Chapter 12 - KRYPT-Ch.12: Running Away from Home

Matthew Atkinson

London

Atkinson family.

After saying farewell to the admission staff of the University of Oxford, the three members of the Atkinson family returned to the house.

They looked at the admission letter on the table in silence. After a long time, it was his mother, Serena, who broke the silence first.

"That girl has a conscience!"

His father, William's, expression changed, and he said in a deep voice, "She has a conscience, and she also means well, but ends up doing something bad!!"

"What do you mean?" Serena was puzzled. "Hasn't there been news for a long time that all supernatural universities will no longer accept students with useless talents? Now that a prestigious school like the University of Oxford has accepted my son, isn't that a good thing?"

William's face had turned ugly.

Seeing that his wife hadn't reacted yet, he said, "The University of Oxford is a prestigious school. Let me ask you, according to admission standards, do students who get into the University of Oxford have exceptional talent and abilities?"

"Yeah! What's wrong with that..."

Having said this, Serena's face immediately changed.

She was an intelligent person, and after her husband reminded her, she immediately realized the problem.

"You mean, after entering the University of Oxford, no one will want to team up with my son?"

William nodded, his expression growing increasingly grim. "They're all gifted individuals, and they definitely don't want to team up with someone with a useless talent... Then, that brat will be forced to travel into the Supernatural Realm and adventure on his own!"

Serena's face turned pale in an instant. The Supernatural Realm's rules and requirements have long been known to everyone.

She had also heard about the dangers of the supernatural realm.

At most layers, it was okay to have teammates to support each other, but if you went in alone, the risk would definitely increase several times.

After all, people needed to sleep! However, some supernatural realm layers would take a considerable amount of time to complete.

In the supernatural realm, there would be a lot of work to be done before the team could complete the mission and return. How could one person endure all the workload alone without the help of teammates?

What would you do if someone or something attacked you while you were sleeping?

If Matthew's previous trip to the supernatural realm was a life-or-death experience, then now, it was a suicide mission!

Thinking of this, Serena became anxious.

"William, what should we do?"

William did not answer. He also didn't know what to do.

Serena seemed to have thought of something and immediately said, "Why not let that girl, Natalie, team up with our son and be responsible for protecting him? My silly son even gave her the Flame-Flame Fruit, so it's not too much to ask her to protect him, right?"

"What are you thinking?" William couldn't help but ask, "Do you think everyone is as stupid as this brat?"

Matthew: "…"

He was offended.

"How could someone be willing to sacrifice their future to protect him?" William continued, "To put it another way, even if the Russell girl is willing to do this, Magister Russell will definitely not agree!"

"Why? That Flame-Flame Fruit originally belonged to my son." Serena protested, "Matthew gave such a valuable item to his daughter. Why can't he let her protect my son?"

"Because he is Magister Russell, he has the power and resources to shut our family up easily!"

William's words were heartbreaking, but they were the truth.

He sighed and said, "If you want to blame someone, you can only blame our son for being so naive. He willingly gave away rare treasure without asking for anything in return!"

Hearing this, Serena could no longer bear it. She walked to Matthew angrily and slapped his arm a few times.

"How could you be so stupid? Were you daydreaming? What should we do now..."

After just a few hits, his mother burst into tears.

Seeing his mother in this state, Matthew felt a little uncomfortable.

Although he was very confident that even if he entered the supernatural realm alone a month later, with his attributes at that time, he would be able to blow up all the monsters and complete any mission in the supernatural realm!

But no one would believe that! Maybe his parents would even think that he was mentally ill!

So Matthew could only remain silent.

His parents' concern deeply touched him, but he also felt a little overwhelmed...

"Then let's not send our son!" Serena wiped her tears and said angrily, "We don't care about that lousy University of Oxford, and we don't want the hypocrisy of the Russell family."

William shook his head. "We have to send him. The University of Oxford boasts many renowned teachers and offers numerous benefits. Maybe this silly boy can learn something and have a better chance of survival in the supernatural realm."

"And if he doesn't go to the University of Oxford, with his useless ability, he won't be able to find teammates even if he spends money, and the result will be the same."

After a pause, William checked the time and suddenly said, "Not only do we have to send him, but we have to send him now!"

He turned his gaze to Matthew and said in an ominous tone, "Stinky boy, arrange your ticket now, book a ticket for this evening, then go pack your things, and I'll take you to the station later."

"No!" Serena immediately refused. "Why are you chasing Matthew away? Son, ignore him. Stay at home with me for the next few days and go to college on your last day!"

Serena was afraid that after this separation, she would never see her son again...

William looked at his wife's reluctant and desperate eyes, and his heart ached. He gritted his teeth and said, "You know the old man's temper. When he comes back from the hospital, this brat will inevitably suffer a beating. Do you want to see him punished?"

Only then did Serena understand her husband's intention.

She was actually not this slow. But today she was so worried that she completely lost her composure, and her usual wisdom was utterly out of control.

"Matthew! Your life is so hard..." Serena hugged Matthew and burst into tears.

'Mum! I don't think I'm doing badly…'

Seeing his mother's sad face, Matthew felt a deep sense of heartbreak and guilt.

To be honest, the current situation was entirely his fault.

"Mum, don't worry! I will be fine. I promise I will be able to come back safely!"

He said in a deep voice.

Now his mood was bad, and he desperately needed to vent it.

He hoped that in a month, the monsters in the supernatural realm could help him to vent his bad mood...

Half an hour later.

William drove his son to the train station himself. Serena didn't come to see him off.

She was afraid that she would not be able to control herself and would burst into tears at the station.

"Take care of yourself out there!"

William looked at his son with a complicated expression and said, "Don't forget, your mother is still waiting for you to come home!"

"Don't worry, Dad! I will definitely come back." Matthew agreed solemnly.

Although he had only been here for less than a day, he felt the deep love of his parents for him. And he didn't want to upset or worry them any further.

William didn't say anything else. He patted Matthew on the shoulder and drove away.

After watching his father leave, Matthew passed through security and entered the station.

There was still about half an hour before departure.

He found a place to sit down in the station, took out his cell phone, and surfed the internet to pass the time.

Smartphones also naturally exist in this world, and they are even more advanced than those on Earth.

Matthew is currently using a mainstream smartphone on the market, which offers excellent performance, and naturally, it didn't lag when browsing the Internet.

When he opened the news page, his eyes immediately focused!

{Is this true love? Even the Flame-Flame Fruit can be given away.}

Such a "shocking" news headline was currently ranked first on the national hot search news list!
