Chapter 31 - Part 33 – Will I Make It… or Not?

Part 33 – Will I Make It… or Not?

"Ahh… ugh…"I forced my eyes open.It was already evening.

I tried to push myself up from the ground—"Ah!"I collapsed back down.

Damn it… my whole body was screaming in pain because of that damned rat.

Rat…Oh gods, the rat!

With difficulty, using my hand as support, I lifted myself a little and looked around, trying to find it.

And finally—I found it.

Another wolf‑rat was eating the remains of the one I had killed.

"Oh god…"They didn't even spare their own kind. What would they do to me?

I had to get out of there. Fast.If it noticed me, I'd end up just like that corpse.

I had to move silently. But where could I even go?

I looked at my body—covered in cuts, bruises, burns. There was no way I could stand up and run.

So I started dragging myself across the ground, inch by inch.I took off my shirt—well, what was left of it—so it wouldn't get caught on anything.

Rustle.

The sound of my movement made the wolf‑rat's ears twitch. It looked around.

I quickly hid behind a tree.

After a moment, it went back to eating.I exhaled quietly.

I continued crawling, praying it wouldn't smell the blood from my wounds.

Then—A sharp stone scraped my bare shoulder.

"Ah—!"I swallowed the scream in my throat. If I made a sound, I was dead.

I kept moving. Why the hell did I take off my shirt? Now every tiny rock stabbed into my skin and I couldn't even cry out.

The pain was unbearable, but I pushed forward.

Then…The smell of my blood must have attracted insects. They swarmed toward me.

Ribbit… ribbit…

"Damn it…"A three‑eyed frog crawled out of the swamp, eating the insects—And of course, its croaking echoed through the forest.

The wolf‑rat heard it.It had just finished the corpse and was still starving. Its ears twitched again, and it moved toward the sound.

"Oh god…"

I tried to shoo the frog away, but it kept coming toward me.I slapped it aside and quickly hid behind a bush.

The wolf‑rat kept searching for the source of the noise. And just my luck—The trail of my blood was smeared across the ground, leading straight to me.

It sniffed the air, following the scent. It reached the bush.It was looking for me.

"Damn it…"I tried to stay completely still, not even breathing loudly.

And then—

WHOOSH!

The wolf‑rat lunged at me, throwing me several meters away.

"Ahh! Damn—!"

"Damn you, rat! Damn the author who created this stupid world with these stupid creatures! All he knows is giving Harry more girlfriends!"

The wolf‑rat foamed at the mouth, the smell of my blood driving it insane. It was ready to finish me.

I was frozen, unable to react.

It slowly approached, confident I couldn't escape.Step by step…No rush.It knew I was done.

Then it suddenly leapt. It had lost its patience.

"Ahh—!"

It clawed at my body. Its jaws went for my neck—I barely managed to raise my arm to block it.

"Ahh!"

It bit down on my arm, harder and harder, until it finally released and prepared to strike again—

WHOOSH!

I hit it with a Death Marsh blast. The impact sent it flying several meters, crashing into a tree.

But even then—It stood back up.And it came toward me again.

My vision blurred. My eyelids grew heavy.

I was ready for it.Ready for my second death.
