Chapter 9 - Exploring the Nether Fortress

Remembering that his Nether Portal was still at the library, Lin Tian set a marker in his room and teleported to the village.

It didn't take long for him to return to his new home.

Arriving at the balcony, Lin Tian built the Nether Portal on the edge and lit it again with his flint and steel.

He stood in silence, looking at the shimmering, purple, ethereal gate before him.

He had thought it would take at least a week before he would want to step through this door again. He hadn't expected to adapt so much faster than he had imagined.

"I really... am just treating this place like a game," Lin Tian murmured, then strode into the Nether Portal.

......

With a flash, Lin Tian arrived in the Nether once more!

The pungent smell of sulfur hit him, and the dark red netherrack appeared before him again. The distant lava sea continued to radiate heat.

Looking at the scene before him and smelling the lingering sulfur in the air, Lin Tian set a marker at this location.

Focusing on the new marker in his mind, Lin Tian walked forward.

"A Nether Fortress~ where could it be?"

Lin Tian walked on without a destination.

Finding a Nether Fortress was all up to luck; he didn't know of any method to locate one.

He looked at the strange, eerie trees around him. Although he knew they could be used just like normal trees, Lin Tian had no desire to chop them down.

Suddenly, a large group of bloated, pig-headed creatures appeared before Lin Tian—Piglins.

The moment he saw these Piglins, Lin Tian hurriedly retreated. Before they could spot him, he quickly crafted a helmet out of gold ingots and put it on.

These Piglins were not like the old Zombie Pigmen. If he wasn't wearing a piece of gold armor, he would likely be swarmed and beaten.

After putting on the gold helmet, Lin Tian approached the group of Piglins.

He had to admit, although these Piglins had pig heads with two large tusks and very bloated bodies, they were at least better looking than zombies.

Seeing that the Piglins were completely ignoring him, Lin Tian took out a gold ingot.

Instantly, all the surrounding Piglins looked over, their eyes shining as they crowded around him, holding all sorts of things in their hands.

Seeing this, Lin Tian was pleasantly surprised. He had thought he would have to rely on luck, but now he could just trade with whichever one was holding something he wanted.

"Alright, alright, one at a time~, one at a time, don't rush."

"Who has Ender Pearls?"

Lin Tian didn't care if they could understand him. If they could, wouldn't that be even better!

But seeing the vacant faces of the Piglins around him, Lin Tian could only check them one by one.

"Iron nuggets, nether quartz, obsidian, leather... don't need any of that."

"Huh? An Ender Pearl! Thanks, here you go."

"A potion? For you."

"A fire charge? This will work too."

"Ooh! An enchanted book! Come, come! For you, for you!"

"Enchanted iron boots! Here you go!"

.....

After a long while, Lin Tian had traded away all his gold ingots.

"Wow, what a great haul!"

This time, he had traded for a total of two enchanted books, one pair of enchanted iron boots, three fire charges, a Potion of Fire Resistance, and thirteen Ender Pearls.

"Thirteen Ender Pearls! Now all I'm missing are the Blazes!"

After finishing his trades, Lin Tian continued deeper into the Nether.

After walking for who knows how long, Lin Tian finally saw the outline of Nether bricks.

"Wahoo~!"

Lin Tian cheered. He had been on the verge of giving up. Along the way, he had run into Cthulhu-like Ghasts and Magma Cubes, and he felt like his sanity was about to break.

He eagerly arrived next to the Nether bricks, set a marker, and then teleported back to the vicinity of his Nether Portal.

He would go home and rest first.

Arriving in the Overworld and seeing that it was already night, Lin Tian went straight into his house, lay down on his bed, and had a wonderful sleep.

"Mmm~"

Lin Tian stretched. Although it felt like he hadn't slept at all, his spirits had indeed improved.

Arriving in the Nether again, Lin Tian teleported directly to the Nether Fortress.

Seeing the enormous structure before him, Lin Tian took out some cobblestone and began to pillar up.

Once on the bridge, Lin Tian looked left and right, then headed to the left.

Seeing a staircase here, Lin Tian went straight over and took the Nether Wart on both sides.

Continuing deeper, he saw chests along the way and unapologetically took their contents. As long as it was enchanted, he didn't care if it was an iron sword or a stone sword; a hoarder had to take everything. (Except for the rotten flesh, of course.)

Around a corner, a completely black skeleton stood there, holding a stone sword.

Seeing this skeleton appear, Lin Tian immediately raised his shield in defense.

Getting hit by this thing would inflict the Wither status effect!

Although he didn't know what that would feel like for a real person, Lin Tian had no desire to find out.

Lin Tian slowly walked towards the Wither Skeleton, hit it once with his diamond sword, and successfully created some distance.

He took a step back, raised his shield to block its attack, and seized the opportunity to hit it twice more, successfully killing it!

A puff of white smoke rose, and a drop identical to the Wither Skeleton's head fell to the ground—a Wither Skeleton Skull!

"Is my luck really this good!"

Lin Tian hadn't expected a Wither Skeleton Skull to drop. He only needed two more to summon the Wither.

A Nether Star was a great item!

Not only could it be used to make a beacon, but it could also... that was it.

It was only useful if he unlocked related mods; otherwise, it could only be used to make a beacon.

But that step was still a long way off, so Lin Tian didn't think too much about it.

He casually picked up the Wither Skeleton Skull and continued to search the area.

He collected all the Nether Wart he saw along the way, as well as the contents of the chests.

Before long, Lin Tian's inventory was almost full.

Therefore, Lin Tian had to leave one slot open for the Blaze Rods he needed.

Not long after, Lin Tian finally saw a Blaze spawner!

Seeing the monster flying in the air, wreathed in black smoke, its body composed of several yellow-red rods, and its head shaped like a skull and burning with fire, Lin Tian didn't feel afraid.

After all, the Ghast was far more terrifying in appearance.

Lin Tian charged forward with his shield raised.

This was the advantage of being a real person; he could use both hands at once.

Lin Tian dispatched several Blazes with just a few moves.

Looking at the Blaze Rods he had collected, Lin Tian stood to the side, waiting for the Blazes to respawn.

...

"Phew~, finally collected enough."

Back in the Overworld, Lin Tian was at his crafting table, crafting Eyes of Ender.

After he was done, he looked at the glass-like sphere that resembled an eyeball and felt a wave of discomfort.

Mainly because the thing looked too much like an eye!

Lin Tian immediately put it away, deciding not to look at it unless necessary.

"Next, I need to find the End Portal," Lin Tian muttered.

Although Lin Tian didn't have a full set of diamond armor yet, his iron armor provided enough defense.

"That's right! The enchanting table, that thing is very useful."

Remembering that item, Lin Tian couldn't help but facepalm.

"So much trouble! Why does it feel like I'm so busy every day!"

However, the thought of unlocking a new mod after going to the End made it feel somewhat worth it.

Besides, he was afraid that after going to the End, the next task would be unlocked, and it would definitely be to kill the Ender Dragon.

Otherwise, what would be the point of going to the End just to go to the End?

Thinking about this, Lin Tian decided to rest for today and just chat in the group.

Just then, a mechanical sound rang in his mind.
