I heard a whisper
coming from John's room. Curious, I went back to take a look. As I entered the
room, I was shocked to see a woman standing there.
"Who are…you?" I stuttered
The woman, introduced herself as Sophie, she turned to
me with a questioning gaze. "What
are you doing here?" Sophie asked, her voice soft. "Didn't John tell
you to leave?"
My eyes narrowed, my
mind racing. "Who are you?" I demanded. "How did you get in here
without me noticing?"
Sophie smiled, seemingly amused by my question. "I've
been here for a while," she said, her voice sounded with mystery. "I've
been watching you, and I must say, I'm impressed on how you make John's grandfather
insult him"
My eyes narrowed, my
mind racing with questions, and my face filled with surprise."Who
are you?" I repeated, my voice firm. "And how did you get in
here?"
Sophie chuckled, the sound sending a shake down Emily's
spine. "My name is Sophie, as I said earlier," she replied. "And
as for how I got in...let's just say I have my ways."
I took a quick glance at John, but to my surprise he was
relaxed and he didn't even say a word
I then locked my eyes
onto Sophie's, searching for any sign of deception. But Sophie's gaze
remained steady, her eyes sparkling with amusement.
I quickly rushed downstairs, my heart racing. I wanted to escape John's behavior and the strange woman, Sophie. But
before she could reach the front door, John grabbed my wrist and turn me around
to his direction.
John's face was inches from mine, his eyes filled with
anger. "Where do you think you're going to?" he asked. I struggled, but
John's grip was too strong. He pulled me closer, his breath hot against my ear.
"If you try to mention Sophie to anyone, you'll regret
it," he whispered. "And if you tell anyone about Sophie, no one will
believe you." John's eyes seemed to pierce through my soul, his expression
filled with malice.
"I'll make everyone think you're crazy," he
continued, his voice sounded with evil. "You'll be stuck here, with no one
to help you"
I hesitated for a moment, weighing my options. But John's
grip on my wrist was unbearable, I nodded reluctantly, agreeing to be quiet
about Sophie.
John's face twisted into a cruel smile. "You've made a
good choice," he whispered, his eyes sparkling with triumph. He began to
drag me towards my room, but he was
interrupted by the sound of his grandfather's voice, coming from downstairs.
John's head rushed up, his eyes flashing with alarm. He
quickly released my wrist and rushed
back to his room, slamming the door shut behind him.
~~In John's room
"Hide, Sophie!" John's voice was smooth but urgent.
"My grandfather's here."
But Sophie refused to hide. "I'm tired of being your
secret, John," she said, her voice firm and resolute. "I love you,
and I want your grandfather to see me. I want to be recognized."
John's voice was low and desperate. "Now's not the
right time, Sophie."
Sophie's eyes locked onto John's, her expression rebellious
. But before Sophie could say another word, Emily burst into the room, Her face pale and worried.
"John, your grandfather is coming!" I exclaimed,
my voice urgent. "He's coming upstairs!"
John's eyes faced towards mine, his face tightening with
anxiety. He quickly stepped over to Sophie, grabbing her arm and pulling her
towards the closet.
"Hide Sophie, now!" he whispered, his voice low and desperate
Sophie refused to hide in the closet. She stood her ground,
and John tried to lift her up. But Sophie was strong-willed and struggled to
break free. John's grandfather voice was getting louder and more impatient, so
John quickly picked Sophie up and tried to put her in the closet. Sophie kept
fighting, kicking and punching, but John finally managed to get her inside.
Just then, John's grandfather shouted, "JOHN! OPEN THE
DOOR! ARE YOU IN THERE?" He tried to turn the door handle, but John had
locked it. John looked at me, who was watching with scared eyes, and whispered,
"Stay calm. Don't let my grandfather suspect anything." I nodded, and John
turned to face the door with a calm expression.
"Yes, grandfather?" John called out, trying to
sound casual. "What's going on?" But his father was angry and
shouted, "OPEN THE DOOR NOW!"
As John opened the door, his grandfather's face changed from
angry to surprised. "Why did it take you so long to open the door?"
he asked roughly.
Then, his eyes looked around the room and saw me, who was
standing still. "Oh, you're here," he said in a mocking tone.
"It's great that you guys can hang out without fighting, right?"
Just then, a soft noise came from the closet. Sophie had
moved a little, making a quiet sound.
His grandfather's head turned quickly towards the closet.
"What was that? Who made that noise?" he asked loudly.
John felt worried as his grandfather's eyes became
suspicious. "I think it came from...the closet," John grandfather said quietly.
He quickly walked towards the closet and grabbed the door
handle. He pulled it open, and the door creaked loudly...
