Chapter 20: "Personal room"

~Infirmary~

The infirmary was a luxurious room that rivaled any high-end hospital. The walls were painted a soothing shade of light blue, and the floors were made of polished marble. Everyroom was equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment, and a team of skilled nurses and doctors were always on hand to provide top-notch care. The room was well-lit, with soft lighting that added to the calming atmosphere.

When they had come earlier, she was asked to bring out her card, the receptionist gasped after she saw the VIP card and immediately assigned her to her own personal room. It was the card she was given in the morning at the entrance, so I really I'm a VIP student, Nell smiled at the realisation. She asked Tris if the two had their own room and she nooded, of course they had.To attend this school u would either be wealthy or be on scholarship or u can attend if only you can afford the requirements.

Nelly hissed in pain as Tris placed a cold compress on her cheek. "I'm sorry, Nelly," Tris apologized, her voice filled with concern. "I feel so guilty about you taking that slap for me."

Nelly's heart ached at the sight of Tris's tears. She knew Tris was feeling guilty, and she wanted to reassure her that everything was okay. "It's okay, Tris," Nelly said, trying to smile. "I'm just glad I was there to take the slap for you."

The two girls sat in silence for a moment, the only sound being the beeping of the medical equipment. Nelly's eyes wandered around the room, taking in the comfortable furnishings and the large window that let in plenty of natural light. She noticed a small table beside the bed, with a vase of fresh flowers on it. It was a lovely touch, and it added to the overall sense of luxury and comfort.

When Tris spoke, her voice was barely above a whisper. "I'm so sorry, Nelly. I feel like it's all my fault." Nelly took the compress from Tris's hand and placed it on the small table beside them. She held Tris's hand with her left hand and pointed to her cheek with her right. "Is it swollen or red?" she asked, trying to distract Tris from her worries.

Tris shook her head, and Nelly smiled weakly. "Don't blame yourself, okay?" she said, her voice soft. "I'm just glad I could help." Tris's face was etched with concern, and Nelly's heart ached. She couldn't take it anymore and pulled Tris into a hug.

As they hugged, Nelly felt a sense of comfort and security. She had never felt this way about anyone before, and it was both exhilarating and terrifying. She knew she had to be careful, but for now, she just wanted to enjoy the moment.

After a while, they pulled back, and Tris wiped away Nelly's tears. "I thought you are going to stay like this forever," a deep voice said, breaking the silence.

They turned to see Gabriella standing at the entrance of the room, her eyes fixed on her phone as she typed away. Nelly couldn't help but stare at the way Gabriella's fingers moved swiftly across the screen. She looked up, catching Nelly's gaze, and raised an eyebrow. "Can we leave now?" she asked, her voice cool.

Tris was busy with her bag, but Nelly just nodded, still feeling a bit dazed. "Yes, let's go," Tris said, shouldering her bag. "I've already sent food to the hostel. You can just warm it up, Gabriella said and left her sight.

As they left the infirmary, Nelly couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. She was glad to be out of the hospital-like setting like she was some sick person. But as she walked alongside Tris and Gabriella, she couldn't shake off the feeling that something had changed between them. She wasn't sure what it was, but she was certain something was off.

Gabriella led the way, her long strides eating up the distance. Tris walked beside Nelly, her eyes occasionally flicking to her face to check on her. Nelly smiled back at her, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Tris. She was glad she had taken the slap for Tris, and she knew she would do it again in a heartbeat.

As they approached the hostel, Nelly's stomach growled with hunger and Tris burst out laughter. Nell instantly covered her stomach with her hands. She was really hungry and disappointed she couldn't eat in the canteen but she was looking forward to warming up the food Gabriella had sent over. Maybe they could eat together, and she could thank Tris and Gabriella properly for taking care of her. The thought made her feel happy, and she quickened her pace, her eyes fixed on Tris's back.
