Chapter 7 - Welcome to your new life.

The screens vanished the moment Elena's hand touched my face.

I blinked hard, and fortunately...my vision was clearing, but I found her staring at me with narrowed eyes.

She looked annoyed.... Like I was a piece of equipment that had just malfunctioned.

"What's wrong with you?"

My heart was still hammering. The afterimage of glowing text burned behind my eyelids every time I blinked. "I... my eyes went white for a second. Everything just—" I pressed my palm against my forehead. "Blanked out."

She grabbed my chin, tilting my head back to examine my eyes. Her touch was.... Cold. "Look at me."

I met her gaze. Those crimson eyes searched mine for something...

Sigh, maybe she's looking for signs that I was about to collapse and die on her expensive furniture...I sighed in my heart but I dare not say it out loud.

After a moment, she released me and pressed two fingers against my neck. Checking my pulse.

"Your heart's racing, but that's normal." She pulled back, crossing her arms. "You're not dying.....Just exhausted."

Relief washed through me, but I kept my expression neutral. "I'm sorry, Your Majesty. I don't know wha—"

"Stop." She waved a hand dismissively. "I don't need an explanation. You lasted longer than the last three combined. A moment of weakness is... acceptable."

She moved to her desk and scribbled something on a piece of parchment. The scratching of her pen was the only sound in the room besides my breathing.

When she finished, she pressed her seal into red wax and held the paper out to me. "Give this to the Head Servant. You're under my protection now....you will be staying in the private quarters, it's better than your slob in your village, and anyone who touches you without my permission answers to me."

I took it, the parchment still warm from her hand. "Thank you, Your Majesty."

"Don't thank me yet." Her expression hardened. "You're valuable to me, which means you're a target for everyone else. My servants will know to keep you safe, but beyond that?" She shrugged. "You're on your own. Stay out of trouble. Don't draw attention. And for gods' sake, don't die on me. I paid five thousand gold for you."

The casual mention of my price tag stung more than it should have.

"Now get out," she said, already turning away. "Rest while you can. I'll send for you when I want you again."

I gathered my clothes with shaking hands and dressed quickly. Every muscle in my body ached. When I reached the door, I glanced back.

Elena stood by the window, bathed in moonlight, looking out over the palace grounds. For just a moment, she looked...

Small.....Lonely.

Then she turned her head slightly. "Your still here?"

"A-am sorry your Majesty" I left....almost bolting out of the room.

---

The corridors were darker now. Most of the floating candles had dimmed for the night, leaving only enough light to navigate by.

My legs felt like it's going to give out with each step.

Guards were stationed every twenty feet or so. They watched me pass with knowing smirks.

"This one lasted longer than the last one," one muttered to his partner.

"Give him a week," the other replied. "They always break eventually."

I kept my eyes forward and kept walking as they jested.

The servants' wing was in the eastern section of the palace....far enough from the noble quarters to be out of sight, but close enough to respond quickly when summoned.

The living wood of the palace walls became rougher here. Less polished. The floating lights were dimmer, and more spread out.

I followed the directions I'd been given earlier, clutching the sealed parchment like a lifeline.

Finally, I reached a door marked with an silver nameplate.

Head Attendant.

I knocked on the door.

"Enter." A muffled voice called from inside.

The room beyond was small but organized. Shelves lined with ledgers and supplies.

A desk covered in papers. And behind it sat an elf woman who looked like she was thoroughly tired...with her eyes having some dark circles under them... but they still had a shine in them.

She had her pink hair pulled back in a severe bun, sharp features that might have been beautiful once...

she has a killer bod for sure!!!. I almost broke my calm when I saw her jugs...

They were what I only saw in video games and what I heard my friends say about female characters in something they called 'anime'.

G-CUP?!!.

It was like she sensed my gaze, She looked up from whatever she was writing and studied me with the expression of someone evaluating livestock.

"You're the new one." She said with a deadpan expression.

I held out the parchment. "H-her Majesty said to give you this...ma'am."

Shii, I can't even talk without fumbling my words!!

She took it without a word, broke the seal, and read. Her eyebrows rose slightly....the most emotion I'd seen from her so far.

"Well." She set the paper down. "You lasted longer than the last three. That's... something."

"So I've heard ma'am..."

Her lips twitched. Almost a smile. "I'm Head Attendant Mira. I manage the servants in Her Majesty's wing. As of now, that includes you."

She stood and moved to a cabinet, pulling out a folded set of clothes. "These are yours....they're better quality than standard slave garments. You'll also have private quarters...its small, but your own. Better meals. And this."

She held up a bronze token with Elena's crest stamped on it.

"Keep this on you at all times. It marks you as under Her Majesty's personal protection. Anyone who harms you will answer to her directly." Mira's eyes locked onto mine. "It also makes you a target. Every noble house in this palace watches each other like hawks. You're now a known quantity.....the Queen's newest... 'attendant'. That makes you valuable. And valuable things get stolen, broken, or used as leverage."

She handed me the token and clothes. "Follow me."

I nodded as I followed her....and what I saw surprised me...well, not entirely...I was kinda expecting her to be thicc though, ugh..what am I doing, am in a f##king new world dammit. I had to remind my self about my situation...

We walked through narrow corridors I hadn't seen before....servants' passages that ran parallel to the main halls.

Mira moved with her hips swaying in her free skirt....yeah, you read it right...ITS IN A SKIRT!!! AND ITS STILL SWAYING....'how did I focus? ' you might be wondering...well I kept looking at the walls.

Hmm, this wall is sooo beautiful, look at this wall looking so furnished with purely wood...there's no paint needed here in fact. But I was cut short from my thoughts.

"A word of advice, boy," she said without looking back. "Whatever you see in Her Majesty's chambers, whatever you hear....you forget it the moment you leave. Understand?"

"Yes, ma'am." I answered back without hesitation... years in the military is paying off here too.

"The King has spies everywhere. Servants who report to him, nobles who owe him favors, guards who'd sell their own mothers for advancement. You're only alive right now because 'she' wants you alive. The moment that changes, or the moment you become more trouble than you're worth..." She drew a finger across her throat.

We stopped at a door near the end of a hallway. Mira produced a key from thin air like magic and unlocked it.

Whoa!!!! This time I couldn't hide my expression from her.....but she ignored my reaction....with her signature deadpan expression.

"This is yours. Keep it locked when you're inside....Trust no one. And if Her Majesty summons you, you drop everything and go immediately. Any questions?"

I looked into the small room beyond. A narrow bed. A chest for belongings I didn't even have. A basin for washing.

A single window barely large enough to let in light but all I saw was the moon shining through the window....

"No questions, ma'am." I answered like I was still in my world doing military drills.

Mira studied me for a long moment. Her expression softened slightly....just barely though. "You're polite....That's rare." She turned to leave, then paused. "One more thing. I served her father. The old King, before the tragedy. I watched her grow up. Watched her break. Whatever games you think you're playing, whatever you think this is—" Her voice dropped. "Be careful with her. She's more fragile than she looks."

Before I could respond, she was gone...like vanished... she's no where in the corridor.

Whoa...there's some crazy stuff happening here..

I stepped inside and locked the door behind me.

Alone at last, I collapsed onto the bed.

And then the screens came back.

---

They materialized silently this time. No flash of light to blind me.....Just clean blue and silver text appearing in my vision like they'd always been there.

------

CONQUEST SYSTEM INITIALIZED

[WELCOME, CORY MILLER]

You have died and been reincarnated.

Your previous life ended through forbidden desire.

Your new life begins the same way....

The difference: Now you have power.

------

I sat up slowly, staring at the floating text.

"What are you?" I whispered...."is this some kind of commercial??" I asked with a raised brow.

-----

No, this is not a commercial.

[SYSTEM ANALYSIS]

I am the Conquest System.

I exist to help you survive and thrive in this world.

Through intimate connections, you will gain power.

Through power, you will conquer challenges.

Through conquest, you will build your empire.

[CURRENT STATUS]

-----

A new screen appeared, and suddenly I was looking at something that resembled a video game character sheet.

----

STATUS SCREEN

Failure: Death

-------

I read it three times, trying to process.

"Three percent addiction," I muttered. "That's... not much."

And....what does it mean by addiction?

It answered like it read my mind.

-----

[ADDICTION METER EXPLANATION]

Addiction represents emotional and physical dependency.

It increases through:

- Physical encounters (+1-4% depending on quality)

- Emotional connection (+1-5% for significant moments)

- Time and repeated exposure (compounds over time)

Current analysis: Elena found you surprisingly satisfying.

She will seek repeat encounters.

However, she is not yet emotionally attached.

Recommendation: Build trust and connection beyond physical.

Addiction without Bond Level is unstable.

-----

That made sense. One great night didn't equal love. Or even obsession. Just... interest....even though that's weird as weird can be right now...

Another screen appeared.

-----

[CRITICAL INFORMATION]

You survived your first encounter due to SYSTEM PROTECTION.

Elena Silvermoon possesses a bloodline trait:

LETHAL ATTRACTION

Effect: Drains life force during intimacy

Severity: Fatal to beings below Expert tier

Without system protection, you would have died.

Her previous partners either:

- Died during encounters

- Were permanently weakened

- Were strong enough to resist (extremely rare)

You are the first to THRIVE under her power.

This makes you valuable.

This also makes you a target.

-----

My blood ran cold as I read it again.

"I would have died??"

-----

[CONFIRMED]

Your First round: had 73% chance of death

Multiple rounds: 99.8% chance of death

The system's passive protection saved your life.

Current belief: You are unusually compatible with her bloodline.

This increases her interest and curiosity.

-----

So I was only alive because of this system. And Elena thought I was just... lucky? Or Special somehow?

"What else can you do?" I asked the empty room.

-----

Status tracking (active)

Passive protection from life-draining effects (active)

Basic ability enhancement (active)

[DESIRE POINTS: 750 DP]

Cannot be spent until shop unlocks.

-----

I lay back on the bed, staring at the ceiling. The screens faded to transparency but remained visible if I focused on them.

So this was my life now.

A slave to an elf queen whose body literally killed people during sex.

Surrounded by spies and assassins. Given a countdown timer to survive thirty days in a palace full of people who'd happily watch me die.

And my only advantage was a system that turned sex into a survival mechanism.

"I died once for sleeping with the wrong woman," I said quietly. "Got beaten to death in Tatiana's bedroom. And now I'm here, and the only thing keeping me alive is sleeping with another woman I probably shouldn't be with."

The system chimed softly.

-----

[Flaw distributed]

Your flaw: Attraction to forbidden partners.

Your choice: Accept it or die trying to resist.

[RECOMMENDATION]

You have been given a second chance.

Most reincarnators die within days.

You have advantages they did not.

Survive the 30 days.

Grow stronger.

Build connections.

Conquer your challenges.

Or waste this opportunity and die again.

The choice is yours....

-----

I closed my eyes. Took a deep breath.

Thirty days.

I just had to survive thirty days. Then I'd have access to the shop, stronger abilities, a real chance at building something in this world.

Thirty days of keeping my head down.

Not drawing attention.

Satisfying Elena enough that she kept me around but not so much that the King noticed.

Navigating palace politics I didn't understand. Avoiding assassins. Spies. Jealous nobles.

Thirty days sounded like an eternity.

"Alright," I whispered. "If this is my second chance, I won't waste it. I'll survive. I'll get stronger. And maybe... maybe I'll become something more than just a slave."

The system pulsed once....

-----

[DETERMINATION RECOGNIZED]

[CONQUEST SYSTEM FULLY OPERATIONAL]

Your journey begins now, Cory Miller.

Survive.

Grow.

Conquer.

Welcome to your new life.

-----

The screens faded completely.

I was alone in the dark, exhausted and aching, with a bronze token pressed against my chest and a countdown timer running in the back of my mind.

Twenty-nine days, twenty-three hours.

The clock was ticking.
