Chapter 312 - The Legendary Boy

Renjiro wasn't particularly fond of the concept of fate.

But sometimes, even he had to admit… this thing was downright uncanny.

Because the magic Bell awakened this time through the Unfixed Grimoire was—once again—the very same rapid-cast spell known as Firebolt.

This was despite the fact that the god who had bestowed Bell with falna was no longer Hestia—also known as Vesta, the Goddess of the Immortal Flame.

And Syr (Frigg), for her part, had absolutely no affinity with fire whatsoever.

Come to think of it…

If the ancient hero "Argo" truly was Bell's past life, then all of this suddenly makes perfect sense.

About twenty minutes later, Renjiro had just entered the base level of Babel together with Bell. Watching the rabbit boy dash eagerly toward the Dungeon entrance, he muttered this thought to himself.

After all, the First Hero—Argonaut, active in ancient times was famously intertwined with the attributes of fire and lightning.

Bell's Firebolt, in essence, was the same kind of dual-attribute magic as Ryuu's Luminous Wind.

That is—

A flame imbued with lightning.

This was a spell that required Favorability 4 to fully analyze.

Renjiro, naturally, grasped it instantly.

But…

Let's leave him a bit of ceremonial excitement. Better to let the kid burn off that initial thrill first.

He understood the psychology well. When a child just got a new "toy," seeing someone nearby pull out something even flaSyr would only dampen their joy.

So this was no time for emotional clumsiness.

Let the rabbit kid have his fun first.

Right now—

"Pfft—!"

A goblin fell.

A whole group of goblins collapsed.

"Hahahahaha—!"

The cheerful laughter of a young boy, accompanied by repeated explosions of flame-thunder, echoed endlessly through the First Floor of the Dungeon.

Renjiro followed behind at an unhurried pace.

He could tell that Bell was currently treating Firebolt as nothing more than a chant-less fireball.

In other words, the kid wasn't using the lightning aspect of the spell at all.

Even so, this rapid-cast magic still counted as a devastating weapon.

After all, among the five core Basic Attributes, Bell's Dexterity and Agility were already outstanding. Now, with just a shout he could instantly fire off attacks.

To traditional mages who had to mutter long, drawn-out chants, this was practically a nightmare—on par with Welf's Will-o-Wisp anti-magic.

Realistically speaking, only magic swordsmen like Ryuu—who had mastered parallel chanting—or heavy warriors like old man Gareth could remain relatively unfazed.

Because according to the iron rule: The shorter the chant, the weaker the spell.

Firebolt belonged squarely to the low-power category.

But that issue…

Will be neatly patched up once Bell awakens the skill "Argonaut."

This was precisely where a correctly built adventurer truly shined.

What did it mean to be the author's favorite child?

Rapid-cast magic was fast but weak?

No problem—Dad gives you charge mechanics.

Once Argonaut came online, Bell would become skilled—still firing straight beams, but transforming a pitiful little energy wave into an absurdly massive charged cannon.

And then—

Once Bell learns to properly exploit the lightning attribute, and I give him a weapon with excellent mana conductivity, his combat style will be more or less complete.

Renjiro had long since planned for this.

After all—Firebolt.

Fire and lightning.

Rapid-cast magic.

What weapon could possibly suit him better than a dragon-blood-bathed sword?

Speaking of which…

If Renjiro remembered correctly, back on Earth before he transmigrated, plenty of DanMachi fans jokingly called Bell a "Greatsword Killer."

Because every greatsword he ever used in canon… broke.

"I'm really curious whether your Greatsword-Killer debuff can overcome the Absolute Unbreakable property of a Genshin weapon."

Yes—our resident mischief-lover was clearly intrigued.

But…

"Giving out too many rewards at once only makes people get carried away."

Renjiro understood the saying well: a liter of kindness earns gratitude; a bucket earns resentment.

So for now… he decided to let Bell grow a bit more.

"At least until he reaches Level 2."

With that decision made, not long after—

"Fai ya… ugh—!"

After firing off dozens of Firebolts in wild excitement, Bell suddenly felt his vision blur. Without warning, he lost consciousness and collapsed straight to the ground.

Clearly, the over-excited boy had unknowingly drained his entire mana pool and entered a state of mental exhaustion.

"About twenty shots in a row… tch. As expected of magic worth over a hundred million. This is basically carrying around a high-powered incendiary shotgun."

Renjiro could have caught Bell before he fell.

But—just like before—

This habit of recklessly overdoing things needs a lesson.

"And besides…"

With both hands in his pockets, Renjiro walked over to Bell—but didn't look at the fallen boy.

Instead, his gaze shifted slightly toward a tunnel entrance.

"Come out. You've been sneaking around all this way—might as well speak plainly."

His tone was firm and unwavering.

It couldn't be helped. Renjiro was extremely experienced when it came to enemy detection.

With Paimon assisting him, there were no blind spots nearby—no place to safely hide.

He didn't even need to use Elemental Sight.

At that moment—

"As expected of the King of Magecrafts who crushed the Soma Familia single-handedly."

"My camouflage can fool even First-Class Adventurers, yet you saw through it so easily."

A dark-skinned man stepped out from the shadows.

Renjiro remembered him.

Back when Paimon had frozen time to deliver a warning letter to Goddess Ishtar, it was this man—alongside Lige Aisha Belka—who had been tailing Lumine, clearly harboring ill intent toward his airheaded little sister.

At the time, Renjiro didn't know the man's name.

But afterward, he had done his homework.

So now—

"Tammuz Belili."

Renjiro's eyes narrowed.

"Vice-Captain of the Ishtar Familia. What business do you have with me?"

Faced with such blunt questioning—

"Ishtar-sama wishes to invite you for a private meeting."

The dark-skinned man spoke calmly.

"Please honor us with your presence."
