Chapter 50 - The book, Chapter 50

The Varish was undergoing tuff days, entrée and leave became a myth amongst the common folk, even nobles had no power over the leaving carriages, it became a cage without bars, only birds of sturdy wings had a chance to breath the outside's air

Some whispers about a war going in the outside world spread through out the streets, but this fire was calm

After all, people had full stomachs, and safe houses, no need to think about such stuff if it doesn't hurt them

John sat on the window, his feet dangled outside as he watched from a high floor, the far away sea and foreverness it went towards

"Does it, ever end?" said John

"It does" said William from behind him "at least that is what the books say" before throwing what the one he held in hand

"What did you do this for?" asked John

"It is full of lies, saying the world have an edge, if so, water would've fled long ago," said William

"Didn't it say that there is a wall stopping it from doing so," said John

"No wall can stay sturdy this long, and if there is one, the waves he reflects shall only become stronger each year," said John

"You can never judge it until you see it for yourself," said John

"Yeh, if we ever get the chance to leave this place" said William before throwing another book

"If you want to get rid of these books give them to Isabel, she'd like to do so for you," said John

"I did" replied William

"And?" asked John

"She said they don't look expensive enough" replied William before throwing another

"Then why not burn them," said John

"I don't want to start a fire" said William as he threw another having one last book in hand

"Why are you getting rid of the anyways?!" said John

"They are useless, full of uncompleted truths and deceiving lies," said William, he stopped throwing when he had the last one, it was the one with weird drawing of disordered fingers and splitting eyes

"Aren't you going to throw that as well?" said John

"This one is weird" said William "When touching the cover, I feel as if what's on it is real, as if the eye is popping out and the fingers are worm, I don't know if I am going mad"

"Let me see" said John, he put his hand and rubbed it slowly across the stitched leather and said while closing his eyes "Hmm… I. I…"

"Do you feel it as well?" asked William

John was deep in thoughts, moving his fingers back and forth he suddenly said

"Yep" William had a smile up for a moment before John continued "You are indeed, going mad" opening his eyes and handing back the book

William sighed while John said

"Are you sure this one's not a prank?"

"And perhaps wish one of the others have enough skill to make such one," said William

"Maybe it is not one of us" replied John coming down from the window

"What? You think some guard would come out if its way to do so? Or do you think the butler is having fun with us?" asked William

"Maybe, and maybe none of those did it," said John

"You think the masked commander would come out of his way to prank me," said William

"Well, he always came up with weird trainings for us, although this one seems too safe," said John

"If you think this one is safe, you need to review your backlog," said William

"So? Are you going to through it?" said John

"Well, if this is indeed a training method, it will come back eventually wont it" said William throwing it to the outside

Sara was standing in the museum, it was allowed only to high nobles, but them being VIPs, there was no hand to hold them back, she stared the crown closely, the gems beside it, and the gold it was made of

"Your still here? didn't you get your fill observing it yesterday?" said John coming down with William

"Well… I never heard of it containing gems," said Sara

"And I never heard of it decaying with time" said William" these stuffs tend to be missed when making recorded books"

"Yeh, I know but… the carvings look very, unnatural, and it is weird that no noble is allowed into the part where the crown is lays," said Sara

"Unnatural?" said John

"It looks as if, it was carved by something," said Sara

"Well of course it would look weird" said William "When have you ever heard of a mineral decaying by eating itself up"

"Look, kid" said Sara which annoyed William "I know enough about art that you can't argue this with me. When I say this isn't decay, I am speaking from experience"

"Oh yeah, the art specialist of 15 years knows best, did you start your studies in the womb miss?" said William, a fight was about to start wish led John to step up

"Guys why don't we leave this place for the night, I think I heard that food is ready, tonight there might be fish," said John

Sara walked it off, and so did William as they went away from the scene, John felt watched, but gave it no more thoughts

Entering the dining room, they found the rest in there, food was already on the table, a plate hit near Sara, wish was thrown by Isabel

Sara was about to yell at her but John stopped it saying

"Just, forget about it" he looked tired, his eyes blackened by the lack of sleep, even though they had nothing to stress them at all, she forgot about it as they went to eat

Thomas noticed this as well, and with his eyes he sent a message to his twin Isabel to stop it as well

They finished the meal and went to beds, on the way Isabel asked Thomas

"Do you think we are the reason?"

"We have always been doing this, so I don't think so," said Thomas

"I think, he is just not used to it yet" said John "Juts give him some time"

Walking upstairs, William who stood last in line walked by a door, it seemed to open a bit once he did

He went inside as he saw a light peaking out, to his horror he found a candle by the book he threw earlier

Isabel noticed his disappearance and came back leaving Thomas to talk with henry

Entering the room, she found him standing by the book, staring into the cover wide eyed

"What are you doing? Isn't this the book you found the other day?" she asked him

"Yes but, I remember throwing it out the window with John earlier today," said William

"That is weird, are you sure it is the same one?" asked Sara

Opening it while it was on the table he found the same empty pages "There is no bigger proof then this"

Isabel looked around the closed room with one closed glass window and said "I don't see any entrance for it to be pushed by the wind, and

it is perfectly placed"

William continued to move his pages, he picked it up and shacked it around wishing for any clue to fall. Looking closely the light coming

from the candles made a little tiny shadow on the book's papers, as if it's been written on with invisible ink

William noticed so and went searching for a Quill in the room

"What are you doing?" asked Isabel

"It's been written on, but the ink isn't visible for some reason," said William

"And what are you going to do?" said Isabel

"I will try to write over it," said William

He drenched the Quill in ink and put it on the paper, using his finger he tried tracking the lines and writing over them

"This is some weird gibberish, what do you think about it" he said with closed eyes trying to consternate

"What the!!!" said Isabel

"What?" said William he looked down to see the ink floating as if it was on water 'What the heck!!!"

The moment he picked the book by the side the ink fell as if it was poured on a cup of glass

"Have you ever read about a kind of paper that is like this" said Isabel

"No… no I never had," said William

While he was deep in thought she said "Why don't you put a paper above it and track over the lines"

"Girl… You might be a genius" said William as he rushed to get on

Isabel feeling so full of herself stood their waiting for him to cut it off a book

"Well, of course I am, books are not the sole source of knowledge" he came back doing as she suggested

"You need to walk out more to be like me—"

"What the!!!!" William cut her saying

"What?" replied Isabel

William showed her the ink doing the same trick, moving across the paper as if it was glass

"Are you sure this paper isn't of the same kind as the book's?" said Isabel

William tried writing his name and it worked out perfectly

"Hmm… Maybe the contact between them is the reason," said Isabel

William put each of them in a side and while closing his eyes he tried tracking with one hand and writing with the other

"Did it work?" said William

"Nope" Isabel replied, the ink did the same act

"This is a cursed book for sure" said William dropping his head on the table, the candle fell on it

"No—" said Isabel just to be shocked after taking it that it did not catch on fire

"Yep" said Isabel "It is cursed, or maybe you are cursed by it, let me try and be the writer" as she took the pen away

"And how are you going to do so?" asked William

"Describe it to me" replied Isabel

William stared her for a moment before deciding to go on with it

"A side ways line followed by an upper curvy one," said William

"Ok… Lets do this" said Isabel, only children's doodles were left intact, the rest slipped out in an instant

"This is a lost cause," said William "Even if we do write it down, it is complete gibberish so we won't be able to read it anyways"

They stared It defeated for a while

Up in their sleeping dorms the rest were waiting

The door opened as both Isabel and William joined them in

"Where were you at?" asked John

"Oha, a night date!" said Thomas teasing his twin sister

William picked the book up showing it to John

"Is this the same one we threw earlier?" said John

William nodded

"Well, I guess this is your test "said John tapping William's shoulder as he went to sleep

Thomas managed to understand what he could from this small interaction and said "I guess you found your life's partner" as he two went to bed

"Your cursed, try to get rid of it soon," said Isabel before getting a night's sleep as well

William stared at it while he was on the bed, he closed the lights off and went to sleep
