Cane's POV
A whole week. A whole damn week, and nothing. I'd been pacing a hole in my office floor. My guys, the best money can buy, couldn't find a single trace of Stephanie. It was like she'd vanished into thin air. Again.
How? How does one woman keep disappearing on me? It didn't make any sense. It made me crazy. I was worried sick, sure. But under that, there was a hot, boiling anger. She took my daughter. She was hiding from me. And now… now I was starting to think she wasn't coming back.
The door opened. Armstrong walked in. He looked… strange. Anxious. He was just standing there, not saying a word.
"What is it, Armstrong?" I snapped. "Spit it out."
He didn't answer. He just stood there, looking at me with this weird look on his face.
My temper, which was already on a hair trigger, blew. "I am not in the mood for this!" I yelled, slamming my hand on the desk. "Either you start talking right now, or you get the hell out!"
