi exhaled frosty breaths as the temperature plummeted.
"I've got to use Fire Style!" he decided, channeling fire-natured chakra, his hands flashing through seals.
Crack… crack!
The mud walls groaned under strain, finally collapsing under Sakura's ferocious punches.
Fire Style: Phoenix Sage Fire Technique!
Itachi inhaled deeply, spitting out flames shaped like impatiens seeds, scattering in all directions.

The chakra-controlled flames clashed with Sakura's ice spikes, sending clouds of steam billowing, shrouding the forest in mist.
"Using Fire Style on purpose, huh?" Sakura muttered. Her vision was obscured, but her Observation Haki kept Itachi firmly in her sights.
She saw his fingers form the "Boar" seal.
"Planning another Mud Wall? Bring it on!"
"No, that's enough for today. I apologize again for the earlier disturbance," Itachi said, knowing she could see him. He offered an apologetic smile. "Goodbye."
Whoosh!
His black-robed figure flickered and vanished. Sakura's fist smashed through his afterimage, splintering the tree behind it.
Landing with a flip, she froze the collapsing tree solid with spreading ice.
"He got away?" Sakura muttered, reviewing her Haki scan. She noticed a detail: when Itachi formed the Boar seal, his pupils seemed to quiver.
She'd thought it was him tracking her with dynamic vision, but now she realized it was likely a unique eye-based sealing technique he'd developed.
"I've still got a lot to learn about ninja combat," she sighed, gathering her things and heading home.
Crossing a few streets, Sakura reached her house. As expected, she found an old man in a red hat waiting inside, alongside her stiffly seated father and her nervously serving mother.
"Yo, old man! You're here!" Sakura greeted, waving casually before plopping onto the couch.
"Sakura!" Her parents, already on edge, exploded into a duet of scolding roars.
"Hahaha, it's fine, it's fine!" Sarutobi Hiruzen laughed, waving them off as he sipped the tea Sakura's mother, Mebuki, had brought.
Setting the cup down, Hiruzen leaned forward, hands clasped under his chin. "Sakura, I heard…"
Crackle!
Sakura placed her hand on the table, her Devil Fruit power forming a small ice flower that bloomed instantly.
"As I thought!" Hiruzen murmured, his suspicions confirmed as he saw the ice flower.
Immense physical strength, chakra levels far beyond her peers, exceptional perception, and now this unique chakra nature beyond the basics.
"Sakura, you might have awakened a bloodline limit!" Hiruzen declared. He reached for his pipe, intending to light it, but noticing Sakura, he put the match back and just held the pipe in his mouth.
"Yeah, I know. I read about it in the ninja school library," Sakura said, waving her hand to dispel the ice flower, evaporating the moisture cleanly.
Ever since she used her Devil Fruit power against Itachi, she'd known her abilities would catch the eye of Konoha's higher-ups. She was curious, though—how would the Third Hokage handle her?
"Well, Sakura, you're quite the studious one," Hiruzen said. "Then you must know how rare first-generation bloodline awakeners are, right? So, I have a proposal: how about joining the Anbu?"
Despite Sakura being only six, she was a genius bloodline awakener. With Konoha short on talent, the Anbu could be a perfect fit.
Hiruzen had heard from her teachers that Sakura was breezing through the academy's curriculum. Schoolwork was no issue for her, so she could handle Anbu duties alongside her studies.
Plus, her bloodline status wouldn't stay hidden for long, and her civilian genius aura would make her a target—especially for a certain old friend of his.
There was a saying among Konoha's elite: When Danzo's quiet, he's up to no good.
After Hiruzen had outmaneuvered Danzo last time, costing him some operatives, Danzo had been suspiciously silent. He was probably plotting something big.
Better to bring Sakura into the Anbu now than let Danzo make a move. It'd give Hiruzen an excuse to shut him down when he came whining—and secure a bloodline genius for the village. A win-win (or rather, a double win for Hiruzen).
"Anbu? Nope!" Sakura waved her hands, rejecting the idea outright.
"Alright, then I'll just—cough—why not?" Hiruzen sputtered, caught off guard.
"Too much hassle, too many rules. I'm not interested!" the pink-haired pirate girl said, hands on her hips, standing her ground.
Hiruzen could've never predicted someone would refuse him like this.
"I could assign you as my personal guard alongside Blade. Light duties, minimal restrictions, just confidentiality," he offered.
"Nope!"
"There's mission pay!"
"Hmm!" Sakura's antenna-like hair strand perked up, her stance softening.
"The pay's pretty good," Hiruzen pressed, seizing the opportunity.
"How much?" Sakura asked, crossing her arms and cracking one eye open.
"Equivalent to completing one A-rank mission a month—200,000 ryo," Hiruzen said, grinning around his pipe.
"Deal!" Sakura nodded enthusiastically. Ninja training was expensive—tools, medicines, scrolls, all needing constant restocking.
For an average ninja, she could've graduated, become a Genin, taken missions, and saved up slowly. But her training had already surpassed typical Genin levels, yet she lacked the means to earn matching income.
Her parents couldn't afford a ninja's expenses either. The Anbu job offered a steady paycheck, perfectly meeting her needs.
