Chapter 2 - lie

Yun glanced around first to see if someone suspicious was there. Yun knew that this way he wouldn't find the demon. Just then, an idea came to his mind, and he slowly walked away from the boy's shanty pretending to leave. Yun hid not close and not too far from the boy's shanty.

"He should come out now."

Yun waited until he couldn't find anyone and decided to quit and just go to the boy's shanty for now, but his eyes settled on a man who was peeking at the boy's shanty, almost too suspicious to ignore, and he was wearing a black suit that was clearly out of place here.

There was no doubt it was the demon that was following them. Yun didn't want to start a fight here when he was completely powerless, so he just made the simplest plan… talk it out with him. If it works, it's good, if it doesn't, then there are a few more options.

Yun simply went behind him and placed his hand on that demon's shoulder. "Let's talk."

The demon's eyes widened in surprise, but he still followed Yun. Yun found a place where no one could hear them or disturb them.

"Truly! As the rumor says, the most beautiful one could also be considered Heaven's splendor alone! The most strategic mind that could win any battle without stepping inside the battlefield… Yun, the angel who sent more demons to their grave than any other in the past!" The demon started complimenting Yun like some idol.

Hearing so many things about him, of course, this made Yun flattered, but also this was not the time to discuss things like that, so Yun got to the point without yapping.

"But that was all in the past and we all made up, right? So there's no need for us to fight again," Yun said.

"You're right about that. This war is not between us, but heaven is standing in the way of the demon king."

"Heaven does not want to repeat the same mistake they made three thousand years ago," Yun replied.

"That's the only way. Before that boy awakens, we must kill him," said the demon.

"By breaking the contract?" Yun narrowed his eyes.

"That man is not around anymore, so there's no need to stick around it." With that, the demon turned around to leave.

There was no need to talk any further. By this, Yun got the answer, and with how the demon responded, they couldn't talk it out, so it was time to use a few other options he had considered. Kill this bastard here and now.

"Then I'm sorry, I can't let you walk out of here alive." Yun grabbed a rock from the ground and threw it at the demon's head with all his might. But the demon managed to dodge it just in time before it could split open his head.

"Some dirty moves we're using now, are we?" The demon grinned as he ran towards Yun, but he was stopped six feet away from Yun. Black blood ran down from his mouth, his eyes widened in shock — what the hell just happened?!

A katana from Yun had pierced his heart. Yun didn't bring any weapon with him, and it was impossible for him to use his powers! "No way! Are you serious? I thought you were the most intelligent being in heaven, but I guess I was wrong." The demon fell on the ground, his body started to vaporize.

"You're wrong about that. I just made the best choice for this moment I can."

"By never returning to heaven again?"

Only the demon's face remained, still vaporizing. The demon opened his mouth once more, "Isn't it too long since we came here? I hope that boy is safe," the demon grinned as he completely vanished.

Without sparing any moment, Yun sprinted toward the boy's shanty. As he got closer, he saw the boy standing out front there, glancing around. Yun let out a sigh of relief seeing the boy safe—was that demon just bluffing? Well, it was not time to think about someone who was dead.

"Sorry, I had something to do, so I left without saying anything."

The boy's eyes found Yun. With his hand gestures, he told Yun to come inside the shanty again.

Following him, Yun also stepped inside. He was wondering if it was odd to keep calling the boy 'him' or 'he,' so he asked the boy again.

"What's your name? If you can't speak, then how about you write it down?"

The boy understood Yun, and he wrote 'Akira' on the floor that was made of mud.

"Nice to meet you, Akira! My name is Yun." Yun extended his hand to Akira for a handshake.

Now that the demon was taken care of, it was no time to rest or anything. It was like defeating a small ant compared to the danger that was going to come. The problem now was where to take Akira and his family so that they can be safe.

It would seem strange to Akira to accept help from Yun when they'd just met, so he would need to come up with an idea to earn Akira's trust.

"I need to take them to a safe place first and then find a way to hide Akira's power completely so they can't track him down," Yun whispered in his head.

The boy was staring at the katana in Yun's hand, probably wondering why Yun had a weapon. Seeing this, Yun placed down the katana. "It may sound strange, but there are some people who want to harm your family. That's why we need to get out of here soon."

The boy seemed totally confused by Yun's words. Yun noticed Akira's confused face and understood it wouldn't work. He needed to make the boy believe him before doing anything else!

"Please believe me, Akira! You earlier heard that my dad is an S rank, right? I heard my dad talking on the phone about killing your little brother. I don't know the details but I don't want my dad to harm any innocent people! That's why I want to help you all!" Yun made another lie, thinking if it was about his brother he would obviously believe him.

Akira's face was covered in sweat, his breath became heavy. He stared at the boy sleeping next to his mother and then at Yun. He grabbed Yun's hand, started to nod and nod, almost begging for help.

"I'm sorry, Akira," Yun muttered. He closed his eyes for a moment. "We shouldn't waste any moment!"

The boy nodded again. Yun was now relieved that the boy was convinced even though it took another lie.

Yun opened his mouth to speak again but before he could say another word—a cold whisper brushed against his ear from behind.

"Found you."
