Chapter 175 - Avengers, Assemble!

"But later, she was banished by Odin. And the throne of Asgard was passed to Thor."

"Now that she has returned, what do you think she's here to do?" Strange asked.

Peter and Stark were both enlightened.

But hearing this, Thor's old man, who was called the King of the Gods, didn't seem like a good person either.

His own daughter had made great contributions, but after she achieved fame, he kicked her aside and turned around to give the throne to his son.

"Even Odin can't stop her?" Stark said.

"Odin is dead," Strange dropped a bombshell.

"What!" ×2 Peter and Stark were shocked.

This was the god-king of myth, the real king of the gods.

Judging by Thor's display of power, his father was clearly a formidable being.

And yet, he was dead?

Peter recalled that about half a year ago, he'd come to Strange, and Strange had told him that Thor and Loki had just left.

Had they gone to Norway?

Why Norway? Could it be related to this so-called Ragnarok?

Was Odin in Norway at that time?

Peter didn't know it, but he had almost grasped the truth with his amazing spider-sense.

"Because Odin died, no one stopped that death goddess from coming back to seize the throne, which caused Ragnarok, right?" Stark asked.

"Pretty much," Strange said, "This was something Odin anticipated, so you can't stop it, understand? Moreover, the death goddess Hela's power comes from Asgard. As long as Asgard exists, her power is endless. Even if you go, it's useless."

"There's only one way to defeat Hela, and that is..."

"Destroy Asgard!" Peter exclaimed, "Destroy her source of power and defeat her at the source. That is Ragnarok!"

"Yes!" Strange said.

Stark fell silent.

Thinking about it this way, it really is unsolvable.

Moreover, the god-king Odin had already arranged everything, so it was clear that they didn't need to take action.

"In that case, I think we can look at it from another angle," Peter said. "Asgard is destroyed, but what about the people of Asgard? They shouldn't all be dead, right? Thor, as a prince, should need to find a place for his people to live, right?"

"What are you getting at?" Strange asked.

"Their refuge is in Norway, isn't it?" Peter's eyes flashed with a wise light.

Strange nodded, looking at Peter with curiosity.

He snapped his fingers, and the darkness around them all dissipated, returning the room to its original study appearance.

"What are you going to do?"

Peter didn't answer directly, but said, "First, we can confirm that Thanos's goal isn't actually to destroy Earth, but to obtain the six Infinity Stones, right?"

"Yes," Strange affirmed.

"Where are the known Infinity Stones located right now?"

"There are two on Earth. The Time Stone is with me, and the Mind Stone is in Vision's head," Strange replied. "The Space Stone is in the Tesseract, which Thor took after the Battle of New York and brought to Asgard. You mean Thanos is likely to go to Asgard too?"

"Exactly!" Peter nodded. "In the past, Asgard was incredibly powerful. Thanos, even with the Black Order, might not have dared to covet it. However, after losing Odin and then Asgard itself, the Asgardians are just refugees. And they're refugees who just went through a divine war!"

"And these Asgardian refugees are preparing to come to Earth. Although Earth is currently just a low-level civilization, barely at the spacefaring level, we have the Sorcerer Supreme, the Avengers, the Kingdom of Wakanda, and so on. Even if Thanos doesn't care about us, we could still bring many variables to his Infinity War."

"So, if he wants to find a suitable opportunity to deal with the Asgardian refugees, now is undoubtedly the best time! Because now is undoubtedly their weakest moment!"

"I even suspect that the sudden return of Hela, the Goddess of Death, might also be Thanos's doing!"

Peter paused here, giving Stark and Strange a moment to process his words.

After a moment, he continued, "If that's the case, why can't we do the opposite?"

"You want to take the initiative and ambush Thanos while he's attacking Asgard?" Stark asked.

"Exactly!" Peter said. "That's a huge interstellar fleet capable of destroying civilizations! Why should we let such a massive battlefield be on our planet? It's best to defend by attacking!"

"Well said!" Stark highly approved of Peter's plan.

Although Earth was their base, theoretically, he could exert his greatest combat power on Earth.

But the risk of war on Earth was also the greatest.

Because they had nowhere to retreat!

Instead, if they could put the battlefield outside of Earth, such as the already destroyed Asgard?

Then, even if they couldn't win at that time, they could retreat to Earth, regroup, and have a second confrontation with Thanos!

Strange hesitated, as this was different from the "future" he had seen.

His "future sight" actually relied on existing information, using the Time Stone's abilities to observe.

There were many, many variables involved, and any small change would lead him to see a different future.

But in many of the futures he saw, there was no preemptive strike.

Because before this, he had never predicted that Peter's Spider-Sense could see Thanos in advance.

He wanted to look at the future again now, but firstly, this kind of magic was already very mentally draining. Secondly, he found that Peter was shrouded in a layer of mist. Any future related to him would be covered by this mist, thus losing much information while also introducing more variables.

He himself didn't know whether this was good or bad.

But he remembered that before the Ancient One died, she had told him that when facing Peter, there were only two choices: either, before he grew up, return him to his original state; or, let him turn the world upside down!

Strange looked at Peter for a long time, then turned to Stark: "In that case, we need to discuss this properly."

"Wait, this isn't a fight just for the three of us," Peter said, looking at Stark. "I think… the Avengers, shouldn't we regroup?"

Stark looked at him and nodded.

"Avengers, assemble!"
