Chapter 13 - A dangerous situation

Zuriel

"Why is mommy screaming, Daddy?" Raphael asks, wrapping his arms around my leg.

I pat his head, giving him a bright smile, "She's just.. uh.." I dart my eyes around, thinking of the best reply to give him.

"Why don't we live together? Daddies always stay with their kids, together with the mommies. Why aren't you living with us?"

I wrap his face in my hands, my heart swelling with unexplainable warmth. Oh gosh, I can't believe I had asked Aurora to get rid of this bundle of joy.

"Your mommy doesn't want me to live with her," I sigh, "She hates me a lot, son. She doesn't want to see my face again."

"Apologize. Mommy always says we can apologize," he pats my head, grinning.

As if I haven't tried, tch.

I get to my feet, "Want to play some games?"

He nods. I take a hold of his hand, leading him into the rooms.

...

Over the course of the next three hours, my phone blows up with calls, and messages, most of them from Aurora.

I know it's only a matter of time before Klaus works some magic, and finds me, and I won't risk that for anything.

Looking over at the sleeping child beside me, I sweep him into my arms, and walk outside.

No one knows where I am yet, so it's better I keep it that way.

My phone rings again, for the two thousandth time. I look to see who the caller is. It's Klaus this time.

I scoff, answering his call.

"What's up, bro?" I sarcastically ask.

"Listen to me, Zuriel. Stop this nonsense, and bring that child back. I'm still being lenient, and this can all end well. So hand over the kid, now I'm still being nice to you."

I roll my eyes, "You think you're being nice to me?" I place the boy in the back of my car, "The kid in question is my kid. Why should I hand him over?"

"A kid you wanted dead? Really now? Don't get on my nerves."

I get into my car, starting the engine, "You think you're so smart, brother. Turns out you really aren't. I don't understand why Aurora would want to marry you, but today's the day I show her what a absofuckinglutely useless dick you are."

I end the call right as he's about to say more. Without wasting time, I zoom out of there.

Exchanging words with him is one of the scariest things to do. I don't want to get into further trouble, all I just want to do is to get the fuck out of this pack.

If Aurora doesn't want to be with me, then my son should.

I immediately get on the highway, speeding away from this place.

Halfway through my drive, I notice some strange car following me. My heart flips, because I'm the only one who should be in this part of the pack. No one knows about this place.

"Calm down Zuriel, maybe it's just another shady car who came here to deal with their sh*t."

I laugh it off, who cares?

"Nice rental, bro," a rough voice greets beside me.

I whip my head to the side to see a huge man with a scar across his face.

"Nice to meet you too," I turn my eyes to the road to focus on my drive.

BLAM!

I duck just in time before the bullet can hit me in the head.

"The fuck?" I step on the accelerator pedal, zooming ahead of the white Audi.

"What the fuck? Who are these people?" I grit my teeth.

The gunshot must have woken Raphael up, because he jumps up, and begins to say gibberish.

I look at the back seat, trying to calm him down, "It's okay, boy. You can go back to sleep."

BLAM!

Another shot fires, and a bullet whistles through the back seat.

"Daddy, what is that?" Raphael shrieks.

Fuck it.

"I'm sorry boy, but you'll have to close your eyes, and your ears."

"Daddy–"

"Just do it!" I yell at him, whipping out my pistol.

"You motherfuckers!" I shoot back at the Audi with one hand, keeping my other hand on the steering wheel.

"Release the boy!" The rough voiced man yells at me, firing another gun.

I dig my teeth into my lower lip, cursing myself for being so careless.

"That fucking rogue!" I curse out loud.

Klaus of course, had sent them. How did I ever forget he is the Lycan lord of a gang? "Damn it!" I fire another shot, before rounding at a bend sharply!

"Raphael! Bend down! Keep yourself low, do you hear me?"

"Y- yes daddy."

He is sobbing heavily at this point. I didn't mean to drag the kid into this mess, but unfortunately life happens.

More bullets are grazing my side window, making it harder for me to focus on where I'm driving too.

I grind my teeth, tightening my grip on the steering wheel. My eyes dart around the area, thinking of where to turn to, so I can get rid of these people.

"What should I do? I have a kid in the car," I mutter, my head swelling up with frustration.

I could ditch the car, and slip away without them noticing me, but that'll be hard with the kid involved.

BLAM! BLAM!

My car swerves unnaturally off the road.

Damn those fuckers! My tyres have been hit!

More shots are fired, and I know too damn well those shots were aimed at my tyres to slow me down.

My car keeps going at an unnatural speed, headed for a valley. If I crash, i would die instantly.

I look back at the boy, and then back at the valley at which we are headed. His sobs are louder, and he won't stop screaming.

"Daddy! I'm scared! Please stop driving so fast!"

"I flinch open my door, ready to jump out.

I turn to grab his hand, but he seems to be stuck.

"What? Why are you stuck?" I groan, pulling him as hard as I can.

He yelps in pain, "My leg!"

I look closely, seeing his leg has been stuck underneath the seat. It must have been from his too much wriggling.

I look back to see we're closing in on the valley, and there's no much time to get him out of there. In my panic, I jump out of the moving car, rolling to the other side of the road.

"Raphael, I'm sorry," I mumble as I watch the car roll off the cliff, swerving headfirst into the valley.
