As I looked around the rather small room… well, small for me, I looked down at the rather excited child in front of me.
He had golden hair with golden eyes to accompany them. He had pale skin and looked to be around 8 years old, but what caught my attention was his rather frail figure.
His clothes were all torn and dirty, and the smell—oh, the smell. Leaning down closer to the frail and excited child, I spoke with a calm demeanor so as not to frighten him.
"Hey, kid… where are your parents?" I asked the child.
His excited look was then quickly extinguished and was replaced by a rather solemn one. He opened his mouth to try and reply, but he never did.
I moved closer toward him and placed my hand on top of his head. "It's… alright. You don't have to say anything if you don't want to," I reassured the child.
His mood then slowly brightened up, and before long his excitement returned in full force. He grabbed my hand and began leading me out of the room and into a rather dirty yet spacious one. There wasn't much to see—only a couple of chairs and a table in the middle—but what really caught my attention was the rather obvious demon pinned to the wall.
The corpse was completely dried up, and what's more, I couldn't seem to recall what type of demon this was. I tried my best to remember what species they were, but I seemed to be coming up blank. What's more, the Sins and Dad haven't been creating new species as of late.
"Mr. Angel! Look here!" the excited child spoke, pulling me away from my thoughts.
Looking down, he was now holding a note that looked rather old. Grabbing it from him, I moved it closer to me and read it.
Seth, if you're reading this, then that means I have died and you are my new incarnation. I know you have a lot of questions right now, but we don't have time for that. Your life is in danger, and it would be best if you summon a guardian until you become strong enough to defend yourself against Cain. Try to look for my weapons and spells in the basement of this house, and once you find them, make sure you summon a guardian angel to defend you.
Again, you might be confused, but I promise you God has a plan. That's all for now. I've left notes all around the house to help guide you in our journey to finally kill our brother.
After reading the note, I looked up at the child, who was currently sitting down patiently for me to finish reading, and once I did, he spoke.
"Mr. Angel… will you help me? I don't really have anyone else, so I did what the note asked," the child, now Seth, asked me.
Placing the note down on the ground, I walked closer toward him and picked him up.
"Sure, kid. But first… you need to take a bath," I told Seth, to which he tilted his head in confusion.
After I had told Seth that he needed a bath, we left the rather desolate house since there was no working water inside. Once we had gotten out, I quickly found out we were within a rather secluded area.
The house that we were just in was nothing more than a broken-down shack that looked… tiny. It was weird—the inside was rather spacious, but when you looked at the outside, it was no bigger than an outhouse.
I had so many questions about how the previous Seth was able to do this, but for now I needed to give this Seth a bath.
Summoning my shadows, I ordered them to find a large body of water for Seth to bathe in, and after a few seconds they found a large lake that was relatively close to where we were standing.
Unfurling my wings, I readied myself, and holding on to Seth, I flew high into the sky and made my way toward the lake.
"Weee!!!" Seth said excitedly while we flew high into the sky, and after a few minutes of flying rather slowly in order not to harm the child, we finally made it, and I landed right next to the lake.
Placing the child down on the ground, I walked closer to the lake to inspect it for anything dangerous lurking within, and once I made sure there was nothing that could harm this child, I moved back to Seth and spoke.
"Seth." Once I spoke his name, his attention was quickly caught, and I continued. "We're going for a swim, so… take off your clothes."
He looked at me, confused for a few seconds before quickly understanding what I wanted him to do. He began removing his clothes, and after a few seconds he was down to his underwear.
Once he had finally removed his clothes, I gently grabbed his arm and led him toward the lake. As we got closer and closer to the water and I slowly entered it, I used a spell to store my clothes away inside my pocket dimension, leaving me completely naked.
As we got deeper into the water, I made sure Seth could easily get out of it if he was having trouble staying afloat.
"Mr. Angel! Look, I'm swimming!" he excitedly said, swimming around me with glee.
I chuckled at the child's antics before quickly grabbing a bar of soap from my pocket dimension to clean him up. Grabbing him by the foot, I moved him closer toward me, and once he was close enough, I began cleaning him up and removing all the gunk from his hair and body.
"Mr. Angel, that tickles!" Seth said, giggling as I scrubbed and cleaned him up.
This lasted for a few minutes before we were finally done, and Seth finally looked clean. I was rather proud of my work since I used to bathe with Charlie when we were younger, and she would always try her best to escape bath time.
But as I was about to leave the water with Seth, a branch suddenly snapped from behind us, and thinking quickly, I used a disguise spell on myself, seeing as humans can't find out that Heaven or Hell exists.
And after only a few seconds, a man and a woman appeared holding baskets full of food.
They looked around for a few seconds before their eyes quickly landed on me.
I waved at them and they... waved back... rather awkwardly I might add.
