Chapter 184 - Chapter 183: You-Know-Who

Outside the battlefield where the Suicide Squad fought the alien xenomorphs, a pair of enormous eyes watched them from the void.

Those were Dane's eyes.

In the dream, he possessed almost god-like authority.

He watched these "little people" fighting, reached his hand into the battlefield, and with a pinch between his index finger and thumb, he seized "Peacemaker's" head.

Meanwhile, in the underwater battle, Killer Frost and Katana huddled together nervously.

Because of the ink "Peacemaker" had spewed, they couldn't see anything, and even with strong lights, visibility was extremely poor.

So they could only try to stand back-to-back, guarding against sudden attacks from "Peacemaker" and the monster.

But they didn't see that immediately after "Peacemaker" spewed the ink, he was snatched by a large hand into another dimension.

"Peacemaker" was startled, his face full of tentacles retracting, re-forming into the face of Smith.

He looked up, only to see a pair of enormous eyes glowing with an eerie blue light staring at him.

He fell to the ground in fright, but then realized the "ground" felt strange. He looked around and discovered he was in the palm of a giant hand.

"Peacemaker's" brain went into overdrive. Were the memories in Peacemaker's brain real?

Had he truly received "God's" revelation?

The "parasite" hidden within Peacemaker's body trembled.

"Interesting."

The owner of the eyes let out a sigh, a voice that seemed to come from the heavens, thundering like a clap of thunder.

Dane reached out again, extracting two souls from "Peacemaker's" body: one was the original owner of this body, the true Peacemaker.

The other was a formless, liquid-like alien "parasite."

His eyes could see through Peacemaker's body, into his cells.

With just a glance, he calculated that the "parasite's" true mass was less than ten grams.

However, its utilization rate of the body was extremely high; it could be said that solely by its super-high utilization rate of its host's body, they could easily achieve Captain America's combat power level.

If the host were an animal, perhaps their killing ability would be even stronger.

However, most "parasites" only choose to parasitize intelligent creatures.

The reason is that "parasites" can only use the host's brain to think; they themselves do not possess complex thought processes for extended periods.

So, if they remain attached to an ordinary animal for too long, their thought patterns will gradually approach those of lower animals, eventually degenerating into true wild animals.

In most cases, "parasites" choose to maintain the body shape and appearance of a higher intelligent life form, as this is the most stable form of intelligent life existing in nature, requiring minimal modification from them.

Like the Great White Shark in the Water and the already deformed Orca, to ensure they wouldn't be assimilated into true marine animals, they had to act quickly.

So, they actually couldn't afford to drag things out.

And just as Dane was holding and studying the "parasite's" soul, its companion, a "parasite" that had transformed into a sea beast, suddenly realized it had lost contact with its fellow.

It was possessing an Orca and could locate things by emitting ultrasound.

So, the black ink "Peacemaker" had sprayed earlier had no effect on it at all.

But now, it couldn't find the location of its other kin.

Did those two humans do something?

This "parasite" felt a desire to retreat. Its time was almost up; if it didn't find a new body soon, it felt its intelligence would begin to degenerate.

So it hesitated for three seconds, deciding on a strategic retreat, to reunite with its other kin before dealing with these two humans.

Anyway, without transportation, they couldn't get far.

Decision made, it immediately turned and retreated.

But before it could swim far, an invisible large hand scooped it up, and another "parasite" disappeared from this sea area.

Killer Frost and Katana waited back-to-back for a long time, but no one came to ambush them, leaving them very puzzled.

Killer Frost was braver by nature. Seeing that the enemy didn't come for a long time, she simply decided to take the initiative.

"Since they won't come, we'll go out and kill them!"

This was exactly what Katana wanted; the way of the sword demanded courage and advancement!

So, with a fearless attitude, they rushed out of the murky water and found nothing outside, except for the omnipresent marine life.

"What the hell?"

I can understand being stood up for a date, but for a life-and-death struggle?

But the submersible that "Peacemaker" used was still there!

"What do you think is going on?"

Killer Frost was a bit confused, and Katana was equally so.

"No matter what, let's get back to the submarine first!"

Killer Frost made a decisive decision.

Katana then asked, "What if the people in the submarine are with them?"

"Then we'll kill them all!" Killer Frost said, radiating killing intent.

Katana tightened her grip on "soul taker" and nodded heavily.

The two of them boarded the submersible that Peacemaker had used earlier and returned along the original route. Fortunately, the submarine was still there.

This made them breathe a sigh of relief. This mission today was too bizarre, making them very nervous, fearing that even the submarine had run away.

However, the submarine still being there meant there was a certain possibility that those previous enemies were also on this submarine.

So Killer Frost and Katana discussed it and decided it would be better to sneak in quietly.

They piloted the submersible close to the submarine. Killer Frost used her ice beam to freeze a cylindrical ice pillar between the two vessels, connecting them.

Katana used her indestructible "soul taker" to carve a passage through the ice pillar.

At extremely low temperatures, steel becomes brittle, and "soul taker" easily carved a small hole large enough for two people to pass through.

They quietly infiltrated the submarine through this passage.

As soon as they landed inside the submarine, the two felt something was wrong. It was too quiet, so quiet it seemed deserted.

And they soon discovered this was no illusion; the submarine was indeed empty.

Just as they had imagined, there was no one at all!

A deep fear gripped both their hearts. In this enclosed space of the deep sea, what could make everyone on the entire submarine disappear without a trace?

They had known before they set off that, apart from their X-Squad, this submarine had no spare submersibles prepared for anyone else.

Killer Frost forced herself to be strong: "Let's go to the control room and see if we can start this submarine and get out of here."

Their submersible was usable, but its power was insufficient to leave this vast ocean.

They had originally hoped to use the people on the submarine to escape this cursed place, but they hadn't expected there to be not a single soul on board.

Could the two of them alone operate this submarine? They felt uneasy.

They quickly found the control room. Pushing open the door, they saw a control panel they couldn't understand at all.

Killer Frost and Katana stared at each other, wide-eyed.

Katana couldn't help but ask, "Do you know how to operate a submarine?"

Killer Frost didn't speak, just rolled her eyes at her.

Before she became Killer Frost, she was just a researcher, not a navy officer, so how could she know how to operate a submarine?

Now the two were in a bind; the escape opportunity was right in front of them, but they had no idea how to use it.

Killer Frost hesitated, then thought of another solution.

"How about we fully charge the submersible and then, after returning to the surface, use these wetsuits to swim back..."

Katana didn't speak, and Killer Frost also knew this plan wasn't reliable.

They were currently in Bermuda, and the biggest problem was the difficulty in pinpointing their exact location.

Food and rest were relatively easy to solve; they could eat sashimi and sleep on the inflatable boat if necessary.

But being unable to get out was a problem the two of them couldn't solve.

Just as the two were at a loss, Katana suddenly felt an imperceptible change in the surrounding air.

She silently drew "soul taker."

She gestured to Killer Frost with her eyes, and the other quickly reacted, following her footsteps forward.

When they reached the end of the control room, in the captain's position, they saw a figure from behind, an extremely tall figure.

They had never seen this figure before. Killer Frost and Katana approached even more cautiously, preparing to take down the person.

Just as Katana was about to place her blade at the person's neck, and Killer Frost was about to fire her ice beam, they suddenly realized the figure had vanished.

It was as if the Real World had suddenly skipped a frame; the person disappeared without any warning.

"Are you looking for me?"

The voice came from behind them. They both turned simultaneously. Katana swung her blade, and Killer Frost fired her ice beam.

But after a dizzying spin, they found themselves back at the initial entry point.

Killer Frost glanced at the timestamp displayed on her HUD and exchanged a horrified look with Katana.

Time had rewinded three seconds!
