Iris:
"Walkin, take the kids outside," Kash said as he lifted them from our laps. "Walkin, please help them."
Kash called out to Walkin, who was standing in the corner working on some files.
"Sure. Come on, kids. Let's go outside and play football," Walkin said, tucking the files under his arm.
My eyes moved to Zoe, and I noticed the way she was looking at Walkin with dreamy eyes.
I did not judge her. There was nothing in Marcus that invited tenderness.
As soon as my children went outside, Lara continued.
"Do you realize I could have died? I am pregnant. I need safety and protection," Lara continued after my children had left.
The moment she began complaining, guilt started to hit me.
Because of my mother, someone could have lost their life.
"I am really sorry. You were hurt too," I said to Lara, excusing myself while looking away.
