Chapter 4 - Pinky

I didn't really deal with them much before getting metal either. I grew up on the streets so I didn't really have the opportunity to meet people like that.

The deadline sector is probably the worst district to be stuck in within the city of Kairox.

That was the exact place I almost died in, but 5th street is special in its own ways. Most people run there because the chances of two gangs colliding with one another is high.

I didn't want them to save me like they did but if they could've taken the heat it would've helped. Being able to avoid the fight, that might've made a difference.

Karma was the last gang I expected to show up there.

Knock! Knock!! The loud knocking on my door was a bit surprising but I guess someone was supposed to come and get me.

I walked over and opened up the door to see who was standing there. A man with obvious metal built throughout his body was in the doorway.

It seemed like he used a lot of it for muscle which was pretty common when people are in tight spaces. It also allowed for complete brute strength over any fight that wasn't involving guns.

He was a pretty big guy with short, spiky pink hair, green eyes, and seemed to be staring right at me.

"You the guy they saved?" He asked with a serious expression.

"Zero. I don't think I told them my name." I responded while looking up at him.

I put my hands in my pocket as I observed the bulky man standing before me.

"Pinky. That's my name. I'll be showing you around kid." He said before turning around.

Pinky? Who the hell would think that it's a good name to give someone. I probably shouldn't make it obvious that I thought about the name at all.

I started following behind him through the long hallways of the building, observing the surroundings around me. It didn't seem like anyone was really here or maybe they were just hiding.

"Everyone is in the meeting room. That's where we are going. There's a lot going on right now because of the fact that we saved your ass." Pinky spoke up with a calm tone.

How can he say something like that with such a calm tone to his voice? These people are really starting to confuse me but it is only temporary anyway.

"Whatever man. So what exactly is happening?" I asked with a bit of curiosity, disregarding his rude remark.

"You'll find out in the meeting." He answered bluntly.

It didn't take much longer till we reached the meeting room where a pretty big group of people were sitting. I could count at least 20-30 people in this room alone.

Most had metal, at least that's what I could see from here. I need to pay attention to who's the important ones in this room, besides the Reika chick.

There's bound to be a couple of other strong, leader like people.

I didn't really focus on the whispers around the room since I knew it would be like this, especially if I'm the root of the problem. I never asked for them to save my life personally.

As long as Renji made it out alive, that would've been enough for me.

"Take a seat." Pinky said with a calm tone.

"Already on it boss." I respond sarcastically.

I could see he wasn't really phased by the way I responded but it didn't matter. The meeting at hand was the important part here.

Another woman seemed to be standing by Reika at the front of the room. Her long, braided green hair, bright green eyes, and the weird clothes she had on caught my eye.

She seemed to be wearing some sort of long black coat that covered the top of her pants, and her hands were definitely metal.

"We've gathered today to discuss the latest issue at hand with Vantablade. We won't be dealing with them for too much longer. Tess has already made a deal with them so they'll screw off for awhile." Reika spoke loud enough for everyone to hear.

"Exactly what Reika said. I made a deal to give them some information and resources so they'd leave us alone. We don't have the time or people to waste on them right now." Tess chimed in with a serious tone.

I'm shocked they didn't just hand me over to the enemy to save their own asses but I guess that'd be a waste of resources. Giving me metal just to sell me off would be dumb.

At least by most standards in this city of ours.

"What's so important about what's going on right now anyway?" Someone asked with a confused tone.

"We are in the process of securing a mana port. It has taken a lot of planning and some backing from Lotus/9 to make this possible." Tess answers with ease.

Lotus/9? I don't think I'm familiar with that gang at all, but that would mean that they aren't known for a reason. Not to me at least. Maybe the rest of the people here will know who the hell this gang is since I sure as hell don't.

"Lotus/9, are you joking?!?! Those guys are psychopaths!" Someone shouted with anger in their voice.

"They are vital to securing this port or we won't get another chance to do this." Reika chimed in with a serious tone.

Mana ports are rare for anyone to find since usually a corporation has a hold on them or the government themselves is watching over it. Mana is still something new that we've been getting used to over the years.

It could be one of the biggest advancements if used properly but it's barely been touched by anyone. The most that was done with it, was the thrusters in some of the cars that you see flying around the city.

This does sound like a pretty big move here.
