The update schedule for this story is probably going to be very inconsistent, sometimes relatively fast, and otherwise times maybe ridiculously slow. That entirely depends on how busy I am in real life.
In any case, I watched you sleep last night, enjoy the chapter.
____________
Reality has always been difficult.
After all, that's why we find an escape in the form of video games, to immerse ourselves in a fictional world of fun where all the stress of the real world doesn't exist. Minecraft is but merely one of such games.
However, it seems that even games are full of stress and difficulties, especially if adapted into real life.
"Oh fuck, that was close...!"
Looking at the arrow embedded into the wall of stone next to him, Zayden felt his eye twitch and unconsciously gulped a mouthful of saliva. From the looks of the current situation, he was inside of a rather dark underground narrow cave.
Although he wasn't sure how long he had been underground, it had certainly been over three hours at the very least. Whatever the amount of time, Zayden had managed to acquire himself quite a lot of equipment for himself.
Evident by his hotbar which had a full set of the necessary iron tools, along with the full set of iron armor that he now had equipped. Fortunately, the armor seemed to have automatically morphed itself into a suitable form after he equipped it.
He didn't possess the blocky characteristics as someone like Steve nor the Minecraftian's body dimensions, so wearing such a blocky set of armor was practically impossible.
Unlike the usual iron armor, the armor he wore had rounded edges and the helmet was that of a barbute. Despite being made entirely out of iron, the armor was designed in a way that seemed to completely allow him unrestricted movements.
Although the contrast to his blocky tools and the overall environment that was the Minecraft world was extreme, Zayden didn't really care about that. If that was the cost of comfortability and survival, then he'd pay that price any day.
"I honestly forgot how much of a sharpshooter the skeletons are, they certainly aren't stormtroopers..." Zayden sighed as he turned around and began making his way towards the torches he had placed not too long ago. "Can't even take their arrows."
In the game, arrows shot by skeletons couldn't be picked up.
The same was here too, and he certainly tried.
Zayden had attempted to pull that fucker out of the wall sometime back, and let's just say it didn't move a single inch. That thing was lodged into the wall with an iron grip, heck, even that was probably understating it.
Even in a real Minecraft world, its wacky laws still choose to bite his ass.
"I'm almost out of food..." As Zayden walked, he glanced down at his hotbar to see only a few pieces of cooked meat. "Mining so early wasn't the best decision, I really should've made use of the daytime more."
Unfortunately, it was too late for regrets.
"It's surely nighttime by now, I may as well head on up and just chill in the house." Zayden muttered to himself. "Staying down here is taking more of a toll on my mental state than I'd like."
Mining for hours while behind the screen was easy, but in real life, he realised how nauseating seeing constant stone in his face for minutes without end was. He had to take a good few minutes of rest every now and then, otherwise he might've gone insane.
Walking up to the entrance to the stairs he had dug out, Zayden looked up at the absurdly long looking staircase that led back up to the surface. Seeing the climb, Zayden's mouth twitched and a helpless look appeared on his face.
"However the fuck many meter jumps to get back up, I don't even wanna know... I definitely need to make a proper staircase at some point." Zayden shook his head with a defeated sigh. "Going up is probably going to be as bad as going down."
Taking a deep breath, Zayden calmed himself.
"Alright, let's get go-!"
Before he could finish his sentence, Zayden had to quickly jump back as a familiar sound echoed in his ears. As soon as he did, what was no doubt was an arrow, had flown past his face and quickly embedded itself into the wall a few blocks away.
Turning his head, Zayden narrowed his eyes as a skeleton was seen aiming its bow at him, ready to fire yet another arrow. Seeing this, Zayden quickly held his hand forwards as a large rectangular shield made of wood and iron appeared.
As the skeleton's arrow fired, it struck the shield before being deflected and embedding onto the floor. As soon as this happened, Zayden instantly returned the shield to his inventory before sprinting forwards.
Although the skeleton managed to fire yet another arrow, Zayden quickly dropped to the ground and slid, dodging the arrow before quickly getting back up to his feet. Having switched to his iron sword, he gave a swing towards the skeleton.
Like in the game, the skeleton's body flashed a shade of red for a moment, signifying that the mob had sustained damage.
Naturally, Zayden didn't stop and quickly performed two other swings, which effectively demolished the rest of the skeleton's health. The skeleton dropped to the ground before disappearing, leaving behind a hovering pixelated bone on the ground.
Looking at this, Zayden sighed. "Such a pain in the ass..."
____________
As expected, Zayden found himself climbing up those meter-tall steps for quite some time before he had managed to finally reach the surface. Looking up ahead, Zayden could see the entrance to his little cave just a few blocks up.
On his way up, he had considered making a staircase, but that would just take an unbelievable amount of time. He'd have to mine an extra block to prevent himself from constantly hitting his head, and who knows how long it'd take him to finish.
Therefore, the better alternative was to just get back up and the next time he went down, he'd break that extra block and then make stairs once he begins his journey back up this same tunnel again.
"Okay, just a bit more..." Zayden gave a big exhale of mental exhaustion before forcing himself to begin climbing again, and from estimation, he had at most ten or so blocks left. "Noted, real life Minecraft is a pain in the ass... huh?"
Zayden momentarily froze as a dinging sound suddenly rung in his ears, it only lasted for a second or two before fading away into nothingness. Blinking in confusion, Zayden then shifted his gaze towards a specific point in his vision.

Seeing that it was the notification for the mission, his confusion quickly vanished before a look of understanding appeared on his face.
"Since the mission is done, that means it's daytime now, huh?" Zayden muttered to himself. "Wait... how long was I down here in this pit?! Based on the sun before I came down, I must've been down here for over ten hours!"
This was based on his own subjective opinion that the end of the night is considered six in the morning when he usually saw the sun rising or fully risen, and if he was correct in his observation of the sun's position the previous day, he started mining at around four in the afternoon.
Of course, this was concluded when not putting into consideration how time worked in the game version of Minecraft.
"Ain't no fucking way..." Zayden quickly climbed up as quickly as he could, and when he reached the surface, he immediately glanced outside the gaps of the wooden door. "Holy shit, it's actually day time."
Although still relatively dark outside, the sun was quickly starting to light up the world outside. Another huge indicator of this, if the light wasn't obvious enough, were the few monsters he could see that were on fire.
"I guess that explains why my headache felt as if I was underground for a few hours... cause I fucking was."
With a shake of his head, Zayden decided to wait until it was fully morning and any monsters that could burn, did burn under the rays of the scorching sun. As much as he wanted to get some fresh hair, breaking some open windows wasn't the best idea.
Although there were indeed a number of restrictions due to Minecraft's strange laws, there was still a degree of freedom in his body movements. Unlike usual Minecraft, Zayden had learnt that he could freely perform things such as climbing, vaulting over blocks, and more.
No doubt monsters also had a certain degree of freedom in this regard, so he was not making windows unless he had some glass, that or made a fence, but the latter wasn't necessary, he'd just wait until morning.
As for the roof, he ain't having no potential monsters falling in.
Ain't no way.
In any case, in the mean time, he could inspect the rewards from the mission.
After focusing his gaze onto the mission, it automatically enlarged itself in response, giving him a much easier to focus on screen that hovered in front of him. Seeing the 'Claim' option next to each reward, he didn't hesitate to click on them both.
He regretted it immediately as a loud celebratory sound of fireworks exploded in his ears, making him flinch heavily, causing him to even smack his head against the side of the house. The message to confirm his completed mission appeared in the chat box, a chat box that he didn't even know that he had to begin with!
Although he didn't feel any physical pain, his self-esteem sure took a hit.
