Chapter 6 - chapter 6

They led me to an exam room with only 2 desks one for the exam proctor and one for me. I knew which one was mine because it had a freaking mountain of paper on it, and three pencils, by the way paper and pencil are specialty products in the future Hermes and other bureaucrats have to special order it for filing purposes and it takes up at least 30% of planet express budget. Some pencil pushing asshole years ago decided to pass laws that forbid all bureaucratic work form going purely digital after the second apocalypse because of how much information was lost and how many businesses had a legitimate excuse for tax fraud. But since earth trees were protected because of the extinction of the pine tree. You couldn't harvest lumber to make paper or pencils on earth, their was special lumber planets that grew genetically modified trees that grew in days and could be cut down you would think that with the abundance of wood the price would be minimal, no the company that created the genetically modified trees for lumber knows damn well it has the patent on the technology to grow the trees the fastest and they basically have a legal monopoly allowing them to price gouge the hell out of anyone who needs paper and pencils and lumber for building . All of this to say, the massive stack of paper and three pencils on the table probably cost all together over 15 thousand dollars. Which while nothing to me. Is fucking ridiculous for a school who likely has to do this for every student dumb enough to use an ai to cheat in their classes granted I'm taking more classes than the average student but damn. This is incredibly inefficient when one could just use anti cheating software for the test.

Anyways I went to my seat and picked up my pencil. Unlike on my computer it took me 3 hours to complete the all the proficiency tests, and while I was confident in my answers I'm not going to lie I was flagging near the end with my adhd riddled brain. You would think my increased intelligence stat would deal with that but no apparently having high intelligence had fuck all to do with managing adhd. I turned in my tests, and left the room it would take a week to grade by hand. And since a student could create a QR code virus that would force a robot to give them straight As. It wasn't going to be graded by a robot. So, my graduation time just shot up by 2 months. Stupid human limiting anti cheating software ruining my plans I had to finish this up soon, luckily no actually adventures are going to take place for a while. The next adventure if I recall correctly is fear of the bot planet, and bender in that episode has had a chance to use at least 8 different holidays to get off work.id guess that I have about 4 months before the next adventure. So routine deliveries are going to be it for a while. I walk out to the ship where I see Leela finishing up the paperwork to turn over the animals to the biology department and receive our payment. I will always be impressed by how things are so much different here than In the show I mean in the show the professor does this whole mission on his own dollar because he wants to save some animals from an imploding planet. Here the professor actually took the initiative to ensure that we had clearance to enter vergon 6 and had a plan to sell the animals. If I had to guess it would be a mixture of him having to worry about helping the old fry adjust to the future, and the fact that incompetence is funny on a tv show, but in real life profits are needed to keep a business afloat.

"Hey!" I hear a voice call from far away, its recognizable and it makes me internally really happy. Until I turn to my side and I'm damn near bowled over. Its Amy and she's hugging me. I smile. "Did you guys just drop the animals off?" she asked.

"Yep. We just got paid too. Oh, also while I was talking an ungodly amount of dead tree tests, I had some time to think about our date." I said and noticed bender and Leela eaves dropping I shrugged and smiled.

"Oh yeah, what you thinking about?" she asked with a curious but mischievous look on her face.

"Well, I'm going to talk to the professor and try to get everyone a day off tomorrow so I thought we could go to Elzar's." I said with a smile. I had the money to buy a reservation right now with no delay but I figured a day in advanced is the least I can do to not piss off the purple alien.

"Elzar's? Sure, that sounds fun a nice dinner for the two of us." She smiled and then there was a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Well, I Have to get to class see ya!" she said and kissed my cheek. I was shocked gapping like a fish as she ran off.

"Vixen!" I finally managed to get out.

"Ello what's all this then." Bender said as Leela gave me a bombastic side eye.

I rolled my eyes. I didn't owe them an explanation but they are part of my crew and my soon to be minions so I might as well tell them.

"At the party me and Amy kissed. Neither of us are really sure how we feel so we both decided that were going to go on a date and test the waters a bit." I explain and Leela rolls her eye while bender whoops for me.

"That's great fry, Amy's pretty and rich and she probably has other qualities." Bender said trying to cheer me on.

"Bender relationships aren't all about money." Leela replied ready to hit him with the hammer of righteous feminine fury.

"Bender, I think your forgetting I'm rich too." I say with a smirk causing Leela's blood pressure to skyrocket.

"Ahh yes, but you're new rich. She's old rich. She owns a planet you own a penthouse you are not the same." I laugh he's not entirely wrong. Then again, he doesn't know what I have planned. Sooner or later ill buy Venus and terraform that little bitch make it a second earth.

"Either way I'm more interested in the fact she's funny, nice, and pretty down to earth (or mars) once you get to know her." I say with a smile and Leela is rolling her eye.

"Can we go now the sooner we get the ship back the sooner I get to go home. Its already 8 pm New York time." Leela asks obviously still feeling a bit bitter about her love life.

"Sure thing." I say not trying to argue with her as Bender and I decide to head into the ship bender takes his station while I start doing pre-launch checks, its looks like were pretty low on fuel which is weird because we just topped off, and zaps ship shouldn't have been that far out of our planned path to take up that much dark matter." I decided to head to the engine bay, somewhere only me or the professor are allowed to go unless its an emergency like the ship is being driven into a dive bomb with the steering console locked to turn it into an intergalactic ballistic missile to attack the neutral planet. Anyways I head to the dark matter injector to see what the problem is and its instantly apparent someone overclocked the matter compressor to inject more dark matter into the engine than strictly necessary. This has the advantage of allowing us to hit relativistic speeds far faster and even stop on a dime, the downside is as we've experienced running out of dark matter, since the tank can only hold so much dark matter our fuel consumption is far higher than our fuel storage. And unfortunately, mars don't have a dark matter fueling station. Well, they do but its in orbit and we can't get the ship in orbit without at least another ball of dark matter.

I reset the matter compressor to factory spec and then go to tell Leela the news.

"So, you're saying we're stuck her overnight."

"Unless we can get a single ball of dark matter than yes were stuck her till septuple A comes to pick us up." Then something I was hoping for happens the ship drops a couple inches, creaking and groaning as it does. I look over to nibbler in his little sand box and he's pretending to try and burry his dark matter poop. Thank God.

"Leela is it me or did that thing just poop dark matter."

Leela looks it over and scans it with her wrist mounted computer and smiles.

"Its dark matter alright." she says. "It's enough to get us to the fueling station."

I relax as Leela calls Bender over to take the dark matter to the engines, as she initiates launch procedure, soon the ship rises through the air, and goes vertical taking off to the fueling depot. Within 40 minutes were back on earth and after everyone has finished their decontamination shower. It comes time to leave. Me however I head up to the professor's office in hopes he's still there we haven't had a talk since after the series has landed incident. With a knock on his door, I hear him yell

"Come in fry." Weird how he knows its me he must have a camera somewhere.

"Hey professor I've come to discuss a few things about the company I wanted to recommend and run by you."

"I'm always happy to listen to your fry, your upgrades to the ship were very useful from what I heard from Leela's mission report." He giggles a bit. It seems even he picked up on what happened between her and zap brannigan.

"Well, I've thought of a few things but first things first. I told everyone id have a conversation with you about having Tuesday off. I checked the delivery manifest we don't have one tomorrow." The professors' eyes widen at first at the thought of a company wide day off, but then after my explanation he decides its better than paying everyone to sit around.

"Alright fry we can do an off day tomorrow. I'm sure you want time to prepare for your date with Amy." He says with a sly smile. Damn this old man is better informed than I would assume from his age and his personality in the show.

"Thanks, the next order of business is doctor zoidburg, have you given any thought to having him actually head to mars u for medical classes? Or maybe hiring someone else to be the company doctor and having zoidburg become his assistant?" this was a difficult ask that I had brought up in our last meeting because I know what zoidburg means to the professor. It was weird to me he allowed zoidburg to live in the dumpster but apparently the professor had told zoidburg multiple times he was welcome to live in the planet express building but zoidburg turned him down every time. And apparently zoidburg pay couldn't be raised to the level an actually company doctor would be paid because he didn't have the credentials and if it came out that he was being paid to be a staff doctor the company would have to pay a fine. Right now, he's hired on as a xenobiology consultant something he's actually rather good at.

"I brought it up with zoidburg he has said he's willing to take the classes at mars university to become a doctor by earth standards. Also, you don't have to worry about paying the company will handle that." That was good actually I don't want to hemorrhage to much money I don't have a way to make it back yet. Truthfully, I needed a doctor for my plans but that doctor didn't have to be zoidburg.

"Okay he should start sometime in the next month." I said and the professor nodded. "Next order of business, have you given any thought to expanded the crew to include a couple more ships?" I was planning to outbid mom for a couple more contracts to handle but the problem is one ship is not enough to meet demand of even 3 dedicated contracts. I've still got 4.2 billion left so I can afford to sponsor some renovations to the building, 14 more ships, and a year's salary for 42 people. It would all only equal up to 16 million which was no problem for me I would still have 4.2 billion dollars on the leaner side of the .2 but still enough.

"I've had a conversation with Hermes. He put together the expansion plan you talk about and says it would take 16 million to make it work. But he has more than enough contracts to make bids on that would start at the end of this fiscal quarter.

"So, we would have 2 months to make the renovations build the ships and hire the crew."

"Yes that would be about the long and skinny of it. We could do it, but planet express doesn't have the money to expand like that."

"Luckily I have the money and am willing to make the investment than." Professor Farnsworth looks at me calculatingly and then asks the 16-million-dollar question.

"What do you want for the money fry." He says with a deadpan expression and I give a sly smile.

"Simple I want 30% of your stock."

"I already gave every employee 10% as a sign on giving your if I gave you 30% you would be the majority shareholder. I would only own 20 percent stock in my own company." The professor own 50% of the company to keep controlling intrest. Luckily scruffy hasn't begun buying up shares like crazy. So he doesn't even have a single share yet. Which is crazy because the professor didn't have a single share to make a vote in that episode which means that scruffy bought all of the professor's shares likely promising to keep him as the ceo so he can keep drawing money for his research. Which makes it worse that the scruffy voted professor out of the CEO position in the future stock episode.

"Professor I'm going to be blunt. You're not invested enough in planet express outside of a way to gain funds for your research. That's not necessarily a bad thing because that's what you founded the company for anyways, but I see a vision where planet express stands on top as not just the greatest package delivery service in the world but also the forerunners in technology, and military might." I said trying my best to explain my dream to the professor we're vastly different while the professor wants to understand how the world works and is fine as long as the company makes enough money for his research, I'm different I want to effect change I want to make a difference, I want to leave a mark, I want to shine brighter than any star and take out more with my supernova.

"Okay fry." The professor says I can feel he wants to say more so I let him speak it takes him a few minutes but he continues. "Maybe, I'm a bit too old to lead a company and conduct my research at the same time. If you want to be the majority shareholder and CEO, I won't stop you I'll sign over my shares and have Hermes, put in the calls for the expansion, the new hires, and the new contracts. Then after everything is taken care of ill step down as CEO, and it will be you."

Everything is going according to plan. The old fry was too stupid to take advantage of the opportunities gifted to him in the future, but I'm not. I have everything I need to start my meteoric rise to the top. One thing I'm not going to do though is give up on going to space as often as possible for as many adventures as possible I need a patsy to put in the CEO position who will listen to my every word, but is smart enough to run the company in emergencies while I'm indisposed. I've got just the guy.
