Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: The Setup

The morning sun crept lazily over Sue City, painting the glass towers gold.

Jackim sat by the window of his Aurora Heights apartment, coffee in hand, laptop open. The System interface hovered faintly before his eyes like a digital ghost — sleek black background, glowing blue text scrolling with his current missions.

[Daily Task Complete]

"Maintain confidence under public scrutiny."

Reward: +1 Charisma, +$50,000

He smirked faintly.

The entire campus had been buzzing about him for days — the mysterious young man who had somehow gone from broke to billionaire. Every social media group, every class whisper, every corridor murmur had his name tangled in it.

But fame had its price.

Just as he was about to shut his laptop, his phone vibrated violently — a string of notifications from campus chat groups.

Messages flooded in.

[Breaking News] "Screenshots leaked! Jackim allegedly used fake bank statements to show off wealth!"

[Campus Updates] "Sources claim he scammed a startup investor."

[Livestream Gossip] "Sandra says she has proof Jackim isn't who he says he is!"

He stared at the screen, still and unreadable.

"Here we go again," he muttered.

Sandra.

The name itself still carried a sting — his ex, the one who had traded love for luxury. After her reputation crumbled when he exposed her materialism, she vanished for weeks.

Now she was back — louder, crueler, and clearly working with someone.

Jackim's phone rang. Kelvin's voice came sharp and anxious.

"Bro, check your student portal. They've opened an investigation! Sandra sent forged documents claiming you faked your sponsorship papers. The dean's calling for a meeting at noon."

Jackim rose calmly, fixing the cuffs of his black shirt. "Perfect timing," he said. "Let's see what game she's playing."

The campus cafeteria was unusually crowded. Students had their phones out, whispering and pointing as Jackim and Kelvin walked through.

"Is that him?"

"Yeah, the guy with the fake company."

"I heard he paid his tuition using scam money."

"He even drives a car under someone else's name!"

Jackim's calm stride never broke. His long black coat swept behind him, dark eyes hidden behind shades. Confidence — that was his shield.

Inside the administrative building, Dean Harris sat at his mahogany desk, a mix of disappointment and confusion on his face.

"Jackim," he said slowly, sliding a folder forward, "we've received documents indicating your recent wealth might have come from illegal online activities. Some students claim you forged sponsorship details and financial proofs."

He pushed the papers across the desk.

Jackim scanned them — perfect forgeries, digital signatures, fake logos. Whoever did this was skilled.

"Who filed the complaint?" he asked evenly.

The dean hesitated. "A student named Sandra Miller."

Kelvin clenched his fists. "That snake again—"

Jackim raised a hand, silencing him. His expression didn't change. "Dean Harris, if I may, I'll provide you with evidence that clears everything up by this evening."

"You'll have 24 hours," the dean said. "Until then, I'm afraid you're suspended from classes."

As they stepped out, the System chimed.

[System Alert]

"Host has been falsely accused."

New Quest Unlocked: Truth Quest — Expose the Liar

Time Limit: 72 hours

Reward: $2,000,000 + Skill [Data Decryption Lv.2]

Failure Penalty: Loss of Reputation

Jackim's lips curled slightly. "So it's official," he murmured. "Let's expose her."

That evening, his apartment transformed into a war room. Kelvin worked on one screen, Melissa on another — the livestreamer neighbor who had unexpectedly joined their circle after seeing Jackim's kindness when she was trolled online.

Melissa glanced over. "You sure about this? If Sandra's working with someone powerful—"

Jackim's tone cut through the room, low and sure. "Then I'll expose both."

The System projected data across the wall — every post, every shared screenshot, every timestamp. Jackim tapped the screen, eyes sharp.

"System, run cross-trace on original file metadata."

[Processing…]

Source identified: IP address traced to Bryan Wills, Economics Department.

Secondary collaborator: Sandra Miller.

Kelvin slammed the table. "Bryan! The same guy who was spreading rumors after you bought that car!"

Jackim leaned back, the faintest smirk forming. "Perfect."

The next day, campus felt like a pressure cooker.

Jackim walked into the main courtyard wearing a charcoal suit, black shirt underneath — silent, confident. Phones turned, whispers followed. Sandra stood near the fountain, surrounded by her gossip circle, smirking.

"Oh, look who's here," she sneered. "Mr. Millionaire. Did your fake documents pass inspection?"

Students laughed nervously, forming a crowd.

Jackim smiled faintly. "You've been busy, Sandra."

"Oh, just making sure the truth comes out."

"Truth," he echoed, taking a slow step closer. "Then you won't mind if I show everyone what the real truth looks like."

He raised his wrist — the System bracelet glowing softly. A holographic projection flickered to life, casting large visuals onto the fountain's misty air.

Display: File Metadata Comparison

"Uploaded document forged. Original file from IP: BryanW-ECON-StudentNet."

The crowd gasped.

Then came the second slide — a security feed from the campus printing lab, timestamped two days earlier, showing Sandra and Bryan printing out fake documents together.

Sandra's face went pale.

"I–I don't know what this is—"

Jackim stepped closer, voice calm but cutting. "You framed me because you couldn't stand being irrelevant. You sold lies for attention."

The System chimed quietly in his ear:

[Mission Complete: Truth Quest]

Reward Granted: $2,000,000 + Skill [Data Decryption Lv.2]

Bonus: Public Reputation Restored

Gasps turned into applause.

Bryan tried to run but was grabbed by security. Sandra's friends backed away, pretending they hadn't known anything.

Jackim turned, the sun catching the faint metallic gleam on his watch. "If you want to destroy someone," he said softly, "at least make sure your lies are stronger than their truth."

Later that evening, back at Aurora Heights, Kelvin tossed a soda to him.

"Man, that was legendary. You just burned them alive in public."

Jackim chuckled, sipping quietly.

The System chimed again, displaying a new notification:

[Hidden Achievement Unlocked: The Unbreakable Reputation]

Reward: 10% permanent reputation boost, +$500,000 passive income per month from anonymous investors.

Melissa smiled from the balcony, city lights reflecting off her long hair. "So… you really are untouchable now, huh?"

Jackim looked out over the skyline, his voice quiet but steady.

"No one's untouchable," he said. "But some of us learn faster how to survive."

The night deepened.

Jackim leaned on the balcony rail, eyes following the stream of headlights far below. His phone buzzed — a message from an unknown number.

"You exposed my pawns. Impressive."

"Let's see how you handle The Wheel itself."

His expression hardened.

The System flickered a warning:

[New Threat Detected: The Wheel Organization — Level 2 Danger]

Jackim's smirk returned. "Then it's time," he murmured, "to see how deep this game really goes."
