Chapter 192 - Chapter 191: Individual Missions

Nereus, with ulterior motives, spoke up. He was a defeated opponent, yes, but that didn't mean he had no right to speak.

"Arthur, Atlanna is right. You have more important matters to stay and handle."

Arthur was puzzled: "What matters?"

Nereus reminded him: "Don't you still need to assist Atlanna in connecting with the other kingdoms? The people of the Fisherman Kingdom and the Brine Kingdom don't know about this yet!"

His words enlightened Atlanna, and she immediately said to Arthur: "That's right! The matter of dealing with alien species concerns not only the Surface but also the Undersea people, as you said!"

"Then, as the King of Atlantis, you also have the obligation to personally inform the Kings of the other kingdoms about this. Isn't this what you want to do?"

"You can play a greater role here!"

Arthur looked a bit troubled: "Can't you go, like before?"

He was referring to Atlanna. He really wasn't familiar with those Kings or anything, and he didn't understand diplomacy!

Although it was strange for Nereus to bring up such a matter, for the sake of his own little plan, he still spoke.

"Arthur, aren't you afraid of something like... today's events happening again?"

Arthur's expression changed upon hearing this, but then he looked at Nereus with a strange expression.

It sounded so odd coming from his mouth, and he believed he wasn't the only one who thought so.

The others also looked at him with very strange expressions; his sudden realization seemed a bit overdone.

However, what he said still made sense, especially regarding the Brine Kingdom. Their King and their citizens were as stubborn and difficult as ever.

They would probably be even harder to communicate with than Nereus.

This put Arthur in a dilemma.

In the end, Dane made the decision for him, "They're right, you should stay. This country still needs you."

"Then you..."

Dane saw his hesitant demeanor and was about to say he could go back alone without a problem, but Nereus spoke first.

"As for My Lord, Mera can accompany him."

"?" A question mark appeared above Mera's head.

Atlanna and Vulko immediately understood what scheme he was up to.

That old fox! Both cursed in their minds.

Arthur didn't understand what this meant: "She goes?"

What could she do?

It was a good thing he didn't say that out loud, or Mera would have shown him what Water magic was.

"Mera will go as an envoy. Didn't you say you wanted to connect the Undersea and Surface and let us coexist peacefully with Surface humans?" Nereus said expressionlessly.

"Then I need to see clearly whether they are truly worth it. Mera will be Xebel's eyes and help me understand the true nature of the Surface people."

Hmm, the reason was quite valid; no flaws could be found. Yet, Atlanna and Vulko inexplicably felt that Nereus had ulterior motives.

However, Mera, after hearing it, found no issue. She indeed needed to understand more about the Surface World, so she agreed to Nereus's arrangement without objection.

Since the person involved agreed, others had even less reason to object.

So Atlanna and Vulko also remained silent, but in her heart, she thought that this student probably couldn't be her daughter-in-law anymore.

Dane, however, didn't think much of it. If Mera was willing to come along, then so be it.

He squeezed his hand, and the power of the dream stone instantly surged into his palm from all directions, then was put back into the dream stone by him.

At the same time, Cortana was also retrieved back into his wristband.

"Are you ready?" he asked Mera.

For some reason, this sentence reminded her of their first meeting. She nodded, her face slightly flushed.

Dane clapped his hands, and the two instantly arrived at the Hall of Justice.

This nearly made his eyes pop out.

"Honey"

Coming towards him was the little crazy Harley. In front of everyone, she completely disregarded any sense of decorum and directly crashed into his embrace.

Dane instinctively caught her, looked at Mera, who was equally bewildered beside him, and Poison Ivy, who was winking at him in front, and most importantly, Diana, who stood in the middle of everyone with her arms crossed.

How was he going to win this uphill battle?

...Checkmate.

Harcourt, returning from Metropolis, went straight to the archives upon arriving at the Base. Her authority was just enough to access files related to the Justice Society.

In these files, the most frequent information was about Hawkman Carter, but Harcourt discovered something different within it.

She compared and analyzed Hawkman's whereabouts over the years and found that Carter Hall often went out alone.

But it wasn't to act as a hero; instead, it was to a very strange place, where there was a lonely old White tower.

Harcourt's sixth sense told her that this place likely held the answers she sought.

So, without a second thought, she set off again, heading to that place alone.

Someone saw her, but no one dared to ask, in case she was on a classified mission.

Just as Harcourt began to act because of Katana's words, Katana was also in motion.

She received a revelation from "My Lord," instructing her to infiltrate The Pentagon and specifically investigate an Admiral.

Katana chose to comply without hesitation, entering Arlington overnight.

This Base, built in the 1940s, could not stop Katana's intrusion at all.

Under the blessing of the God of Death's power, she could pass through any reinforced concrete wall like a Shadow.

"My Lord" was connected to her mind, having imprinted the Admiral's appearance in her mind, and also transmitted the location of his office to her brain.

What Katana didn't know was that the person guiding her at the moment was not Dane; he was currently busy putting out the Fire that had started in his backyard.

The one truly guiding her was Cortana. She was using Dane's magic to communicate telepathically with Katana.

Soon, guided by the "God" in her mind, Katana found the Admiral's office. She quietly pushed the door open.

The moment she stepped inside, she sensed danger approaching.

Katana retreated, and a gunshot erupted. A bullet grazed past Katana's nose.

An ambush!

Katana instantly drew her sword, swinging it at supersonic speed, cutting through the incoming bullet and neatly slicing it in half.

Sword splitting a bullet!

She continued her movements without pause. With every swing of her sword, the sound of colliding steel could be heard, yet not a single bullet managed to hit her body.

After a long while, the gunshots ceased.

The bullets were spent. Katana looked up at the shooter, who was her target, the Admiral.

"Who are you?"

He remained in his gun-wielding posture, his face composed and calm.

He knew that the gunshots would soon attract guards to deal with this woman in front of him.

"Are you the initiator of Operation: Vengeance?"

Katana's softly spoken words exploded in his ears like a clap of thunder.

The first plan to exterminate Atlantis was codenamed "Vengeance."

The Admiral rose to flee, but Katana's speed was far greater than his!

"You won't get away!"

Katana crouched down, her feet shattering the solid wood floor, and instantly appeared before the General. Her blade swept horizontally across his body.

Blood droplets splattered, and he stumbled a few steps, yet he did not fall!

Katana watched his wounds close at a visible rate, then he raised his head, revealing a ferocious smile.

"This isn't a good idea."

With that, the Admiral swung his hand down, and Katana pulled back, five Talons slicing through the ground, incredibly sharp.

"You are indeed inhuman!"

My Lord's revelation was not wrong; these aliens had indeed infiltrated the Military and government agencies. The Military was no longer trustworthy.

"Damn crawling insect!"

The Admiral roared, his muscles bulging. In a short while, he became a two-meter-tall giant, with sharp blades protruding from his large hands. His five fingers no longer looked human.

He seemed to want to have a fierce battle with Katana, but Katana's mouth, hidden behind her mask, curved slightly, and she turned and ran towards the window.

She crashed through the glass, leaping directly out of the room.

The "parasite" brain left in the room short-circuited for a moment. What kind of move was this?

But he soon found out.

As he had just said, the sound of his gunshot would attract the guards, and at that very moment, the guards arrived just as he finished transforming.

"What. The. Fuck..."

All the guards simultaneously opened fire, aiming their guns at the monster.
