Few days later with thier constant moving they managed to make it out of the Marines route Eve stared at the map
Africa was on the east while Europe was on the north on thier current spot
the resources they got from Landira Island were on the verge of ending leaving them to starve on the middle of the sea
that thought made Eve shiver after all she'd take death over starving
Vane was the first one to wake up stretching as his poet shirt slightly loose revealing a bit of his chest where the Mark of Blackbeard crew was on his neck, or rather how he call it "Mark of Shame"
Eve nodded towards him acknowledging his presence
"where's our next destination?"
Vane asked sitting next to her, observing the map
"I'd rather tell when everyone's awake"
Vane nodded as he leaned back, something felt wrong
This morning Vane had was quite the best one so far Vane stretched as he stood up walking towards the edge of the deck as he glanced at his reflection his eyes landed on the tattoo on his neck
Vane let out a sigh of disappointment as he looked towards Eve
"They better have tattooists there if that's a thing"
Eve chuckled
"Finally getting rid of that huh?"
Vane rolled his eyes
"it had it's benefits, being feared keeps the weak away from rebelling"
Eve raised a brow as she seemed curious
"how so?"
Vane took a deep breath as his expressions turned into a wistful one
"I believe that you need to be feared, that'll makes you avoid betrayal from the cowards that are close to you just to stab you on the back".
Eve shook her head
"Vane are you scared of me?"
Vane raised a brow resisting to make a sarcastic comment
"no, not really".
Eve chuckled as she raised her head from the map and looked at him her eyes never leaving his
"What matters is Loyalty, if crewmates obey to you just because you're intimidating, they'd simply just trash you when they find someone more intimidating "
Vane was taken aback by her comment, She noticed his expressions and added
"Loyalty is stronger than fear, it's quite impressing i managed to tame such a sly fox"
She paused again before adding
"i may not know your plan or what your desire is, but im sure you won't kill or betray any of us"
Vane looked at her
"and what makes you think so?"
Eve smiled wistfully her eyes turned back to the map
"Because we're your home."
Vane was taken aback 'home'? he lost this years ago, before becoming a Pirate, and even as a pirate he couldn't even find the purpose of his journey when he used to be in the same ship as Blackbeard... Untill he met Eve and the others.
Vane felt warmth towards them, but he always subconsciously hid it deep inside of him after all the years with Blackbeard and his crew, Vane had subconsciously marked 'Emotions' on the same list as 'Death'
"What does a Pirate like you know about home, Eve"
Eve looked at him and smiled knowing he didn't mean to offend her
"Someone told me that i don't need to belong somewhere or to something to find home, but i have to make something belongs to me".
