Chapter 47 - Execution, Chapter 47

With the first lights of day, the streets of the Varish were crowded, bright and peaceful, wish did not last for long, as people walked by the noble houses that are scattered around the streets, they noticed a crowd of royal guards walking, there, curiosity did not last long

The guards knocked down the gates of the first noble house, confusion filled the air as the who inhabited it were dragged from there comfy beds, leaving their sturdy high walls chained like thieves, a disgracing site for their reputation

People started theorizing amongst themselves about what is happening here, but the guards did not stop at one, they skipped some and busted into others, the orders were for specific names, that is what the people noticed, for not all noble families were pulled from their roots

The nobles had no chance to even ask why, they were dragged across the streets, it was intentional, trying to humiliate them, and to spread the news, the guards took unnecessary turns

By the time news travelled across the capital, "The guards are going to publicly execute full bloodlines of noble houses", people have already stood in lines awaiting the event

The execution grounds were full, between the shoulders the nobles were dragged, all these riches they had couldn't bring them a clean rag to cover themselves with

Their teeth bit on iron bars rejecting them the right of speech, their clothes torn out and dirty, full of mud

From behind the chained, a man wearing a rob of white cloth walked holding a letter in hand. He stood facing the crowd with his back to the criminals

"A message from his Highness, Arthur the first, hero of the battle of the giants, and the revolutionary of the capital"

"My people, I herby declare these noble houses, as traitors, criminals who chose to sell our land in times of need,"

They were sat on their Knees as people from social classes stood shoulder to shoulder, horrified, full of shock, the man continued

"The reason for such is, unauthorized smuggling for the riches of the land," the noble's shock only grew larger, they fought the chains trying to speak up, but their teeth were no iron made

"In wish could have dropped us into big financial problems, these criminals conspired to force the poor merchants to follow their requests, which would have resulted in a major increase in the homeless rate"

"They are sentenced, the death sentence" said the man, the crowd couldn't be more shocked, the nobles cried silently, children, men, women, elderly, they were all chained on their Kness awaiting the icy grip of death

Cold sharp steal fell down, separating the bones and flesh of their bodies, the corpses were left in their place as a warning sign, as their blood was drained colouring the floor

On the ground Richard, the young inspiring reader was as shocked as everybody, "One time they increase the taxes, another they slaughter power houses, these decisions only drench their picture deeper"

John was watching alongside his friends, Sara, Isabel, Henry, Thomas, William, from the windows of the king's castle, they looked at each other in confusion

"Did the butler just declare war on the noble houses?!" said John

"He just slaughtered some of the biggest, smashing them like flies," said William

"I don't know what he is anymore, is he just too stupid, an idiot with allot of power, or is he just, too smart or this game," said Henry

"Do you want to know why I did this?" said the butler from behind them, he moved like a ghost, they never knew where he was or what he thought so they just stared at him

"Fear" he said going closer to the window, staring the corpses down with a disgusted look

"Fear, keeps the people in line, although love can do the same, but it fades with time, and is harder to remake. On the other hand, fear can always be recreated, pretty easily, you know why?" he asked looking at John

They did not answer him, John collected soe bravery to talk up and said "because We are born afraid?"

"You are half right, most people are born crying and pissing themselves, if you are not, your called weird, abnormal, ill shaped. But these, ill shaped people, are the ones who stand atop of the rest, they are the ones that aren't affected by 'fear", so they can control it best," said The Butler

"The world, is controlled by weird people, not the by normal, the loving, the cheerful, abnormality creates fear, fear keeps you in line," said the butler

"Then why did you send a message glorifying this act, why did you use such soft words," said Henry

The butler looked at him and spoke

"People, like that sense of belonging, to be part of the bigger picture, when I put the crown on their side, they felt loved, and here is where fear play its part, it paves the way for love to step forward"

He walked away from the window and said "The effect of love doubles if applied after enough fear, just like how a mother feeds a hungry crying child, it creates a strong bond between the two, relief after pain, achievement after struggle, the food tastes best for a hungry person then it for a spoiled brat"

"Any way children, that is the lesson for today," the butler disappeared into the dark, leaving his weird ideas to travel across their brains

"These are lessons, That I loved listening to," replied Sara

"I hate to say it, but I agree," said Isabel "What about you book guy" she said looking at William

"I just… feel weird, about it" William said

"What ever you feel about it, this is way better, at least we are not the ones murdering or getting murdered here, I can't wait for next lesson if they are to be like this," said Thomas

Henry looked at John who was deep in his thoughts by his own, he said to him "What do you think about it?"

John took a moment to replay, he spoke saying "I think he is trying to be friendly, wither it is the bad friendly or the good friendly that I don't know yet"

"Well, we will discover this with time anyways, for now this is better for me than the masked man's," said Thomas, as they walked down stairs

"What do you think breakfast is this time?" said Sara

"Maybe some sallied, wish is healthier for you" replied Isabel

Down the street the old merchant man sat on his chair beside Bairen, his hand, and the guard that pushed his wheel chair

He was shocked at the scene, these heads belonged to the ones that came to his office in the past couple of days, he was as shocked as Bairen was

"What do we do?!" said Bairen

The old man looked up at him and said "We, know nothing about them", he wanted to break all ties with the dead, fearing he might be the next in line

Richard walked towards the market, although the scene shocked him, he had more important stuff, walking across he reached his usual spot, the merchant that always waited beside him was nowhere to be seen

He went in front of the dark alley put a piece of bread beside it, and went to place his goods, the lack of sleep caused by regret was carved under his eyes, little black pillows kept his pupils up

He stared at the silent dark street, , mouldy bread placed beside it, no hands to touch the food, left their to be eaten by maggots
