The goddess opened her palm and fourteen stars arose out of it. They all floated towards Asher, swirling and shimmering before they assembled before him.
Asher didn't understand what was happening, so he turned at the goddess for an answer which its question was written within his eyes.
"These are starlights, the very essence that keeps the world away from chaos and dismay bestowed on humanity in diverse dimensions by the creator.
In each dimension, five humans are bestowed with this light, to guard and protect their dimensions from being plunged into chaos. They are called the chosen and I was one…"
"Why haven't you turned into a statue yet if you were once one of the chosen?" Asher suddenly asked.
The goddess paused, a look of surprise settling on her face.
"How do you know this?" She asked him.
"I just took a random guess. The first of every chosen are these statues here, but you're still alive in your astral form because your light is still alive and it's safe to assume that you are the last hope for their resuscitation."
"You know quite a lot already and now that you know this, let it out."
"Let what out?" Asher asked, confused.
He had barely finished speaking when he let out a loud gasp. For a moment, Asher felt his astral form being pushed out of his physical form.
That little shift brought extremely excruciating pain to his being, but it all ended in a flash as a blinding star swirled out of him.
The starlight that forced its way out of Asher's body matched with one of the fourteen stats the goddess had summoned and both stars merged as one before settling into him again.

"This– a system?" Asher said with bewilderment. "And my class-job is a necromancer?" He continued, still confused.
The goddess was also taken by surprise as she wasn't expecting his class-job to be necromancy as it could have been a summoner, but she handled her emotions very well.
"As an anomaly, I do not know the depth of your powers, but now you are one of us, Asher."
"What happens to you now? And your name, you never told me that yet."
"My name is goddess Aethera and I am your guardian from now till the end of your days. Whatever happens from now is your destiny and you have to embrace it, Asher." Goddess Aethera said.
"Wait…" Asher tried to call after her, but she had drifted into nothing just like she had arrived.
***
The next time Asher opened his eyes, he was already in front of the counselling room.
'Evergreen Academy.' He thought to himself, the usual air the buildings conveyed breathing through his skin.
A little surprised, but the twist on the door knob before him brought him back. Five and Ivan had just been sent out and now, it was his turn for questioning.
As both of his friends saw him standing outside, they both paused, a little taken aback by his seemingly daunting presence, but Five spoke up, hiding her trembling voice perfectly.
"It wasn't you, Asher." She said,
Ivan was at a loss for words and all he could do was give Asher's shoulder a little nudge.
"We'll be waiting at our usual spot." Ivan said with a low grin.
Asher gave them a little nod and headed in. The tension in the room was palpable as Asher walked in.
There were four people in the room. Mr. Landon, the physical education teacher, was standing beside Rylan whose wound had been tendered already.
An old man was sitting in a chair by the window, his back very straight with his hands folded in front of him.
A black stick rested against his chair, but he hadn't come alone. A slim, pale skinned man was sitting in one of the office lounges opposite the old man.
He was obviously the younger of the two with a slight resemblance to the devil's wannabe incarnate who was sitting but still fuming at his presence— Rylan.
"I'm Orion Darkstar and this is my partner, he's without a name, but we call him Llyord and as you must have assumed, yes, Rylan is my brother." Orion introduced like he had just read Asher's mind like a book.
Asher raised an eyebrow, the scene from that morning replaying in his head. It was him, the one who had sped past him to save Rylan from the chandelier was actually Orion.
It all made sense to him now. Orion had also been in the car that brought Rylan to school that morning, but for what reason he had come for, he wasn't sure, not like he cares anyway.
Rylan was just lucky and he hoped he would run out of luck next time.
