After going through another sleepless nights, a new day came with Ethan still sharp awake.
At this point it was no longer a new thing for a Computer Programming student like him. Projects had caused him to stay up at night over the years, and it was already becoming normal.
Ethan couldn't take a moment to close his eyes, fearing that the very moment he did, those zombies could come at them.
He didn't want to risk it.
With a swift thought in his mind, he went straight to the system interface and clicked on the [Girlfriend] page.
[Girlfriends: None.]
"If I haven't gotten a girlfriend yet, doesn't that mean I saved Anna for nothing???" Ethan frowned as he asked.
[Good morning, host.]
[Before you start shitting your pants, I'm just going to make things understood to you.]
"Actually I wasn't gonna..."
[Shut up and listen...]
Ethan's face changed as he clenched his fist, but he couldn't move his lips again.
[Girls you save don't immediately become your girlfriends. They are required to reach a certain rate of Love or Loyalty before being added to the Girlfriend Counts.]
"Love and Loyalty? Umm, I don't understand," Ethan said.
[Shut up, I'm not done talking.]
Ethan gave a furious nod and listened.
[Girls who grow in Love towards you are likely to be the most affectionate when it comes to intimacy paths and romance.]
[Girls who grows in Loyalty towards you would be only respectful and obedient to your commands, and are likely to be the supporting figures to progress of the group. The higher the loyalty, the lesser the chance of betraying the group.]
[Note that both factors are affected by how they are met and their personal capabilities. You'd be a sorry dude when a potentially strong lady becomes too in love.]
"Umm, I still don't understand," Ethan rolled his eyes.
[You will.]
Ethan didn't complain, as at that point, his main interest was on where Anna stands.
Love or Loyalty?
At this point he wasn't even interested like he used to, but it wouldn't be bad if she finally becomes his girlfriend, right?
[Anna Voss]
[Love: 11%.]
[Loyalty: 50%.]
"Ah, shit!"
When the system finally showed him Anna's Girlfriend stats, his jaw dropped drastically.
It wasn't even close, and it already meant that there was a higher chance of her becoming a loyalty girlfriend than a loving girlfriend.
"Even with a system, I'm still getting cooked. Damn," Ethan cursed.
[Note that when Love or Loyalty is over 50%, the lady is then added to the Girlfriend Counts.]
This clearly means that Anna only needed one percent addition to her Loyalty before being added to the Girlfriend Counts as a loyalty girlfriend.
This was when Ethan's heart clenched the more, knowing that the was actually nothing he could do at this point.
It was inevitable at this point, and he would be lying if he said he was even a bit happy with it.
However, just when he was in frustration, he suddenly heard a faint sound from behind, turning to see Anna waking up.
She jolted in a rush, her eyes filled with unease and fear as if she had just woken up from a nightmare.
She was gasping roughly, which had only kept Ethan on an alarm, as he quickly rushed to her.
"What's the problem, Anna?"
Anna couldn't say a word for some moment, glancing around the room.
"You had a nightmare?" Ethan then asked.
It took her a moment before responding, as she shook her head.
"No... I... I have to find Gracie and Mella. Lance too... We... We were all at the party before it happened," Anna said in a panicking tone.
Ethan's face turned dark. There was no way he would let her do that.
"No you can't. I'm not letting you leave here. It's not safe out there anymore," Ethan said.
"You don't get it, Ethan. They'd probably need our help right now. Lance was holding my hand before the crowd scattered and his hands slipped. He must be looking for me right now. I can't just leave them out there."
Anna suddenly stood up.
Ethan was surprised how she hadn't said all these yesterday when he went to get her. But he figured she might have completely lost her mind due to fear.
After almost getting bit by a zombie, her whole day yesterday was completely dull.
It was understandable that she wanted to save her friends. Ethan would want to risk it, but for Lance...
Lance was her date for the party. He had asked her out and she was surely going to accept him before the chaos began.
'If we find that son of a bitch, he is not coming with us!' He said inwardly.
If there was any reason he was going out there today, it would be because of Gracie and Mella, and he would be lying if he said he liked them anyway.
"The only reason we are going out there is because of you," Ethan told her with a glare.
"Thank you, Ethan," Anna thanked, her voice still faint.
"Okay, let's head out."
Ethan grabbed the baseball bat and attempted to open the door when the system rang.
[Daily Intelligence Alert!]
[Day 003:
— A group of fifteen zombies would attack an hiding spot in the Computer Science Academic Building by 8:34 AM. All survivors there would be killed.
— A large herd of zombies would invade the Boys Dormitory Building by 10:20 PM. No rooms would be left untouched.
— 5% of the remaining survivors in the university would die. More due to starvation than getting bit by a zombie.
— More zombies would crowd the exit and entrance gates due to some parents trying to get in to find their kids. 55% of these people would get bitten and turn.
— Twenty zombies inside the campus would evolve in Level 2. Three zombies would evolve into Level 3.]
The Daily Intelligence finally showed up, and the first thing Ethan did was check the wristwatch.
(8:17 AM).
"Shit..."
It's only seventeen minutes left before the zombies would attack the hiding spot in the Computer Science building.
Ethan knew that he must not waste anymore time here because he was sure that some girls would be among those survivors.
He didn't want to lose his d*ck... Not without having a taste of what's between a woman's legs.
'I will die to save my dick!' He shouted inwardly.
Then he turned to Anna, holding the baseball bat tight.
"When we go out, stay closely. You must not make a sound because when you do, you would attract those things.
"Okay," Anna nodded with a nervous tone.
"Okay. Now let's go," Ethan said as he pulled the door open...
"Rarrrr...!"
Only to spot a zombie standing right in front of the door.
The zombie quickly threw itself at Ethan, and he lost his balance at once.
"AHH! System, you didn't tell me that a zombie is at the doorway!" Ethan shouted at the top of his lungs.
[Umm, system doesn't see a single Level 1 zombie as a threat. If it is to you, then damn.]
