Chapter 191 - Peter's Bizarre Adventure

Karn's poor communication skills made Peter a bit annoyed. He couldn't understand why Gwen was so important, so he asked, "What do you mean by that? Why is she more important? Don't you treat all Spider-Men as food?"

Karn calmly looked at the two and then said, "Hunting Spider-Man is just the overt action. My family is actually looking for three sacrifices: the Scion, the Other, and the Bride."

"The Bride? I've just reached the legal age for marriage, why would I need to get married?" Gwen asked, utterly confused.

Peter carefully recalled the child who had been taken away, then said to Gwen, "The three things he mentioned should have some specific symbolic meaning. If the child who was taken away was the youngest Spider-powered individual, then you, Gwen, must represent something too."

"The spider that bit me and the one that bit you were the same. Could that be where the problem lies?" Gwen recalled the day she gained her powers.

Due to the overlap in origin, Gwen replaced the 'Silk' from the original timeline to become the 'Bride' among the three sacrifices.

At this moment, Karn poked the ground with the end of his double trident and then said, "The second fated person to be bitten is the Bride. All information about the three sacrifices is with the Weaver. If you want to know everything, you'll have to ask him."

Upon hearing this, Peter and Gwen exchanged glances. They knew they couldn't use communication devices to tell Eller now, because the Inheritors Family could eavesdrop on them using the Web of Destiny.

Before long, a bold idea simultaneously appeared in both their minds. They both nodded towards Karn, then said in unison, "We are willing to go with you to find the Inheritors Family."

This action was tantamount to delivering the Bride into the hands of the Inheritors Family, allowing them to obtain the second sacrifice.

But in the current situation, Peter and Gwen could only take a risk with the attitude of 'nothing ventured, nothing gained'.

Whether it was locating the Universe where the Inheritors Family resided, or gathering intelligence, they needed to add a glimmer of hope for victory.

Looking at the now very cooperative Peter and Gwen, Karn plunged his double trident into the ground, then came before them and said, "Thank you for your cooperation."

After speaking, Karn knocked the two unconscious and, after binding them with a special method, prepared to disregard his previous punishment, using the return of the 'Bride' as an opportunity to return to 001 Earth.

...

Soon after, on 001 Earth, within the Inheritors Family's manor, the eldest daughter Verna noticed someone was teleporting over.

"Who could it be at this time?" When she clearly saw who it was, Verna frowned slightly and said with disdain, "Karn, why are you back? Weren't you undergoing Father's punishment?"

"The punishment is over. I've hunted enough totems."

Facing his family members who still detested him, Karn had long been able to maintain a calm state of mind. He put Gwen down from his back and then said, "And I brought back a crucial sacrifice."

"She is the Bride?" Verna smelled the aura on Gwen, recognizing her as the sacrifice the family needed.

Although Verna still disliked Karn, she was willing to temporarily set aside her aversion given the Bride's importance, and the Inheritors Family now had a new spokesperson.

"Yes, Verna," Karn replied, "I found the Bride."

"Then you did very well, but you still need to see the new patriarch. Only he can approve your return," Verna said.

New patriarch? Karn didn't need to think much to guess what had happened.

"Brother Morlun became the new patriarch?"

"Yes," Verna nodded, "Father is also dead. You must not mention Father in front of him."

"I understand."

Verna noticed Karn was still carrying a Spider-powered individual on his back, so she asked, "Why do you still have a totem on your back?"

"This fellow caused me a lot of trouble. I want to torture him slowly," Karn said emotionlessly.

This display greatly satisfied Verna, who thought that her weakest brother had finally learned to be cruel. A slight smile appeared on her face, and then she said to Karn, "I'll take you to settle the prey first, and then I'll take you to Brother Morlun."

"Good."

Under Verna's guidance, Karn placed Peter in a cell. He even put some small torture tools inside the cell for Peter to use for escape after waking up.

Under Verna's guidance, Karn brought Gwen before Morlun.

Verna leaned forward slightly while lifting her skirt a little to the sides, performing a curtsy to the current patriarch of the Inheritors Family.

"Brother, Karn brought the Bride back."

Morlun stood beneath the Web of Destiny, golden light spilling onto his face. Upon hearing this, he turned around, first looking at his sister, then at his most disliked brother.

"It seems you still have some use, Karn," Morlun said mockingly.

As someone who had seen the complete prophecy and knew that Karn would eventually go down a path opposite to the family, Morlun would not trust this brother, and his attitude was naturally not good.

But now, it seemed this foolish brother still had some use.

Karn, pretending to know nothing, asked Morlun, "So, can I go home?"

For some reason, Karn found Morlun very strange. His brother somehow had two auras on him, and the other aura was like their father?

"Home?" Morlun chuckled mockingly, then walked down the steps and said to Karn, "You brought back the most important thing for the family, so of course you can redeem yourself, my dear good brother. Come, let me show you the new changes the family has undergone over the years."

Morlun's enthusiasm made Karn feel somewhat strange. He knew this elder brother hated him the most, and now, just because he brought the Bride back, he had become so friendly. This was truly too strange.

Karn decided to bide his time and see what Morlun truly intended.

Meanwhile, Peter woke up in the cell. He used the techniques he learned from Coulson to break free from his restraints, and eventually followed the clues Karn left behind to find the Weaver.

The Weaver was trapped in the golden Web of Destiny, weaving fate day and night. Beside him were 'the Scion' Little Benjamin and 'the Bride' Gwen.

Upon seeing Peter, the Weaver gave him two scrolls and said a strange sentence.

"Take them. This is our destiny."

Peter took the two scrolls, then returned to the cell before the other members of the Inheritors Family discovered him. After that, he waited for Karn. Peter shared the scrolls with Karn, and the latter also learned the truth of all matters.
