Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

"Sky Wheel — Triple Sword Strike!"

Swish! Swish! Swish!

Three beams of sword light connected end to end, forming a triangular seal that slashed across Smoker's body.

"It's over," Mirajane said with a confident smile.

"That's amazing!" Nami exclaimed in delight.

"Mr. Smoker!" Sergeant Tashigi's eyes widened as she cried out in alarm.

"No… it's far from over."

Sugisawa Yuuto's calm voice cut through their cheers. He knew better. Against a Logia user, a slash without Haki was meaningless.

As if to prove him right, the only thing that burst from Smoker's body wasn't blood—it was smoke, billowing and curling into the air.

"This level of attack is completely useless against me!" Smoker growled, his voice like thunder. His seastone-tipped jitte clashed against Erza's sword with a piercing metallic shriek.

Caught off guard by the sudden counterattack, Erza was forced back over ten meters, her boots scraping against the ruined cobblestone street.

"Your ability… even my sword can't cut through it?" Erza raised an eyebrow in genuine surprise.

"Not just your sword," Smoker replied coldly. "All physical attacks are useless against me."

It was the basic truth about Logia Devil Fruit users. Their bodies could turn into elemental forms, untouchable by normal weapons. Everyone who had sailed the seas knew this.

"Immune to physical attacks…" Erza muttered. With a flick of her wrist, dozens of floating magic blades shot forward, piercing Smoker's smoke-clad form from every angle. His body was riddled with gaping holes, yet not a drop of blood fell.

Erza's expression darkened. "So it really is ineffective. What a troublesome power."

"El—Erza's attacks don't even scratch him! What's going on?" Mirajane gasped, her usual composure faltering.

Yuuto's voice was steady, almost casual. "That's the ability of Logia users. Their bodies become natural elements, immune to all physical strikes."

Nami's eyes lit with recognition. "Right… I remember now! Colonel Smoker of Loguetown—he's the one with the Smoke-Smoke Fruit!"

"But… if physical attacks can't touch him, isn't that the same as invincibility?!" Mirajane cried, her face paling.

Yuuto shook his head. "Invincible? Hardly. Logia users have weaknesses. Seastone, for one. Haki as well. And don't forget—large-scale energy attacks can threaten them, too."

"Seastone? Haki?" Mira repeated, frowning in confusion. These were terms she had never heard.

But before Yuuto could explain further, a thunderous crash shook the street. Erza was still fighting furiously, her armor shifting with each rapid change of Requip magic. She hurled blade after blade, storm after storm of magical attacks at Smoker, yet none of them could land a decisive blow.

The street was being torn apart—walls collapsing, roofs caving in. Erza's destructive reputation as part of Fairy Tail's "Demolition Squad" was proving itself once again.

"President," Mirajane said cautiously, "if you don't stop her soon, Erza will end up leveling this entire street…"

Yuuto exhaled, finally stepping forward. He had only wanted Erza to experience firsthand the reality of fighting a Logia user. That had been enough.

"That's enough."

His voice thundered like a divine decree. Golden lightning crackled across his body as he vanished from sight. In the blink of an eye, he stood between Erza and Smoker, catching Smoker's seastone jitte in his left hand and halting Erza's blade with his right.

"Leave it to me from here," Yuuto said firmly.

"Yes, President." Erza withdrew at once, giving the battlefield to him.

"Perfect," Smoker said, smoke swirling menacingly around him. "I've been wanting to see the strength of your so-called Thunder Fruit."

But before he could strike, an invisible force bore down upon him. His knees buckled, his spine bent under the crushing weight. His eyes widened in disbelief.

"Th-this… is gravity?"

He gritted his teeth, resisting with all his strength, but his thoughts were in chaos. Wait… isn't he supposed to have the Thunder Fruit? Why gravity?!

Boom!

The pressure intensified. Smoker's body was driven into the ground with a deafening crash, the cobblestones shattering beneath him. Desperately, he dispersed into smoke, reforming behind Yuuto. His jitte came down in a merciless arc—

—but struck nothing.

Yuuto's figure blurred and vanished.

Pain lanced through Smoker's wrist. With a sharp twist, Yuuto stripped the jitte from his hand.

"First, you came looking for a fight—so you'll clean up the damage yourself. Second, seastone weapons may be effective, but they can also become your own weakness. And finally—" Yuuto smirked, twirling the jitte casually, "—this one's mine now."

Smoker's eyes widened. "What?!"

A chill ran down his spine. Instinct screamed danger. His body dispersed into smoke and shot skyward. But Yuuto was already there, like his shadow.

At the count of three—

Smack!

The seastone jitte struck the back of Smoker's head with brutal force.

Whoosh! BOOM!

Smoker's body was hurled through several houses, walls collapsing as he crashed into rubble. Dust and debris billowed high into the air.

With a single blow—

The Marine's feared "White Hunter" Colonel Smoker was defeated.
