Chapter 6 - Cooking and Skills (2)

I want to help my father, but first, I need to understand the details of how my talent works. Additionally, there is the matter of discovering how my first skill functions, and possibly even the second skill.

The first one states that I have access to a Farm, which lies in a separate dimension that I alone can access. The issue was whether I could enter the place or if it worked like a game panel, where crops were raised and collected when ripe.

I need to check that, and if it's a dimension that I can enter, can I also bring others? It can become a safe place in emergencies. I need to check all the details regarding that.

As for the second skill, I need to determine whether it can only be used for the Heavenly Farm or any farm in the world.

If it works everywhere, the amount of crop produce I could get would be enormous. Food would be everywhere in the future to the point that there might not be any space for us to live in the house.

The skill description said that the skill would increase the growth rate by 10%. It means the number of days that the crop was originally supposed to take would be reduced by 10%.

At first, it would take some time, but as time goes on, there would be a lot of food, and if it works even outside, then the produce we would get would increase significantly.

We...I need to make proper plans to deal with that.

"So, should we start testing how your talent works exactly?" Lara spoke.

"Yes, but as your brother said, he sucks at cooking. If the meal has to be prepared entrely by him, then it means he a lot of work to do", Mom said.

I understood what she was trying to say. I need to start at the basics; if I had to cook a meal from scratch, which would most likely be the case.

I mean, whether I had to chop the ingredients or not, but I may have to cook the meal entirely afterwards. If not, how can it be considered something that I created? Perhaps I need to chop the vegetables myself. It is part of cooking after all.

We have to find it, which we would, even though it may take some time.

"Well, I have already made breakfast for us. Therefore, testing will have to wait for some time. Though the faster we know how it works, the better it might be, but we lack ingredients at the moment to waste", Mom spoke.

What she said was true.

At that time, we had a house and a small farm, where we grew our own food. The profits are almost negligible. Therefore, we cannot continue to waste food materials. We can't afford to.

"Yeah, Ray, you should work with Mom on lunch later on. It would be an experiment on how your talent works. So, no need to stress yourself even if ot fails", Dad assured me.

I merely nodded.

The chances of failing are high.

I felt that because the Talent description implied that the effects would depend on me and the ingredients, not OR, but AND. It means that if we use the wrong ingredients, then we get nothing.

Additionally, this is a world governed by Mana, and in Alchemy, the ingredients are typically Beast parts or Herbs that are infused with Mana.

In the same way, I think that I need to use Mana-infused ingredients to create the effects. We shall see whether that would be the case or not.

---

I returned to my room after having breakfast. Father and Mother went to the Farm, and Lara went outside for work too.

I remained at home this morning to test my skills. Skills like mine can't be shown to the outside world. I could only share something like this with those I can trust. For now, that list contained only my family.

I have a few friends, but there are a few things that I can't reveal to even them, at least not until they prove their trustworthiness.

There are many scenarios where people who were friendly at a young age would betray each other due to greed.

There are such instances even among family, but they are at least connected by blood, while others are not. They have their own families and their own obligations.

Anyway, I can deal with that later on. Now, let's check my first skill and maybe even my second skill.

I brought a few seeds from Mother. Some were common vegetables, such as cabbage and Potatoes, while others were seeds for Herbs.

I wanted to see what I can plant here and what I can't.

The skill only said that it's a farm, but nowhere was it described that I can only plant common vegetables. I want to try almost everything. I even brought some seeds to plant some fruit trees.

Let's take a look at what this is all about.

[Heavenly Farm]

I activated the skill, and a portal came into existence.

To activate the skill, one doesn't need to chant the skill name out loud. One can still use it when they are intended to use the skill and think about it.

It was said that during fights, one's mind would be overwhelmed, so shouting out loudly would let them concentrate on the skill that they want to use. It was why many would utter the skill names out in a battle, even if that could give the enemy a chance to nullify the skill with something that could negate the skill.

It could be a skill or an artifact.

The portal turned my entire room green, thanks to the bright green light it constantly emitted.

I entered the portal without wasting a second. As much as I would like to admire its beauty and perhaps even study it, now is not the time. I can certainly do so later on, when I understand Space a bit.

In all novels, it was described that portals are dangerous. Poking them without having any knowledge is risky, and I am not an idiot MC who would experiment inside the house and blow up the house.

---

A second later, I arrived in an empty place.

All I can say is, Wow, just wow.
