Chapter 17: The Impending Extinction of Soul Beasts.

- Vertical Sun.

The morning light faded, its gentle glow filtering through the curtains and slowly spreading across the room. Everything was peaceful.

Jiang Xiu concluded his meditation and slowly opened his purple eyes. A glimmer of golden light shone within them, a truly mystical presence.

"Master's Ontology Meditation is truly effective. In two and a half weeks at most, I'll be able to break through to level fourteen."

Feeling the surge of soul power within him, Jiang Xiu thought energetically. After returning from the Abyssal Plane yesterday, his master, Muye, had taught him the Ontology Sect's unique meditation method, and he had adopted it in lieu of sleep.

Compared to ordinary meditation methods, Ontology's was clearly more efficient. After all, it was the foundation of a sect, much like the Tang Sect's Xuantian Gong.

"But we also need to quickly establish a legion leader in the Abyss, otherwise we'll waste too much time,"

Jiang Xiu thought as he rose from his bed and stretched his muscles.

He now spends his days in the Douluo Plane and his nights in meditation. While he's away from the Abyss, his Shadow Army will undoubtedly remain underdeveloped, and he can't manage three tasks simultaneously.

Therefore, having a wise leader is essential. This way, even while he's cultivating in the Douluo Plane, his Shadow Army can continue to grow.

After all, the Shadow Army doesn't need rest; he can exploit it relentlessly... becoming the first person to exploit the Abyss.

"Bang, bang, bang!"

A crisp knock echoed from the door, followed by Muye's voice.

"Xiao Xiu, hurry up and get up and wash up. We have to go to the Spirit Ascension Platform this morning. Tower Master Leng has sent someone to remind us."

"Master, I'll be there soon,"

Jiang Xiu shouted. He washed up, retrieved clothes from his soul device, and changed into a white suit embroidered with cranes.

The soul device and the clothes inside were purchased by Muye for him yesterday, along with the meditation technique. After all, Jiang Xiu's entire fortune had been destroyed in the Abyssal Tide, and he still hadn't gotten a replacement for his Federation card.

"Hmm, not bad. Very energetic, not disgraceful."

Looking at himself in the mirror, Jiang Xiu nodded in satisfaction. His handsome face, dressed in a formal suit, gave him the air of a high-spirited young man.

After finishing his meal, Jiang Xiu, accompanied by Xiao Ling, headed to the Spirit Pagoda for dinner. The Pagoda had already provided them with a sumptuous breakfast, each item costing a considerable sum.

"Tsk, that earth dragon tendon isn't authentic. It's overcooked, what a waste of ingredients."

"Hmm, that purple jade shrimp is quite good. Disciple, eat more. It's packed with Qi and blood."

Muye commented as he sampled the food, transforming into a seasoned chef.

"Hey! Disciple, you have to drink this purple ginseng porridge while you're at it. That way it's more flavorful."

"Alright, the deputy tower master is already waiting for us at the Spirit Ascension Platform."

Han Tianyi, watching from the side, glared at Muye. His nephew was good in every way except his lifelong obsession with cooking and mechas.

The three of them quickly finished breakfast and, led by Han Tianyi, headed to the Soul Ascension Platform at the Soul Pagoda's headquarters.

As they passed through the Pagoda's main hall, Jiang Xiu noticed a large mural on the surrounding wall depicting two figures, a man and a woman. These two figures were none other than Huo Yuhao, the founder of the Soul Pagoda, and his wife, Tang Wutong.

"The original purpose of the Soul Pagoda was to reduce conflict between soul beasts and humans. Hmm... it's achieved that to some extent,"

Jiang Xiu thought to himself, his eyes flickering.

After all, the soul beasts are nearly extinct, so conflict is naturally reduced. It makes sense.

He wondered what Huo Yuhao would think of the current state of the soul beasts.

Crossing the hall and entering the elevator, Han Tianyi produced a black-gold card and gently tapped it against the sensor area. The elevator automatically descended. When it opened again, Jiang Xiu found themselves in a circular metal room.

Inside, the room was still entirely metal, and a circle of massive soul-guiding screens hung on the walls, flashing various images. It looked like a world of green, like a jungle.

"Master Leng, I'm sorry to have kept you waiting,"

Muye said, waving to Leng Yaozhu, who was already waiting.

"Is that so?"

Jiang Xiu, seeing Na'er beside Leng Yaozhu, thought thoughtfully. His thoughts last night were correct; Leng Yaozhu must have other ideas.

"We've just arrived, too. Na'er just absorbed souls yesterday and needs to increase the age of her soul rings. How about having her and Xiaoxiu enter the Soul Ascension Platform together?"

Leng Yaozhu's red lips curled slightly, a smile lingering in her phoenix eyes as she addressed Muye, her gaze inadvertently glancing at Jiang Xiu.

"No problem. This way, you two can look after each other. After all, this is both your first time entering the Soul Ascension Platform."

Muye didn't think it was inappropriate and readily agreed. Besides, they were now using the Soul Ascension Platform and the Soul Transmission Tower. A direct refusal would be too rude.

Na'er looked at Jiang Xiu with a hint of surprise in her beautiful eyes. She felt that after that night, Jiang Xiu had acquired an inexplicable aura.

"Okay, let's begin."

Leng Yao Zhu Su waved her hand slightly, and the metal wall cracked. Two silver-white metal cabinets slowly slid out and stopped in front of Na'er and Jiang Xiu.

Jiang Xiu and Na'er stepped inside and lay down according to the instructions. Then, suction cups emerged from the surrounding area and quickly attached themselves to different parts of their bodies, fitting seamlessly.

Last night, Muye had also explained to Jiang Xiu the various precautions regarding the Soul Ascension Platform.

The Soul Ascension Platform is a semi-virtual, semi-real world painstakingly constructed by the Soul Transmission Tower. It houses countless spirit beasts, allowing human spirit masters to absorb and practice with them.

Furthermore, these spirit beasts aren't truly spirit beasts, but rather composed entirely of energy. After a spirit master slays them, they transform into pure energy, increasing the age of their spirit rings.

Jiang Xiu and Na'er are both first-ring spirit masters, so they entered the primary Soul Ascension Platform. This platform is suitable for spirit masters below the Soul Sect level, and contains mostly spirit beasts aged ten or hundred years, with the occasional thousand-year-old spirit beast appearing.

"Remember, if you encounter danger, immediately press the distress signal on your arm."

As Leng Yaozhu's voice echoed, the hatch above Jiang Xiu and Na'er's heads slowly closed, retracting into the metal wall, and the surroundings instantly plunged into darkness.

Once the two entered the metal wall, Leng Yaozhu and Na'er were the only ones left in the large circular metal room.

"Your Majesty, Xiao Xiu's spirit should be more than just his own. I wonder if his other spirit is the Sun, the Silver Moon, or the nearly extinct Purple Brilliant Heaven-Destroying Dragon?"

Seeing Jiang Xiu and Na'er successfully enter the Soul Ascension Platform, Leng Yaozhu turned her head, looked at Muye, and asked softly, hintingly.

"Hmm? What do you mean, Tower Master Leng?"

Muye's eyes narrowed as he asked calmly. He wasn't surprised that Leng Yaozhu had discovered Jiang Xiu's identity.

"Don't worry, this Tower Master means no harm. I simply suspected that Xiao Xiu, as a descendant of the Sun and Moon royal family from ten thousand years ago, would inherit one of the three great martial spirits. It seems my guess was correct."

Leng Yaozhu's red lips curled up in a faint smile.

"I believe Your Majesty is also aware of the royal transformation that took place ten thousand years ago."

"Of course, after all, that incident is closely related to Ling Bing Douluo, the founder of your Spirit Transmission Tower."

Muye glanced at his uncle-in-law beside him, then nodded slightly.
