Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3: Caught in the heat.

Lena stood by Jax's bed, pulling on her jeans, her body still humming from their morning. His faded band shirt hung loose on her, smelling of him—wood, musk, and sex. The sheets were a mess, tangled from their slow, deep lovemaking. Her thighs ached, her lips swollen from his kisses. Sunlight poured through the window, warming the brick walls of his apartment. She glanced at Jax, sprawled naked on the bed, tattoos gleaming on his chest. His eyes watched her, lazy but hungry, like he could pull her back for more.

"Leaving already?" he asked, voice rough. He propped up on one elbow, muscles flexing, cock half-hard against his thigh.

Lena's body tingled, wanting to climb back in. "Gotta go," she said, smiling. "Work tomorrow. Real life's calling."

He sat up, sheets falling low. "Real life's overrated, stay." His grin was wicked, but his eyes were soft, like he meant more than another round.

She laughed, zipping her jeans. "Tempting. But I need clean clothes, and a shower."

"Shower here," he said, standing. He walked over, naked and shameless, hands sliding to her hips. "With me." His lips brushed her ear, sending shivers down her spine.

Her breath hitched. His body pressed close, hard and warm. She felt him against her, ready again. "Jax," she whispered, hands on his chest, tracing a dragon tattoo. "You're trouble."

"You love it, don't act like you don't love this " he murmured, kissing her neck, slow and hot. His teeth grazed her skin, making her moan softly.

Her phone buzzed on the counter, loud and sharp. She froze, pulled back. Jax groaned, stepping away, giving her space. She grabbed the phone, heart sinking when she saw the name: Sarah.

She answered. "Hey, Sar—"

"Where the hell are you?" Sarah's voice was loud, pissed. "You didn't come home last night! Why didn't you call?"

Lena winced, holding the phone away. Jax raised an eyebrow, leaning against the counter, arms crossed, watching her. "Babes, calm down," Lena said. "I'll be home soon. It rained hard yesterday, so I crashed at a friend's place."

Sarah's voice sharpened. "So you're keeping other friends now, right? Just get back home, Lena!"

Lena sighed, rubbing her forehead. "Okay, okay. I'm coming. Give me an hour." She hung up, tossing the phone down. Her stomach twisted. Sarah was her best friend, her roommate, always there when guys let her down. But explaining Jax? That felt… complicated.

"Everything okay?" Jax asked, stepping closer. His hand touched her arm, warm and steady.

"Yeah," she said, but her voice was tight. "My roommate's freaking out. She's worried."

He nodded, eyes searching hers. "You don't sound happy to go."

She looked at him, heart racing. His bare skin, the way he stood so close—it made her want to stay, to forget the world. "It's not that. Just… Sarah's protective. And this—" She gestured between them. "This is new and really Intense."

Jax's hand slid to her face, thumb brushing her cheek. "Intense is good," he said, voice low. "You feel it too, right?"

She swallowed, nodding. "Yeah. Too much, maybe."

He kissed her, soft at first, then deeper. His tongue slipped in, tasting her, making her knees weak. She grabbed his shoulders, pulling him closer. His hands roamed, sliding under her shirt, fingers grazing her bra. Her nipples hardened, body begging for more.

"Stay a bit," he whispered against her lips. "Just a bit."

She groaned, half-laughing. "You're gonna make me late."

"Worth it," he said, lifting her onto the counter. Her jeans were tight, but his fingers popped the button open, tugging them down. She kicked them off, heart pounding. His hands spread her thighs, finding her underwear, already damp.

"Fuck, Lena," he growled, pulling the fabric aside. His fingers slid inside, slow, then faster. She gasped, head back, gripping his arms. His thumb circled her clit, steady and firm, building heat fast.

"Jax," she moaned, hips rocking. Her body tightened, pleasure curling tight. His lips found her neck, sucking hard, leaving a mark—hickey. She didn't care. All she felt was him, his fingers, his breath, his want.

"Cumming now? Hun ," he asked, moaning, eyes locked on hers.

Yes baby, she said, She cummed, hard and fast. Her body shook, a loud cry escaping. Pleasure crashed through her, leaving her breathless, clinging to him. He kissed her, swallowing her moans, fingers slowing but not stopping until she trembled.

He pulled back, grinning, licking his fingers. "Now you can go," he teased.

Lena laughed, shaky, fixing her clothes. "You're bad."

"And you like it," he said, kissing her forehead, soft this time. Her heart flipped, scary and warm.

I need to freshen up, well nevermind, I'd just do that at home.

She grabbed her phone, bag, and shoes, legs still wobbly. Jax watched, pulling on boxers, looking too good to leave. He collected her phone from her and added himself up on snap."Text me when you're home," he said handing over the phone back . "Wanna see you again. Soon." She nodded, smiling. "Deal."

Downstairs, the bookstore was quiet, just the hum of rain fading outside. Lena stepped into the street, air cool on her flushed skin. Her body buzzed, but her mind spun. Sarah's call, her anger—it felt like a rope pulling her back to reality. Jax was a storm, wild and free, but Sarah was her anchor, her safe place. Could she have both?

She hailed a cab, heart heavy but full. Jax's touch lingered—his hands, his lips, the way he looked at her like she was everything. She wanted more, but Sarah's voice echoed. Just get back home.

As the cab drove, Lena stared out the window, city lights blurring. Her phone buzzed—Jax. A text: My little trouble, can't wait for more of you. She smiled, warmth spreading. Whatever this was, it wasn't over. Not by a long shot.
