Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Nova's POV

3 days later....

I don't think I've felt this hungry in a while, I guess starving to death would be a terrible way to die in the grand scheme of things.

I keep thinking that I dreamt of being transported here, but I have been here for a few days now at least, and every time I wake up, I'm still in this strange land.

When I tried to get help, like asking where I am, the year, or even for some food; they yelled at me, chased me away, threw stuff at me, or tried to hurt me; some succeeded, but I gave as good as I got back in return.

I was able to get some water from a fountain at least at a local park, however that's not going to sustain me for very long.

I am by no means a survivalist, but I don't know what I can eat plant-wise in this strange place that isn't poisonous, and I don't think I should risk it.

I was hoping for a split second that people would be nicer to me here, however that's clearly not gonna be the case, I guess I'm just destined to suffer my entire life no matter where I go.

I wonder where I am though for the umpteenth time, I'm clearly not in Warrington anymore.

The only thing I remember was being in Park fields, and not far from home at this point. I was being chased by a stalker, who could have done anything to me if he caught me.

He didn't catch me though, because I ended up being teleported here through the stepping stones in the park to this odd universe.

I think I need to find out where I am, and if I'm in the same year as I was before ending up here, although leaving this cave terrifies the life out of me.

Maybe it's due to the fact that everyone seems to have it out for me here, so I'm more cautious about keeping myself safe than usual.

It is a beautiful town though, with its breathtaking, sprawling hills, cliffs, nature parks, a beach with plenty of caves to explore; and plenty of rock pools to explore as well.

There are some really good eateries too, such as: themed restaurants, old fashioned looking diners, colourful cafés; impressive ice cream parlours, and a pop up market that seems to appear at least a couple times a week.

They also have some malls, theatres, and a cinema too. In fact it's not very different from a town, or city in America, although maybe not entirely.

I doubt I will survive here on this planet for long, especially when I haven't eaten in a few days, because if this goes on for too long I might die from starvation!

If only someone would just help me out, just give me something to eat, even a tiny morsel would be better than nothing, or even let me stay with them instead of being in this creepy, frigidly cold, dark cave.

I'm not scared of it, honestly I'm not, I just don't think it's sufficient to sleep in, or a great place to stay warm at night.

All I have left are the clothes on my back. I don't have anything else, because some ducks stole my stuff. I'm not sure if they were ducks, because they looked like ducks, but were as tall as a Canadian goose.

I haven't got a match, or lighter to burn the driftwood on the beach either, so I don't know what I'm supposed to do really. I guess camping really is as bad as my mum described.

I heard some strange noises while I was asleep last night. I don't know what they were, but it was enough to keep me awake, and scared. Not only am I now starving for food, but I'm exhausted, and cold now too.

I'm probably cold, because I'm hungry, unless I'm getting sick, in which case I'm even more screwed than I was before.

I'm keeping a piece of driftwood with me in case I need it to defend myself, although if someone has a gun, or other heavy artillery then I'm all out of luck.

I hear birds crying outside over the crashing waves, vocalising about their latest catch of the day, then suddenly there appears some footsteps, a bit distant from here, that I can just about make out over the other sounds.

My back goes ramrod straight, like a totem pole reaching for the sky, I start to feel my anxiety amp up as I grab the piece of driftwood nearest to me.

It feels heavy in my hands, but I can just about lift it, because it's less than 20 pounds in weight, although I can't really tell, because I'm not good at judging something like that.

I keep my back towards the wall, and just towards the corner closest to the cavern's entrance, right out of view of whoever is slowly approaching my current dwelling.

I don't know who it is, and I don't really care, that's not what's important anyway.

Regardless of whether I know them or not, the only thing that matters is keeping me from being harmed in any way, and as much as I humanly can.

I take no chances when it comes to my safety being at risk at this moment, therefore I will do what it takes to defend myself, even if it results in the other person dying, or in my death instead.

They're getting closer to the opening of the cave now, I can hear the echo getting stronger in the darkness as well as keys jangling from the sounds of it.

What should I do?! Do they mean to harm me?! I contemplated myself. Well if they do, I won't back away from a fight!

I'm determined to see this through, to protect myself, however that doesn't negate the crushing fear I feel.

They're further into the cave now, the approaching footsteps encroaching upon me at a slow, and cautious pace, which is strange when others have just darted at me in a surprising burst of speed.

Most people in this universe seem to be a different species, have superpowers, or something. That's new and baffling to me.

I wonder if this person has powers too, or can transform into another creature, in fact they're taking a while to make their way to me, but that's okay though I can wait.

I just hope I don't run out of patience in the meantime, because I'm not known for being patient, even when I was 8 or 9 years old, I was waiting at the doctor's, and started to fidget over the long wait time as I recall.

They're nearly here now, I get ready to take aim, and just as they turn the corner, I swing with all I have into the creep's shoulder.

With a smack it seems to land in an area I wasn't intending to hit him in, my aim was completely off, and this isn't the first time it's happened to me to be honest.

I guess my depth perception is off again I think to myself.

It appears to have landed right on his face surprisingly, and he cries out "Fuck! Ow, my nose! What the fuck was that?! Why would you do that, it hurts?!

I'm in shock for a little while, but I slowly come back to my senses while I watch this stranger groan in pain, and move his head around in an absurd fashion as he clutches his nose, which is bleeding profusely.

"Well....What do you honestly expect?!" I yell, "This is your fault for sneaking in here, and scaring me!' "Now tell me what you're doing here, and what you were planning on doing to me, huh?!"

"For fuck sakes woman, I wasn't planning on hurting you, I just wanted to help you geez!' 'Also my fault, seriously?!' He muffled, "You're the one who walloped me one in the face with gods knows what!"

"Oh really?' I arch my eyebrow at him, 'And why should I believe you, for all I know you're just like all the others who seem to wanna hurt me!' 'And FYI it was a plank of driftwood I hit you with."

"I get why you would have your doubts about that....no wonder it hurts, who the heck hits someone with a plank of wood?!' Listen, could I get a tissue or a health kit, I'm bleeding here!" He whines in a hoarse voice.

"Erm....dude I err....I hate to break this to you, but um....I don't have anything like that, so....err yeah.', I hesitate, 'Pretty sure some giant ducks have them, so I can't help even if I wanted to."

"Giant ducks?!' He muffles at me 'What the hell is a duck?!"

"Seriously?!' I utter with a look of shock, 'It's a bird bro!"

"I know it's a bird, it's just not the type of species I have heard of before!!' He shouted "Maybe they're just on your planet, and not on mine!"

"My planet?' I say, narrowing my eyes in suspicion, 'How do you know I'm not from your planet?"

"I overheard my dad on the phone talking about you, and he mentioned it then.", he sighed "I do wonder why he's so interested in you though, like what did you do to piss him off?"

"I don't know, because I just got here a few days ago, and unless you can transport yourself to other planets through your dreams I doubt that is likely at all." I say in a matter of fact tone.

"I think I need to lie down," he slurs before collapsing on the ground.

"Holy Crap guy?!" I stammer "Hey, hey guy, are you okay, hello?!

He groans to himself before mumbling, "No, I'm most definitely not alright, I think I need a doctor!"

"I don't know any doctors here though, or where the nearest clinic is!" I reply in a panic, "What do I do, oh god, what do I do?!

I slowly and cautiously approach his crumpled form, but he still hasn't moved since he collapsed, and he's barely conscious. I can tell he definitely needs to see a medical professional, and see that he's lost a lot of blood already.

At least he's not dead, I think to myself, I couldn't live with that on my conscience at all!

"Hey, stranger, erm I'm sorry I hit you so hard, but err you deserved it, because um you scared me when you came in here looking for me, so.... I stutter "Ahem, please don't die on me, I don't want to be a murderer."

"He groans "I'm not dead yet idiot!"

"Oh....okay, cool," I say hesitantly.

At least he's okay for now, but he really needs a hospital. How hard did I hit him? I think to myself I can't exactly drag him to one, he's too heavy and tall to do it.

As I look around I'm struck by something the boy had said about me possibly being here before. I vividly recall having dreamt about a world just like this.

If it is true what this boy said about his dad knowing who I am, then maybe I'm dreaming again, which means there's a possibility of me being able to heal him using magic.

I sit down next to him, reach out my hands to his face, and try to find that magic in me now. I reach down deeper, and find a spark right there, hidden like it was locked within myself the whole time.

I grasp it, pull it to the surface, through the murky depths of my inner life force, and thrust that essence into the palms of my hands.

Warmth and a brilliant golden glow envelops my hands, flowing outwardly over his face, slowly healing him from the outside. I'm overjoyed it's working while also shocked.
