About a day passed and Zayn finally awoke.
The first feeling he felt wasn't the cruel shivering blizzard of the outside cold neither was it the muddy clings of street debris but rather an unexpected cozy and plushie warmth of a blanket over his sticky and weary body.
Astonishment surrounded him as he instantly became confounded of where he wasn't.
The room he was in was well below his usual calibre and even more wretched than the standards in the mansion.
Obviously, he had been taken in by a commoner but bugging him though, was the thought of the reason his saviour might have done so.
As he meditated over such, two peeking pairs of eyes pierced through behind the nearly shut door, curious as to whether he had aroused.
"He is awake", one of them whispered to the other behind the dark.
Both stepped out of the shadowy passage and into the diminutive and messy room where Zayn had slept silently in.
His messiahs were a sturdy male dressed in an adventurers outfit and on his left was a lady average in height and awfully pretty for what Zayn assumed to be her age.
From Zayn's perspective, both appeared to be a couple and seemed to wear tentative looks over their faces.
"Are you okay?", the lady hesitantly asked, her tone immersed in worry.
Zayn with one stroke of a nod.
"Okay. Good", she replied, thankful for his wellbeing. "That was a nasty fall. It's great to know you are alright," she furthered.
"I hope you don't mind that we brought you in here? I was about to rain and we couldn't just leave you out there, so we put you in the only spare room we had. Sorry it's so messy. I–", she apologized, noting his puncturing silence, hoping to put him more at ease.
"No. It's no problem. I am grateful," he quickly stopped her before she could beseeched his unnecessary forgiveness any longer.
He had a clear understanding of the human behaviour and hence was an expert in discerning truths and facades.
Their intentions were genuine and pure and he could lucidly identify that.
"Excellent", she smiled. "You have this handsome gentle man to thank too. He carried you on his back all the way here", she shared the thanks pointing towards Felix, her husband.
"By the way, I am Mary and this is–", she severed, alarmed by the scent of burning food as she raced into the kitchen to attend to the meal.
"You sure you're okay", Felix questioned, noticing his depressed mood, a bit unconvinced by his earlier reply.
"We could talk over dinner if you'd like? Get to know each other better and see if there's any way we can help", he offered, lending a heart melting smile towards him, a feeling he hadn't been given enough of since he arrived into this world.
Zayn nodded, this time a bit more obediently and respectfully.
"Here's some clean clothes and shoes you can wear. Your old ones didn't look too great so we thought you'll need new ones", he informed, handing him folded pairs of woven fabric.
"Thanks", Zayn repiled, his gratitude reflecting vastly over his voice.
Felix smiled too, leaving the room in greater ecstasy. "Dinner's in five", he reminded in a jovial and casual manner.
Zayn wanted to but couldn't help but suppress his paranoia. Naturally, one will feel apprehensive and unsure of such a development and despite just evicted from his home he was supposed to be in utter blues.
But somehow, this brief conversation had seeded a sense of joy and hope within him.
He instantly felt at peace with the nature of this two person home.
Clinging on to this feeling, he remembered his promise, gritting his teeth in deep determination. "I will get stronger. Any way I can."
But for now, it was dinner time. The pleasant aroma that filled the air, reminded him that he never did have dinner back in the mansion and that he'd been starving since he arrived.
He quickly took the clothes, and made for a shower before joining them down for dinner.
As he walked over to the dinning table, he was welcome with cheerful smiles.
"I see you've changed already. They fit you perfectly", Felix complemented.
"Thanks."
"After dinner I'll see what I can do about your room", Mary offered.
"That's awfully kind but I've already cleaned it up myself."
The two stared in shock at not only the speed of work but how much gesture and responsibility he already shined.
He took a seat and dug into his meal.
His earlier dinner invite had gone terribly bad but this was veritable contrast to that, and knowing that, he was affirmed that he'd been truly blessed.
Over dinner he shared his story with his new family leaving out the reincarnation part of it. The dinner wasn't long but was one of the best encounters he might ever have.
Needing more rest, he excused himself and went into his room.
———
Back at the mansion guard scoured endlessly scoping over the mansion, into the yard and even into the city but none could find him.
Lord Blaze was furious while his wife, stood silently grateful. No doubt Xavier was displeased but he very well knew who was behind this treachery.
Max and Grace weren't spotted by guards even through out all their vigiurous search.
Lucky for them, Max had a trick of his sleeve and that was his ability.
He could make himself along with everything in contact with him invisible.
They remained in the prison yard as quiet as a mouse and waited till all the guards evacuated that area.
And unnoticed, they crept out the prison before they visualized relieved with proud accomplishment.
A voice announced from behind, throwing them in a frenzy of momentary panic.
It was just Xavier, staring suspiciously at the two.
"What were you doing in there?", he asked, quirking his brows with seemingly knowing boldness.
"Checking for clues", Max answered while Grace stuttered over her words.
Feeling tensed, Grace excused herself out of Xavier's presence leaving the older of the triplets together.
"Listen. I know what you did and you are not going to get away with it", Xavier threatened, nudging his fingers into Max's chest.
"Relax. Don't need to get worked up about silly clues", Max shrugged, trying to throw Xavier off as he made his exit.
Xavier knew his brother all to well and knew the extreme of his actions could take him.
He was sure Max was in on Zayn's escape but with no proof as reinforcement he held his peace and settled for the little he'd gained.
Suddenly, the abhorence for Max that had long maintained a minute scale, felt like it had bought it's own apartment, giving it more room to grow.
