~Abigail's POV~
Watching Sofia cut into her cake, smiling as everyone claps and cheers, is a beautiful sight.
She looks so bright and happy, but I can notice her eyes subtly counting the people in the room. She knows some are missing, including her sons.
Everyone takes a slice of cake. I stay in my corner, picking at mine, feeling worried about Darius more than I care to admit.
I watch Kalliope and Zolani holding hands, dancing to the music thumping through the room, when someone blocks my view. It's Sofia, sliding into the chair across from me with a glass of red wine in her hand.
She smiles. "Are you having fun, dear?"
I can't help but laugh. "I'm supposed to ask you that. It's your birthday, after all."
