Stephanie's POV
I pushed open the hotel room door with my shoulder because my hands were shaking too hard to work the key properly. The nanny, a quiet college girl named Leah, looked up from the little table where she was coloring with Jolina.
"Everything okay?" she asked soft.
"Yeah. Thank you so much for staying late." I dug cash out of my clutch (three hundreds, more than I promised) and pressed it into her hand. "Go home and sleep. I've got her."
She gave me a quick, worried smile and left.
The second the door clicked shut, I leaned against it and let the air out of my lungs. My legs felt like water. I kicked off the stupid red heels, peeled the dress over my head, and left everything in a pile on the floor. Bra, panties, all of it. I walked naked to the bathroom and turned the shower on hot.
The water hit me like needles at first, then it felt good. I stood under it and finally let go.
