Chapter 116 - Chapter 116: Chaos Wings!

"No..." The Cursed Children were nowhere to be found! Rentaro burst out of the sewers, frantically searching through district after district

"No..."

The Cursed Children were nowhere to be found!

Rentaro burst out of the sewers, frantically searching through district after district.

No sign of them.

None.

Still nothing.

It was as if all the Cursed Children had vanished from the world.

Finally—he found one.

A single child, tucked away in an unfinished building on the outskirts of town.

Just as he started to run toward her—

A strange sight stopped him cold.

The girl, frail as a skeleton, stood with her hands clasped over her chest, as if in silent prayer.

He heard her whisper, "Lord God... I want to be by your side."

And then, her body was wrapped in radiant golden light.

She slowly transformed—into a glowing orb of light.

The golden sphere shimmered gently, then shot past Rentaro, soaring skyward as if summoned by a higher force.

He instinctively gave chase, bursting from the building and into the open.

Looking up into the sky—

"What... is that?"

His eyes widened in awe.

The entire sky was filled with golden orbs.

They glimmered and swirled above, all flying in the same direction—like a radiant migration of souls.

Each golden light… was a Cursed Child.

"What's happening to Nanashi-kun?"

Shinobu gazed upward, worry etched across her face.

Suspended in the air was a lone figure.

Nanashi's body floated high above.

Behind him, two radiant wings unfurled.

One gold.

One black.

The golden wing gleamed with divine brilliance.

The black one seethed with chaotic darkness.

Reinhard frowned. "I don't know what this means… but the black wing radiates sin and shadow."

"The golden one... feels like hope and light."

The contradiction was unsettling.

Inside the chat group—

Lemuel: "Everyone, does anyone know what's going on?"

Momonga: "What's wrong with Boss Nanashi?"

Silver Wolf: "Black and gold wings? No idea what that means."

March 7th: "Is Nanashi in danger?"

Tushan Honghong: "Brother Nanashi isn't hurt, right?"

Aqua: "How did he pull that off?"

Esdeath: "Do you know what happened?"

Aqua: "Heh. Of course this goddess knows."

Lemuel: "Then explain."

Seitenshi: "Aqua-sama, please tell us what happened to Lord Nanashi."

Shinobu: "Yes, Aqua, please!"

Aqua: "Eh? Why's everyone so worried about that idiot?"

Seitenshi: "…"

Shinobu: "…"

They couldn't exactly admit it outright—he was their man.

Saeko: "…"

Saeko's sharp gaze said it all—she already knew.

Aqua: "Fine, fine. I'll explain. Relax—he's not in any danger."

Aqua: "The black energy is sin. The gold is faith. How he gathered both... I have no clue."

Kisara: "Sin? And faith?"

Aqua: "Exactly. With enough sin, one can ascend the path of a demon god. With enough faith, one becomes a god of belief—like me."

Aqua: "But how did that idiot Nanashi gather both? That's what's insane!"

Tushan Honghong: "So… Brother Nanashi's becoming a god?!"

Reinhard: "Gold and black… God and Devil, coexisting?"

Aqua: "Tch. That's what's impossible to understand."

Aqua: "You can't be both a demon god and a god of faith."

Aqua: "If a demon god turns into a god of faith, the sin is purified. If a god of faith falls, their belief is shattered and they absorb sin instead."

Aqua: "Nanashi never walked the path to godhood."

Aqua: "Instead, he condensed all that faith and sin—into a pair of wings. Just... wings. What kind of nonsense is that? He wasted his shot at becoming a god!"

Saeko: "That sounds like Nanashi-kun."

Saeko: "He said long ago that he would never become a god through belief—especially after seeing Aqua's… well, 'mediocre' divine powers."

Aqua: "…"

Aqua was mortally offended.

But deep down, she knew—it was true.

Nanashi had always scoffed at her so-called divinity.

So of course, he'd refuse godhood through faith.

To him, it was tainted.

Once the trial was over, the chat group buzzed with system notifications.

[Ding! Protozoan creatures have been completely eradicated. Doomsday scenario: Complete!]

[Ding! Nanashi has eliminated the enterovirus. Nanashi has purged the darkness of the world. The apocalypse has ended.]

[Ding! Rewards distributed—Nanashi: 1.5 million Doomsday Points, Reinhard: 200,000, Lemuel: 130,000, Shinobu: 80,000, Kisara: 30,000, Seitenshi: 10,000!]

The announcements ended.

But Nanashi could feel it.

Black and gold energy surged toward him from all corners of the world.

If he accepted either one... he would ascend to godhood instantly.

But he understood their nature—sin and faith—and he rejected them both.

Such power, without clarity and conviction, would only corrupt.

He wouldn't accept that kind of godhood.

But—he could manipulate energy.

He discovered something remarkable.

If it was energy, it could be redirected.

So he shifted the vector flow, controlling the direction of both the sin and faith.

Instead of absorbing them—

He merged them.

Outside his body.

Into a physical form.

And to his shock—

It worked!

They formed a pair of brilliant wings.

One black. One gold.

The Wings of Chaos!

At the moment the wings took shape,

Nanashi understood exactly what he had created.

These were Chaos Wings—a power akin to a Zanpakutō, a tool weapon forged from energy and intent.

An SS-rank ability, meaning that once fully condensed, it could potentially take on six enemies at once in combat.

But more than just strength, he understood their true nature.

The black wings—Wings of Sin—possessed the powers of Sin, Judgment, and Corruption:

Sin: All sins could be absorbed, becoming nourishment for the Wings of Sin and fueling destructive power.

Judgment: The wings could pass judgment on the guilty, delivering swift and final sentences.

Corruption: The power to infect others with sin, turning them into apostles of darkness.

The golden wings—Wings of Redemption—held the powers of Salvation, Prayer, and Faith:

Salvation: All faiths could be drawn in and transformed into restorative energy.

Prayer: The ability to channel belief into miracles, granting wishes through sheer will.

Faith: The gift of divine strength, transforming followers into Angels of Redemption.

Most importantly, the powers of sin and faith contained within the Chaos Wings were not bound by any world or system.

They were born from something far deeper—forces belonging to the unknown itself.

And in that moment of realization...

He heard it.

The whispering voice of sin carried by the world—every soul he had judged and sentenced, all guilty, all absorbed by the Wings of Sin.

And he heard faith—the sincere prayers of the cursed children.

So he responded—by granting them power in return.

"I heard my brother's voice!" Enju exclaimed.

"Me too!" said Cai, followed by several others nodding in agreement.

And then—before anyone could react—those children burst into radiant golden spheres and flew into the golden wings behind Nanashi.

"Look!" someone shouted in surprise.

They weren't alone.

All around them, golden lights filled the sky—thousands of them—converging toward Nanashi's golden wings.

Aqua: "????"

Aqua: "Why can he give faith? And create angels? Didn't Nanashi not become a god?!"

Aqua was completely baffled.

Wasn't only a god supposed to be able to bestow faith and create divine beings?

Could it be... Nanashi had become one?

Nanashi: "Heh, I told you—I'm not becoming a god like that."

Nanashi floated freely, the wings of sin and redemption spread behind him.

Aqua: "Then how did you do this?"

Nanashi: "Simple. I forged the power of sin and faith into these wings and made them part of my abilities."

Aqua: "…"

"You make it sound like manipulating divine and infernal forces is easy!"

Nanashi: "Because for me, it is. I can control the direction of energy."

Aqua: "You mean… vector manipulation?"

Silver Wolf: "Vector? Is that what I know?"

Nanashi: "You could say that. My vector manipulation started as a rough stone... now it's evolving toward something close to a miracle."

Aqua: "That's ridiculous!"

Nanashi: "Thank you for your compliment, Aqua."

He chuckled softly. This goddess always found a way to stir things up. Still, it was fun.

"Almost there…"

His eyes sparkled.

All the cursed children—no, now angelic children—who believed in him had gathered.

As for their location?

Nanashi's gaze pierced the veil of space, reaching deep into the heart of the Chaos Wings.

There, within the wings, existed a separate dimension—the Chaos Realm, the final ability granted by Chaos Wings.

A world divided cleanly into two halves: black and white.

At its center, a black castle stood amidst shadow.

Opposite it, a white temple radiated light.

He had designed both with his own vision in mind.

Within this realm, everything was under his control. He could shape and reshape it at will.

This domain had become the sanctuary for his Apostles of Sin and Angels of Faith.

The cursed children—no, the angelic children—now fully understood the truth through the power of faith.

Their appearances had changed:

Flowing white gowns (though they could alter their clothing freely), glowing golden halos above their heads, and radiant wings behind them.

They had truly become angels.

Their forms were flexible—they could hide their wings and halos and appear human as well.

"Lord God!"

They all seemed to sense Nanashi's gaze.

But Nanashi grimaced slightly at the title.

"Just call me Brother Nanashi. That's enough."

"Brother Nanashi!"

Three hundred thousand voices rang out in perfect harmony.

"…"

His heart stuttered at the sound.

And his imagination ran wild—three hundred thousand belly-button-sized problems forming in his mind.

"It's too cruel…"

"Um… Brother Nanashi?"

A slightly bashful voice came from behind him.

"Hm?"

Nanashi turned.

"Lemuel?"

Caught off guard, Nanashi quickly turned back to his angelic followers.

"Everyone—live freely here. This world belongs to you now."

The angels nodded with joy and understanding.

Nanashi returned to the real world.

A new thought crossed his mind—and then, as if summoned by that thought…

Cai, Yin, Red, Enju, Tina, Kayo, and a white-haired cat girl appeared before him.

All of them looked at him—nervous, excited… and deeply moved.

The white-haired cat girl was named Midori Fuse.

Nanashi found her among the Angelic Children.

He had taken a liking to her—after all, she was an adorable cat girl.

Finally, a red-haired angel appeared... Hm? Lemuel.

"Lemuel, what's wrong?" he asked gently.

Lemuel had already changed back into her usual clothes.

She had once been a false angel.

Now, she was the real thing.

Lemuel scratched her head sheepishly, smiling.

"Back then, when I saw your black wings… they reminded me of the fall of the Laterans. I got a little worried about you, and well… things turned out like this."

"…"

Worried? No, it was more than that.

Faith isn't given so easily.

There had to be a deep, sincere belief in her heart. A strong hope—maybe even love.

Staring into her eyes, Nanashi spoke seriously:

"Now that it's come to this... I'll take responsibility."

Lemuel grinned mischievously.

"Responsibility? You mean like with Seitenshi, Shinobu, and the others?"

"Uh…"

Nanashi paused awkwardly.

"If you're okay with that... sure."

He hadn't expected Lemuel to suddenly wrap her arm around his neck and burst into laughter.

"Hehe. Then I'll be in your care. You can call me Lem when we're alone. Lem-chan works too. Normally, Lemuel is fine."

She seemed carefree, casual with her words.

But her blushing ears and reddened neck didn't escape Nanashi's eyes.

He understood immediately.

Pure Angel (✘)

Horny Angel (✔)

Looked like he'd need to properly educate her later… show her the rightful place of an Angel.

An Lemuel should be someone who endures for eternity!

Retracting his Chaos Wings, Nanashi descended gently, bringing his companions back to solid ground.

Seitenshi rushed forward and embraced him.

Kisara's brow twitched.

There was definitely something going on between those two!

"I'm alright. Don't worry," he reassured her, patting her gently on the back.

Nanashi shared his observations with her.

"Eighty-two percent of the world's ordinary people perished… a lot fewer than I expected."

He had originally estimated around 90%.

Many of those who survived had likely heard the news—the enterovirus was gone, and the Cursed Children had recovered.

Without the fear and hatred fueled by the virus, their hearts had begun to change. They had not been judged.

After all, countless people had lost loved ones to the protozoa and the virus.

Their resentment had been directed at the disease.

And when that hatred had nothing left to cling to… forgiveness followed.

As long as people survived with unbroken hearts, the world could still be saved.

Because now… the Cursed Children no longer exist.
