Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 : The Beginning

Veloria, the biggest city in Zythera, the kingdom of humans. The city that brings wonders through its Sorcertech. Many fantastic creations have been made throughout the city.

Furthermore, it can clearly be seen in Central where all the high-end facilities are located. The beauty of it cannot be compared to that of other cities in Zythera.

But all of that wonder doesn't impress him at all at the moment. He walks through the city, his eyes wandering around the streets, shops, and places where people congregate.

Right now, his left hand was tightly gripping the bouquet of flowers, and then he looked at it. Each flower and petal was caressed neatly.

Earlier, at the cafe, an idea suddenly surfaced in his mind. He was not entirely sure if it was gonna work or if things would become much worse. But what he does know is that he has to do something, anything.

He doesn't want things to end just like that. Right now, what he wants to do is to search for Helena, give her the flowers, and try to persuade her to at least finish today's date.

Knowing Helena, it might be useless, but at least if things are really about to end, let it be a smile. The important thing is that he doesn't want any of them to have any regrets in the end.

So right here and right now, Eryas tries his hardest to find Helena on the busy streets of Central. Looking for someone in these crowds might seem useless.

In fact, it does seem stupid, but it's the only thing he can do right now. His mind couldn't think straight; he just went with whatever came into mind. Act first, think later.

He knows where Helena lives, but from the way she dresses, it doesn't seem that she plans on going straight home. She might stop by somewhere first or meet someone first…

'Nope… I'd better stop thinking that.'

The streets are busy with people walking here and there. Sometimes a few trams pass through, and sometimes a private vehicle. Eryas enters a few shops that they usually visit together, searching for Helena.

He enters a few malls and a few entertainment places, but can't seem to find her. He was drenched in sweat. He stops by a tree and leans his back against it. Eryas steadied his breath, slowly inhaling and exhaling.

"Damn, why does it suddenly feel so hot?"

He sighed

'Damn it, if only I could use the Sorcerfon.'

At this point, he already felt like giving up. He just wants to go home and rest, reflect on what happened, and maybe cry a little. But he couldn't, and he wouldn't.

To Eryas, Helana is his first love. He had given everything he could for their relationship, so he didn't want to watch it end just like that. He also doesn't want to start everything all over again.

Even if he starts over, it will be pointless. For him, it would take such a long time, and time was something he didn't have, nor did everyone in this world.

The clock is ticking, and the end of the world is near. However, not many people are aware of that. That's why everyone enjoys themselves, minding their own business without having a slight fear in their mind.

The inevitable doom of the world is just around the corner, and it might even start now. Eryas' grip on the flower is getting tighter.

'I need to find Helena. I need to come clean. I need to tell her everything.'

Eryas straightens himself up, tidying his clothes and his hair. He massages his forehead lightly and sighs.

"North Middle Ring then."

With that, Eryas turned around, looking at the streets of entertainment of Central one last time. However, this time, he delicately examined all the details of the buildings, the roads, and even the street lamps.

He needs to muster up all the positive energy he can. And the right way to do it is to be fascinated and captivated by the wonders of magic.

Right now, his eyes were focused on a building with a massive screen on it. The special thing about it is that it displays a three-dimensional video. When people watch it, the video comes out of it.

Every building here had a giant screen that displayed multiple advertisements. On the walls of those buildings, huge engravings of runes can be seen, shining with a blue light. Even the street lamps were engraved with those runes, but they were currently off.

Eryas turns his head up, gazing right into the sky. He couldn't see it, but he knew there was a protective dome covering the entire city from any threats from the sky. All of these wonders of magic really help to calm him.

Eryas walked away from the tree, heading towards the nearest tram platform. Helena lives on the north side of Middle Ring, opposite where he lives.

"Hi Helena. Here, your flowers…"

"Hi, you forgot your flowers…"

"I know, I shouldn't be looking for you…"

"Nahhh…"

On his way onto the platform, Eryas softly mumbled about how he wanted to start the conversation. It is an essential step because if he makes a blunder, Helena might just walk away without hearing anything.

And it was a mistake he could not risk. After a few minutes of walking, he finally arrived. Here, it is packed with people compared to the Middle Ring.

Although the Middle Ring is where most common people reside, the majority of people can be found in Central. He glanced at the time.

'10 : 33 A.M.'

Suddenly, the idea of turning back and walking away hit him again. His mind continually replayed the scenario where, for every action he took, Helena would turn him down. But he simply steadied his breath and firmed his resolve.

'I faced death countless times, why would facing a girl chicken me out?'

The awaited tram finally arrives. Eryas waits with the rest of the people in the queue at the side, letting people get off first. He waited in a queue standing behind three men. The men in front slowly walked into the tram.

He steadily followed, but halted at the stairs onto the tram. At that very moment, a harrowing feeling strikes him, giving him goosebumps. A feeling that he hadn't felt in a long time.

"Hey, mister, move up there are other people who want to get on too."

Completely ignoring the man behind him, his eyes wander around the platform searching for something or someone. Even as a manaless person, he could clearly sense this unsettling feeling in the area.

With years of training and honing his five senses, he immediately knows what it is.

'Bloodlust…'

The feeling of bloodlust was so strong that it seemed to be coming from every direction.

'Am I imagining things? Huh, I guess this breakup really does a number on my heart.'

"Hey, move it, dude."

Eryas sighed lightly, he put his right foot onto the tram…

"BOOM!!!"
