Chapter 2 - The Orphanage [1]

"Mark, get back here!" Torren yelled at him, causing the rest of the children surrounding them to burst out laughing.

Mark, the target of the outburst, stopped backing away and let a mischievous grin spread across his face. He glanced at Torren, who was now visibly upset.

"T-Torren, calm down, it was just a joke. I meant no Harm! You being this enraged at my little joke completely proves my point."

"And what was your point, Mark? You just exposed my crush on Alyssia in front of everyone!"

"YOU CALL THAT A JOKE!"

Mark, who was starting to feel a little nervous, began backing away fearfully.

"Ah, but Torren, everyone else laughed. It's no big deal. Besides, Alyssia and her friends probably knew already."

Torren, who had been previously fuming, was now entirely red - almost tomato-like. That is, if anyone dared to say anything. Torren was rather known for his fierce temper after all.

Suddenly, a clear, kind voice rang out across the orphanage garden.

"Now, now, kids, let's not fight at this hour; it is dinner time after all, hurry up and move to the mess hall," Sister Terria calmly said.

Torren glared at Mark and muttered under his breath, 'tsk lucky bastard'

Outside of the Orphanage.

A small, wiry child with molten gold eyes stood outside its humble gate. Anybody could infer that this child was around the age of 12. He currently has the biggest smile he could muster on his face.

"Brothers and Sisters, I am back!"

Six figures—three boys and three girls—drifted toward the child, their faces softening as warm smiles slowly bloomed across their lips.

"Ah, Aly, welcome back. I hope Mari wasn't too harsh on you?" The sweet voice came from the girl dressed in a pure white dress. Her figure was dazzling and bright. Her pupils were uncannily white. She was pure, untainted, and if a priest saw her, they would undeniably say she was holy. Her name was Aur.

"Oh, calm down, sis, Mari would never do that. You know how big of a sof-kheeuuk." The man dressed in black suddenly clutched his stomach tightly, as blood slowly started running down from his nose.

"Mar-i, w-hy, my own sister," he muttered in pain.

"Shut up, Vey, bloody idiot."

The man in black, at this point, almost had tears in his eyes. Vey himself was a strange sight. He was dressed in a silver gown with streaks of midnight blue running across his clothes. His eyes, unlike Aur's, were a deep indigo, and upon closer glance, one could see streaks of silver hidden amongst them. It was fair to say he had an air of mystery around him. Although he often acted the fool.

Aly, who was now almost on the verge of passing out, slowly made his way to Vey and patted his back to comfort the poor soul. "Well, Vey, that's what you get for messing with Mari," a woman softly muttered in an almost depressing tone. She, however, did not look as regal or majestic as Vey and Aur. She was dressed in a tattered black gown, and she could almost pass as a beggar. However, just like the rest of them (well, most of them), she was beautiful. With silky black hair cascading down towards her back, she was ethereal. Her face was cold with an aloof look to it. And perhaps the most frightening part of her was her eyes. It was black. Nothing else but black. She was the oldest of them all, and one could say she was the leader of this... family. Her family. Her name was Nyth.

The remaining two were the quietest of the seven. However, this was quite the norm for them, as they were the two bookworms of the family. Their names were Eryn and Oro, and unlike the rest of the family, their appearances were more normal. They preferred casual clothes and thus looked pretty ordinary, but their eyes were a different story. Eryn had an eye that was green and almost looked like an emerald, whilst her other eye was a beautiful cyan. Although she was wearing casual clothes, she was nearly as attractive as Nyth. Oro, on the other hand, was a burly, muscular man with golden locks of hair. His clothes could not hide his muscular body, and he had a sort of... shameless look on his face. His eyes, just like the rest of them, were a different color. His eyes were grey, and that might seem the most normal; however, one could see a faint tinge of fiery orange in them.

This was the family of young Aly, His only family. The family that he has been with from the very beginning. They were odd. Very odd. Almost eerie? And sometimes they didn't seem human. Hell, they struggled even to act human. Aly, as innocent and... mad as he was, never noticed it. Or perhaps he didn't want to. After all, who wishes to see the cracks in those they love? And Aly loved them to death. They were his family after all.

Nyth turned lethargically towards Aly and suddenly yelled. "We're going to be late for dinner! Move it, Aly, it's chow time!" Nyth's icy expression melted into one of pure hunger as she sprinted toward the mess hall. The others followed in a rush, and Aly could only shake his head before racing after them.
