Chapter 34 - Werewolf

Jugo woke up to find Kin sleeping beside his bed, her body in the chair and her head resting on the bed, her hand still holding his.

Jugo looked at the girl with dark circles under her eyes, but who was already asleep, probably from exhaustion, the damp cloth on her forehead, he was a little touched.

When was the last time someone cared for him when he was sick? He couldn't even remember.

But he didn't pay attention to that now, instead, he felt the potion inside him, completely digested, bringing a satisfied smile to his face.

The Lunatic's potion was never about killing, but about madness itself, killing was just a simpler act to achieve it.

The Temperance faction probably has its superiors helping the Lunatics operate without losing control.

With powers over binding, a demigod can prevent a lunatic from going beyond the point of madness at any time.

He doesn't have that.

But luckily, there's no way to lose control and become an aberration to him, so only someone strong enough to control him was needed.

Orochimaru was very helpful at this point.

Jugo felt his body and felt perfectly fine. He had incredible control over his body and he didn't think Orochimaru could silently leave something inside him, but he wasn't entirely sure.

Even so, even if there was something, he wouldn't be able to perceive it now, so he simply ignored it.

Instead, he chose to advance his sequence.

The next moment, that darkness overwhelmed him again. All those negative thoughts trapped him for a moment. He even thought he saw a giant blood moon and a series of wolf howls, but the next moment, he felt his strength increasing!

Jugo felt his Berserker ability fade. No, it was merging and creating something else. Finally, he could feel a new transformation. He could now transform into a werewolf!

The madness he'd felt channeled within him all along faded and with the enhanced binding, he felt he could completely control his body. Even with the Nature chakra constantly flowing into him, it no longer affected him.

As long as he didn't enter curse chakra mode, he wouldn't have any more control issues.

Along with the lunatic's curse fading, for the first time in days, Jugo felt mentally free.

Of course, it wasn't all good news, the Lunatic's curse was gone, but the werewolf's curse had arrived.

Now, at every full moon, Jugo will transform into a werewolf, losing some of his sanity and experiencing an extreme thirst for blood.

This "losing some of his sanity" is only partially due to his current bind, without it, he would go completely insane.

Thus, during a full moon, a Werewolf is much more difficult to control than a Lunatic.

Even so, his enhancement was also extreme, he could feel the raw power of his body, he could see a damn mosquito's wings flapping!

He felt like he could reach the other side of the room in a split second, his speed at least tripled, as did his strength, but the true enhancement of the Werewolf was his regeneration.

Jugo's regeneration was never low, but now it has likely reached Wolverine's level.

During his Werewolf transformation, his speed and strength would increase even further, making him a true nightmare to deal with.

Jugo raised his arm and followed his instincts. The next moment, his arm grew thick, black hair covering his entire arm like armor. His nails turned black and lengthened, making him even more sinister. The power of this arm can already cut through steel like butter, and he hadn't even activated his cursed form.

Taking a deep breath, he regressed his power until his arm returned to normal.

Jugo had two other abilities besides these.

The first is werewolf infection.

Essentially, he can create Werewolves on his own.

In the world of LotM, beyonders are based on a trait of the original creator and the containment of powers is purely based on these traits.

This means that even if someone doesn't have an beyonder trait, they can, for example, use an item created by an Artisan who only has spirituality, but this item will lose its spirituality over time because there's no way to "hold" it.

There, spirituality is like "water" and the trait is like a "Spring".

So when a Werewolf transforms someone into a Werewolf with this ability, what that person uses to sustain themselves is their own natural spirituality, something all living beings have. But the spirituality of an ordinary human is laughable, and without a trait to replenish or stabilize that spirituality, that human's days are numbered from the moment they become a Werewolf.

To put it more bluntly, created Werewolves are like short candles that, once lit, cannot be extinguished, so they can only burn endlessly until the wick runs out.

But this world is different.

Here, there is chakra, here humans can grow on their own and the power of the universe does not belong to a single being who divided itself.

Jugo realized long ago that the way his sequence uses energy is tied to chakra, so for him, Chakra = Spirituality.

This means that if he transforms ordinary humans, who only have small amounts of chakra, they will likely die from chakra exhaustion shortly. This is because once someone becomes a werewolf and has no control over it, they cannot return to being human.

But if he transforms a ninja who can produce large amounts of chakra and control their form, not only will they not lose chakra, but due to the enhancement caused by the transformation, their amount of chakra that can be produced and stored will increase!

The main point is that each werewolf will be completely loyal to him!

Jugo smiled happily at this, but not everything was rosy.

This is because the full moon curse also affects them, albeit to a lesser extent. Furthermore, if the target cannot control their form and return to being human, they will simply last longer before dying of exhaustion.

The biggest problem is the uncontrollable full moon. In the world of LotM, there were solutions for this in the form of sealed artifacts. In this world, he doesn't have that, but chakra is an energy full of miracles. Perhaps he can find a seal that can help them control themselves.

Jugo would also be tempted by such a seal, but the fact is that the curse will only affect him until Sequence 5. From Sequence 4 onward, he will be free, and it will be his turn to curse the others.

The Chained Sequence has two major powers, Curse and Binding.

Enduring the curses before advancing to Saint is a way to prepare the Beyonder for the authority of the Curse, resisting these curses is a way to prepare them for the authority of "Binding."

Even their mythical creature form upon reaching Sequence 4 is based on the form that you advanced to previously.

Jugo spent his Lunatic phase holding back most of the time and letting everything out at once. This will also be reflected in his mythical creature form when he advances in the future.

Perhaps this determines how strong his powers will be on each side. The more you yield to power, the stronger your curse power will be, but in exchange, you'll lose part of your humanity, because every time you yield, you become a little colder and more apathetic.

This is what Jugo felt before, while killing those Konoha ninjas. He felt himself becoming increasingly indifferent to death and driven to kill. Luckily, he noticed quickly and stopped.

On the other hand, the more you hold back, the stronger your binding power becomes.

The top of the path becomes "Chained", not "Cursed." Jugo still believes that having the Binding as the strongest is the best, even to endure the path of the abyss in the future.

The fact that the path of the Abyss is extremely violent and focused on corruption and malevolence, if he follows both paths in this way, won't he end up becoming a true demon?

Even if Jugo's end is to become a demon, in this case the Father of Devils, he doesn't wish to become a complete demon who will bring the Abyss to the world and rule over blood and ash.

No, Jugo isn't even interested in ruling! He just wants to survive this crazy world!

Besides, he hasn't even seen Boruto! He's only picked up a few pieces and doesn't know what shit will hit the fan at that point. Only by becoming the Father of Devils can he feel some semblance of security.

Anyway.

The Werewolf's ultimate ability is his only real attack ability.

He can concentrate darkness in his claws, creating ice that seeps deep into the target's body.

Besides causing a series of frost and corrosion damage, this instills uncontrollable fear in the target, making it difficult to think clearly or move rationally.

It's a very good ability, but again, only a direct combat ability, Jugo is still sorely lacking in mid- and long-range moves.
