Chapter 159 - Chapter 159: Gang Beating

"A bunch of small fry. Are you here to die?" Though Lord Slug spoke nonchalantly, he stared at Goku and the others with a grave face, especially Goku—1,500,000 was already very close to his own power.

Though his actual power level was 2,000,000.

"Explosive Air Shot!" The first to move wasn't Goku but the weakest, Krillin. The large spherical ki blast he launched was very slow, and Slug easily dodged it with a sidestep.

"Is that move of yours out for a stroll?" Slug cast Krillin a contemptuous glance and ignored him. This technique wasn't even as fierce as Nappa's Break Cannon from before.

But Krillin flashed a triumphant grin.

"Descend!" He swung both hands down hard. Countless ki blasts plunged from the sky at extreme speed toward Slug's position, catching him completely off guard. They all struck home. While Slug didn't suffer any substantial damage, he looked utterly bedraggled.

His clothes were in tatters, and white smoke curled from his body.

"You damned little baldy!" Slug swiped toward Krillin.

"Dodon Ray!" Slug had already used his extendable-arm trick once against Nappa, so the Z Fighters were ready for it. As Slug tried it again on Krillin, Tien Shinhan thrust out both hands and fired a Dodon Ray, piercing and pinning the arm to block the grab.

"You trying to die?" Slug was incredibly fast; even at a power level of 640,000, Tien was far inferior. But Tien wasn't fighting alone.

"Masenko!" Piccolo pressed both hands to his forehead and hurled a ki wave at Slug, throwing his movement off once more.

In a one-on-one, Tien, Piccolo, or Krillin would all be completely overwhelmed by Slug, but working together they could keep him busy for quite a while.

And besides, don't forget there was Goku with a power level of 1,500,000.

"Heh-heh, you little insects have succeeded in angering your king." Slug gave a sinister grin and charged straight at Krillin.

"Not good!" Goku moved immediately, but he was a hair slower than Slug. Krillin had already prepared his defense, quietly gathering ki in his right hand to spring a surprise.

But as Slug was about to reach Krillin, he flashed him a strange smile.

Cold sweat beaded on Krillin's forehead; a terrible premonition seized him. He tried to shout a warning, but he was a step too late.

Just as he feared, as Goku was about to overtake Slug, Slug suddenly wheeled around and fired a golden ki blast at Goku.

Goku never saw it coming and slammed straight into it. Smoke billowed skyward, and Slug didn't stop—he kept launching ki blasts at Goku's position in rapid succession, intent on blasting him to dust.

"Tri-Beam!" "Special Beam Cannon!" The other Z Fighters reacted quickly and counterattacked Slug with their strongest techniques.

Unfortunately, Slug had already achieved his purpose. Laughing, he vacated his spot and dodged Tien's and Piccolo's shots.

Goku reappeared in the sky, covered in wounds and clutching his bleeding right hand.

Clearly, Slug's sudden strike had worked. The Z Fighters' strongest, Goku, had an arm put out of commission.

"Ugh." Goku hovered with difficulty, holding his arm. Despite his great talent, he had a fatal flaw: unlike the Saiyans' arrogance, he lacked vigilance in battle. Most of the time he was relaxed and excited; excitement isn't bad, but being too relaxed in a fight is deadly.

Unless Goku truly got angry, it was indeed relatively easy to catch him off guard.

"Goku! Gohan, give your dad a Senzu Bean, quick!" Piccolo called to Gohan, who had been hiding on the sidelines since the battle began.

He and Yamcha couldn't participate in a fight of this level, but one more person still meant one more bit of help. The two of them stood not far off, watching and tracking the battle's flow.

"You two little insects—die!" Slug didn't know what the "Senzu Beans" Piccolo mentioned were, but he followed the principle of destroying anything the enemy needed.

His eyes began to glow faintly—he was about to nail Gohan with Eye Lasers.

Not good! We can't wait any longer! I'll have to use this early!

"Destructo Disc!" A disk-shaped ki blade formed in Krillin's hand, and he hurled it hard at Slug.

In the Dragon Ball world, the Destructo Disc is a very powerful move, said to cut through anything—even ignoring power levels to let the weak overcome the strong, often with miraculous effect. Like the Solar Flare, Krillin used these two techniques to toy with Frieza and even slice off his tail.

For all its power, the move has a fatal flaw: it's very slow—much slower than an ordinary ki blast—and basically useless for a sneak attack. Created on the principle of using wind to slice through everything, the Destructo Disc gives off a loud buzzing you can hear from far away.

Unless the opponent is careless, it's almost impossible to land.

"Hmph, little baldy, you think such a slowpoke move can touch me?" Slug cast a disdainful glance at the wobbling Disc in the sky and actually tried to block it with his arm.

"It worked!" Krillin's face lit up when he saw Slug's move.

The instant Slug's arm touched the Disc, his face changed dramatically. A drilling pain shot through his arm—he couldn't stop it at all.

Fortunately for Slug, the move was so slow he had time to tilt his head aside.

After severing Slug's arm, the Destructo Disc didn't slow, streaking onward and skimming across his forehead. He saved his head, but one of the antennae on his brow was lopped off.

"Damn you, little baldy!" Slug glared viciously at Krillin in the distance, then flexed the half-severed limb. Flesh writhed, green blood gushed, and a brand-new arm sprouted again.

It cost some stamina, but Slug's arm regenerated.

"I'll kill you!" Slug had never suffered such humiliation—injured by someone with only just over a hundred thousand in power, and even losing an arm.

In Slug's mind, Krillin had entered the must-kill list.

And now he would do exactly that: kill Krillin!

"Fifteenfold Kaio-ken!" Just as Slug was about to reach Krillin, a red-tinged figure slammed into him at incredible speed.

"Impossible! I should have crippled your arm!" Clutching his stomach, Slug stared as if seeing a ghost. The bloodied, one-armed Goku now stood before him seemingly uninjured.

"Yeah, that's right. I almost died just now, but thanks to you I'm all better," Goku said.

"Damn you, Kakarot, hogging the spotlight! I'm telling you, I'll be the one to take this guy down!" A brash voice rang out as spiky-haired Vegeta appeared before them again.

"Impossible! Why don't you have a scratch either! Even if you didn't die, you should be badly hurt!" Slug had great confidence in his strength, but the ones he thought he'd taken out were showing up one after another as if nothing had happened.

What the hell was going on?

"Ah, Vegeta's here too." Goku glanced at Raditz standing beside him and understood.

Slug's strike had indeed badly injured Vegeta. But he'd run into Raditz on the way—and Raditz had Senzu Beans.

By a blessing in disguise, Vegeta not only recovered completely, his strength also surged again.

He'd been on the verge of death earlier.

"Let's finish this guy! Didn't expect a Namekian to get this strong." As Raditz spoke, he glanced at Piccolo.

"Perfect. I've been wanting to teach this green-skinned monster a lesson." Vegeta's ki blasted skyward; his power level had climbed to 1,090,000.

What he didn't notice was Piccolo's face turning very ugly at that remark—in other words, he was green with rage.

"Let's show him Saiyan power!" Raditz's aura swelled again, his power level spiking to 1,100,000.

"Since you're courting death, I'll oblige you!!!" Slug glared darkly at the three Saiyans before him.
