Chapter 22 - Encounter

Feeling himself falling, Peter quickly reached out with his other hand.

Fortunately, the Web-Shooter on his left hand was still working. However, due to some of his habits, he had initially looked for a fixed point on the right side to shoot his webs. Using the left-hand Web-Shooter to shoot over there was obviously not ideal.

So, in a hurry, he could only search for a suitable fixed point on his left.

The speed of free fall was very fast.

Even though Peter reacted quickly, he didn't have time to think too much in his haste, so he just randomly chose a place that seemed about right.

Plop!

Feeling the solid force coming back from the web, Peter relaxed a little.

"Great, that's the idea... Aaaah, still not good enough to change my angle!"

Peter's body almost crashed into a car below due to the angle deviation.

In a moment of crisis, he grabbed onto the Web-Shooter with both hands, putting all his effort into his lower body, almost folding in half.

Whoosh!

His butt got a sudden chill.

He vaguely felt the friction as his rear end scraped against the metal roof of the car.

But now wasn't the time to worry about that.

"Watch out, watch out! Spider-Man express is coming through!"

Peter shouted, trying to find some humor in the situation.

"Waaah!"

The web finally swung to its highest point, and Peter slammed directly into the edge of a three-story residential building. He then fell onto a second-story fire escape, finally dropping from the edge of the fire escape and crashing to the ground.

"Ouch! My back!" Peter groaned as he lay on the ground. The fusion of his body with the spider gene didn't seem to have reached its peak yet; his strength was slightly lacking.

That impact likely injured his Spine, leaving his body suddenly weak.

"Sorry, buddy, this really isn't my fault. Who knew your Web-Shooter would fail at a critical moment?" Peter muttered to himself, apologizing to another consciousness within his body.

In fact, even after the second time traveling through, he wasn't entirely sure what state he was currently in.

Was he temporarily borrowing another Spider-Man's body?

Or was he temporarily merged with another Spider-Man?

Well, whatever the case, it wouldn't hurt to apologize first.

Just then, not far away, several figures quickly walked towards Peter, who was lying on the ground.

They walked along, pulling out white masks and weapons like metal rods and pipes.

The leader said, "Who's going to get the boss? Tell him we caught the Masked Clown!"

Spider-Sense jolted Peter awake. He barely lifted his head, looking at them. Night vision helped him make out their outfits in the dark. "Who... are you?"

The leader strode over to Peter, looking down at him. "Let me guess, you must be the Spider Kid who's been causing trouble around here lately, right? Doesn't seem so impressive now!"

Huh, everyone's wearing masks these days? Peter assessed his body. The damage from the impact was rapidly repairing. This injury seemed to have stimulated his potential, further increasing the progress of the gene fusion.

About a minute?

No, thirty seconds is enough! Peter thought to himself.

"Get him!"

However, these people clearly didn't want to give him a moment's respite.

Four people surrounded Peter and started kicking and punching him. It was truly a case of a tiger being bullied by dogs when it fell into the plains.

Luckily, these guys didn't intend to remove his mask.

Peter thought with a wry smile.

As for their fists and feet?

Although it hurt a little, it was only a little. The damage they caused wasn't even as fast as his body could repair itself.

But this wasn't a sustainable situation.

If his overall body repair ability was 1, and that 1 was entirely used to repair his Spine, he could be fully healed within a minute.

Thirty seconds and he could regain control of his body.

But now, the external damage was diverting at least 0.3 of his 1 to repair it.

The remaining 0.7 to fix his Spine would take even longer.

And he didn't know if these people would keep escalating the attack.

If only there was something to distract them, so I could quickly repair myself, Peter thought.

"Argh, you, argh, are all, argh, just so weak?" Peter tried to achieve his goal with words.

"I heard this guy loves to talk trash?" the leader said.

"Why don't we throw him in the trash heap over there? There's plenty of 'trash' there!" another thug suggested with a nasty idea.

"Good idea, come on, give me a hand. One, two, three!"

Bang!

Peter's body was lifted by the three people and tossed onto a pile of black garbage bags stacked against the wall nearby.

"Oh, damn, this really feels like home," Peter chuckled.

"What are you laughing at, kid?" Several thugs walked up again, ready to continue messing with Peter's body.

Peter said with a smile, "Nothing, just this!"

He raised his left hand and shot out a web, his body following, climbing a short distance up the wall. Then, relying on his Wall-Crawler ability, he stopped, leaning against the wall.

"Wall-Crawler! Do you think we can't do anything to you now?" The leading thug sneered.

"No, no, I don't doubt your abilities, sir," Peter said, "But I have a question, and I wonder if you can answer it for me."

Several thugs stared coldly at Peter, seemingly pondering how to get him down from the wall.

Peter spoke matter-of-factly, "Why are you guys dressed like that? Are you trying to imitate Friday the 13th? Don't you think that stuff is a bit outdated?"

Friday the 13th, along with A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, were the four classic slasher films in American film history, and its main character, Jason, was known for wearing a hockey goalie mask and using a machete to dismember teenagers.

The thugs in front of him were dressed almost exactly like Jason.

But that film was from 1980; it was ancient.

"Shut your damn mouth, you little brat," the leading thug was furious. "Come down here if you've got the guts!"

"Okay," Peter replied readily, and actually jumped down.

"You... you really came down?" The leader of the thugs was stunned by his action.

Peter shrugged. "Can't be helped. I have a good quality, I listen to advice, unlike some people."

With that, his body moved swiftly.

Bang bang bang bang!

A series of thuds echoed, and four figures fell to the ground.

"I told you it was old-fashioned. But you had to do it this way. Didn't listen at all. See, this is what happens."

Then, Peter shot out web from his left-hand Web-Shooter, separately binding the people, then wrapping them all together.

"This is much more stylish now, like bound pigs. That's a look that never goes out of style."
